      Josh wasn't even in the band by the time Bless the Martyr was released. In my opinion, he was never really the singer for Norma Jean, just recorded the vocals for that album.
      So, by the time really any of us ever heard Norma Jean, Corey was already the singer.
      So, no, nothing on Bless the Martyr is a "cover" when the band plays them, since that incarnation of the band ceased to exist before the record was released.

    I was pretty sheltered as far as the music I was allowed to listen to. I first hear NJ in 2001, and I never got to see them live until this show at FF22. I think the project Norma Jean is a true project that isn’t limited to specific members. The original vocalist is an incredible writer and frontman. So is Corey. These guys throw down, and they played this song in tribute. I’m sure that album was one that several current members heard and is partly why they joined the project.

      Brian Johnson has performed more pre-Back in Black songs than Bon Scott. It doesn't appear that anyone at the show was upset about the band not strictly limiting their set list.

    • @TrephineArtist
      @TrephineArtist Рік тому +1

      Stuck in the past seems to be a highly inaccurate description of this superlative band. Some fans might live in the past but I suppose we all have our favourites (songs) and memories. Nothing wrong with paying tribute at a live show especially with such a beast of a song (& with newer NJ elements added).

      @@jayhawkjb It's not though is it? Owing to the size of their discography and length of time the band's been going they barely play anything from Bless The Martyr now which is the only record Cory didn't sing on. Overwhelmingly Cory is singing material that he wrote at least in part. He's been in the band longer than any past member at this point.
