    Now Tommy, you have a good idea of what to aim for. Keep saving the pennies, and soon, you'll be able to get moving on the High Boy project.
    Good little video, great looking F-250!

    What a beauty! I remember a cousin bought one brand new in 1976 I believe. It was dark blue, 4x4 highboy like this one loaded XLT with all the chrome trim with a 400, 4 brl dual exhaust, with a granny low 5 speed. I remember going off road with him in a place called Miles Standish National Park. In Plymouth Massachusetts. We were in a marked trail that went around a water hole, near a stream. Of course he did not follow the marked trail through the stream, but instead though he could make it trough the deep water!! Well we did make it sort of! We were in the water, half way up the doors in about 4' of standing water, when the air intake that came out of the air cleaner went into the fender, which was under water! And the truck stalled! So I told him to open the rear winder sliders that were wide enough for him to climb out, over the cab and down the hood to stand mid thigh in the water on the grill guard. I pull the hood opener to pop the hood so he could open it. From in the cab I could see about the only thin above water under the hood beside the battery was the carb! So I told him to take the cover off the air cleaner and hang on! After a few turns the engine fired, I dropped it in granny low and we pulled right out onto the trail! He climbed down, I shut the engine off and opened the drivers door to let all the water out of the cab that almost covered the seat bottom! As I was wet up to my but! The bed was half full with water that came gushing out of the tailgate. We had a giant laugh, let e everything dry off for a while, smoked a dooby, then drove off with a great story!! All true! We spent the next day changing all the fluids in the truck in out fathers trucking company shop!! That was when Ford made real good trucks!

    Beautiful truck. The metallic green paint looks sweet. My grandfather had one on the farm with a dump box on it, great truck.

    I wish I never sold my 77 F250 XLT 4x4 my Dad bought new for $7800. It had a 400 CUI what an awesome truck it was, was cool in high school driving it, my dad put dual glass packs on it and exhaust out in front of rear wheels. Wish I could share a photo of it.

    I just landed a 73 one owner from an old man. 97,000 original miles. Bed is perfect, whole truck straight. Even has air, ps, pb. I was surprised the ac was in the dash. My dad had a 74 he bought new and the ac was in the dash but control knobs were different, probably dealer air. In 78 dad bought a new one. My mom's dad bought the 74 and gave up his 56 F250. Thangs was poor down in Lousyana. Then I got the 74 in 88 and was in Panama during the Noriega deal, and they sold it. I would still be driving it.

      I am a fan of American vehicles don't care really so much about if it is Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge, just so long as it isn't a gaw dang import.

    A beautiful truck for sure . I work at the Ford plant where that was made in Louisville, KY, Louisville Assembly Plant, UAW Local 862. F Series pickups were made there from 1973-1980. We currently produce the Ford Escape . And it's not pronounced "Lewisville" , at least not by anyone from around there lol , it's pronounced " Loo-a-vul".

    I've got a 1973 Highboy, went with the 79 power steering conversion and a 428FE. Mine also had the sunroof but I hate that part. Power brakes and power steering are really a must for those. I even converted to factory A/C and that was a real bear.

    Do you still have this truck and would you part with it there's only 3 things I would do to this truck I would tint the windows I would put nerf bars on it instead of those steps And I would put a trailer hitch on it In the moldings that go along the doors the bed in the front fenders all the moldings that would make the truck look a little bit brighter do you wanna sell it let me know thank you for this video

    Can you not tell the engine by the serial number on the block? That's the way it works with small block chevys, it seems like everyone would.

    Calling it a 360? Does this guy know he could simply but a rod down the spark plug hose an easily see if its a 390 or 360?

  • @michaelcuff5780
    @michaelcuff5780 6 років тому

    Probably a 390 cid not 360. Never heard of a ford 360. Thought mopar made the 360. I know all 3 made a 400 cid.

      Ford made both 360 and 390 big blocks. The only real way to tell them apart is to pull a spark plug and measure the stroke. The blocks and heads etc are identical
