I’ve always said that the only reason Gotham is considered remotely good is because of the acting. Season 1 was fine, but it was honestly boring. The writing was tame, and the characters were mostly likeable, but a lot of the story line was forgettable and the villains were more so annoying then anything. Season 2 was significantly better, but in all honestly got very messy and choppy in a lot of sections. They’re was just too much going on to actually enjoy the episode. Too many storylines taking place all at once. Season 3 had the best character introductions and even villains, but the writing wasn’t good. It was kind of disappointing, considering how amazing the newly introduced characters were, like Jerome. Season 4 was imo the best season, perfect balance of everything. Still lacking in some departments. But gave most of my favorite characters a spotlight, like Jerome and Jeremiah, Penguin, and Riddler. And season 5 was okay, it didn’t exceed or disappoint my expectations. My biggest complaint with the show is that it’s unbalanced and unpredictable overall. I physically can’t LIKE or DISLIKE a season the most because EACH season had good storylines, and downright horrible ones. I already said season 4 was my personal favorite, but then you have to remember all of the River-dale type writing it had going on, and some of the characters were very unlikeable at times, but then became my favorite character for an episode.
@InternallyExhausted 🏳️⚧️ no its not just the acting, it's the set design and story. Season 1 was great although I didn't much like the Gordon stuff, Sal marpni and the ogre were standouts. Ogre is the scariest and hardest to watch villain in the show. This show truly felt like a comic book series in the best way possible. I really disagree that it was super flawed. It had dumb arcs but they added to the characters and were entertaining most of the time. I'm not the biggest fan of the realistic season 1 other than riddler but it is good. Penguin works
I always found it fascinating that Jeremiah calls Lee Tompkins a dear friend to Bruce, despite the fact that Bruce and Lee have very few interactions throughout the show. There’s no doubt they care for each other, except that they don’t talk to each other very much or have many scenes together.
@@arturofernandez4058 To be fair, Jim had moments where play the role of mentor and father figure to Bruce, specially in season 3, when he advice Bruce to tell his feelings for Selina, or in season 4 where he is the one that helps Bruce get over the angst phase he was going through.
Respectfully, i disagree. The scene's awesome but i don't think the Lee part is fascinating, i think it's odd that the scene tries to make it as if Lee and Bruce are close friends and her death will deeply impact him when that clearly was never the case in the show. They barely knew each other and i doubt they even cared about each other's existence before this scene. Though, to be fair to the show, i guess there just wasn't a woman Bruce was close with except Selina but she couldn't be used by Jeremiah on this Martha role for obvious reasons.
Having Joker to be the one who killed Bruce's parents in the Tim Burton 1989 film was a genius idea. having Batman's worst enemy be the one responsible for making him so Batman could be the one to create the Joker in return. And how could anyone do anything with the Joker having some relation to the Thomas and Martha's deaths? Having him recreate the event. This was a genius idea for Gotham. Jeremiah considers Bruce his best friend and wanted to be part of the most important moment of his life. If Jeremiah succeeded at killing Jim and Lee, he would have gave Bruce... one bad day. And of course, for the 2019 Joker film, he inspired one of his followers to kill Thomas and Martha. Honestly, Joker recreating Thomas and Martha's deaths should be something that DC should do in the comics. Since Joker trying to drive Jim mad in The Killing Joker with one bad day became a huge success in the name of comics, DC doing a comic similar to this episode would probably be another huge success.
Reminds me of the story of the Batman who laughs. Since he was infected by joker venom after the joker made him snap and kill him after he had made him watch as he orphaned a series of children in the same way Bruce's parents died before jokerizing the kids
> Having Joker to be the one who killed Bruce's parents in the Tim Burton 1989 film was a genius idea Along with giving him a name and a backstory, killing Bruce's parents sort of ruined the whole mystery of the Joker. There's a reason why it's never caught on in the comics, even thirty years later.
Disagree about Joker killing the Waynes in the Burton movies was a good idea. It just takes aways the simplicity of their death, that they were kill by just thug, showing how crime is random and can happen to anyone at any place and time, and that not every tragedy is a big conspiracy or the criminal not always end up being a important figure. However I think Jeremiah plot of trying to recreate the Wayne's death in Gotham is a brilliant plan and reflects Joker narcissism and obsession for being Batman's enemy. If Joker knew Batman's backstory, he would probably not be happy to know that he wasn't the one who cause Batman's biggest tragedy in life and would try to replace that figure in Batman's eyes.
TMNTFanatic IJ Hamill's looks more like a devil or a newsman haircut. Jerome in season 3 had Hamill style but jeremiah has the Telltale Villain Joker style. Makes him look like a crazy artist with the coat too and the green shine in the hairs. But yes it does capture the same idea as hamills
This scene is kind of a perfect a perfect Joker scene. He wants to do two things: Cause chaos to cut off Gotham from the rest of the world and to be the most important person in Bruce's life by killing two very important people in his life. That is The Joker.

I mean I think most people would agree jim is like, third on the list of people bruce views as a father figure, many could argue he's not even on the list
The main comics and old Batman cartoons set them up more as close friends and colleagues, but this show definitely added to their history and dynamic. I remember watching Batman Begins and The Batman (2004) series and seeing Jim Gordon comforting Bruce or giving his condolences immediately after his parents died and the two aren't in each other's lives for over a decade later when he's Batman, but never as Bruce Wayne. I like how this show picks up their relationship immediately after he comforts Bruce because he's in charge of the investigation and that sets up their friendship and dynamic as father figure and son figure. Alfred obviously still plays the major role of raising Bruce and guiding him, so Jim kind of doubles as occasional responsible parental figure and reckless uncle figure who let's Bruce slide when he gets involved in dangerous situations he shouldn't be in.
Jerome only wanted to kill Bruce because it was the last thing he remembered trying to do before he died so he was compelled to try to finish that business when he was brought back. I remember liking Jerome better at first. During my second rewatch I appreciated Jeremiah more.
This was better, i mean he looked better this way. In later seasons, he looked too scary. This look was pretty good and more elegant kinda. Maybe it's just me, so please don't be angry.
