Absolutely bonkers but I loved watching it, I was smiling the whole time, and I’m sorry but I proper belly laughed when you hit the tree. Excellent video. You’re still my riding inspiration Yuka.
Thanks for taking me back to the Netherlands, Yuka. Rode through here on a road bike going from London to Paris in the mid 90s. Your trails are much more beautiful, you are inspriting.
@@VanGirlYuka I wanted to live there att, so nice. Here at home, we had beach cruisers to ride around work buildings, they were basic bikes like yours w/coaster brakes and no front brakes. Your bike looks even more worn and then you loaded up a step thru frame on dirt! You are very brave🌹 Can't wait for your next adventure.☺
My friends and I have a video of us trying to ride a Dutch bike. It was hilarious and so hard!! Kudos to you and your friend for bikepacking on these bikes. I really enjoyed this video!!😊😅
Wow, lots of trails in the Netherlands. When I was a kid in Canada, most of the bikes were like that. We learned to ride on those kind of bikes. Only a few had 3 speeds. Later 10 speeds, road bikes came out, that was a great improvement.
The video about your ride in Japan was beautiful, this was hilarious! (I'm sure Seth would approve ... ;) Who knew there was so much single track and elevation in the Netherlands!? By doing non-typical MTB things, you are making your channel super interesting! Have you thought of making T-shirts that say "Oyokosho"? :))
Haha I love this video! Great that you are exploring the Dutch mtb trails with a Dutch bike haha! Unfortunately mountainbiking is not big here, but I do know some good spots tho! I also built my own van this year and am now travelling for a few months while also visiting some sick bikeparks. Just wanted to say, if you need help building your van or need a friend to go biking with in the Netherlands and show you some good spots, just hit me up! Hope you have fun
i just recently did the The Oregon Desert Trail, 750 miles through the high desert. do another bikepacking trip, every time you plan a trip you'll get better at the planning and execution and you'll see a lot of beautiful things and meet some awesome people and basically have life changing moments day after day.. there's some pain involved but you forget all about that and you just remember the awesomeness. i can help people with Washington and Oregon local knowledge
That was funny. I remember when i was 14 years old i a cheap bmx bike that wasnt very light. I lived in washington state. I dragged that thing through wood, up huge hill in the woods. Watching you reminded me of that. I traded my bmx for a cheap ten speed with wider than road bike tires. I used it like it was a mountain bike too. 😊
Yuka on an 'omafiets', who would have thought that! You should really visit some of our proper trails on your mountainbike though. I'd be glad to show you one of our most technical trails!
Heehee! I bought an Electra beach cruiser last year for £80. It had a back pedal brake for the rear, but also a normal front brake, as it's a illegal requirement in the UK. I hated the back pedal brake so much! I'm 70 and have used normal brakes for 65 years! So I had a local bike shop remove the back pedal mechanism!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh! It's heaven to have a normal back brake!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to hug my bike ! 🤗 It's still a cruiser though, so I also changed the handlebars for "cow horn" type bars, as I also hated the swept back bars. Hahahaha! I hated my new bike so much! 😂 But I like it now, as long as I stick to the canal and riverside promenade! How many !!! did I use in this comment???! 🤔😑
Loved it Yuka. Studied in Groningen and lived there for 9 years. Reminds me of good old times. You should ride the Utrechtse heuvelrug, if you're still in rhe Netherlands. Maybe leave the omafiets though...😂
Another riding video without any jumps, this is becoming a habit. 😏 But still some great crash footage. 😵This looked harder than your grandmother's bike video in Japan. In the 60's we used to ride crazy things on coaster brake mustang style bikes with 20" wheels, banana seats and riser bars, and crashes were really common.
Probably i wouldnt be impressed by this video if i havent ridden my grandpa's old bike (ussr made, steel frame, single speed, 28 wheels, plastic grips, cheap pedals, and overall heavy)
That 'city bike' is meant for roads, not the woods hahaha. We have thousands of smooth bike lanes throughout the country, I recommend staying on those without a MTB ❤
Great video Yuka!! Kinda different without full suspension, disc brakes, and 11 speeds huh? No sending it on jumps or shredding down the trails, well you kinda shredded down the hill and had you wild boar crash. Good to see you enjoying riding and having fun again. You gonna take that bike to Whistler someday?😄
As a dutchie, respect. Those bikes suck haha. Can't believe you said, in the beginning; " it is only 210 km ". Like it's nothing. Glad for you, you started in the top of the netherlands. Not much of elevation there compared to the south ( south - Limburg )
Those bikes are really not that bad. Rode one like that as a kid for thousands of miles on and off road. Three sizes too big, coaster brake and rubber pedals.
When you would wander more to middle Europe definitely let me know! I would love to show you my region of borderland between Czechia and Poland, no matter which bike you would like to ride ;)
@@mrvwbug4423 I am sure it is made well, but some of the modern amenities like suspension, gearing and hand brakes would have made the riding much more pleasant.
But look at the bike! It’s so beautiful✨ I love Dutch bikes. Ever since I saw the bike in the Netherlands I was determined to go for a bike packing with it 🥰
The normal commuter bike you used isn't usefull on MTB/off road tracks and we Dutchies don't use those paths with a normal commuter bike. We use the normal hardened bike paths when we travel with our normal commuter bike. What you did is crazy and out of your mind. Use a mountain bike the next time when you want to ride off road. Indeed the dumbest idea you had!!! I couldn't watch it to the end.
Its great to see you Yuka, We wish you the best ! keep being RAD!
lol thanks!
Happy New Year, Hope all is well
Thanks Yuka for all the fun. You certainly inspire our family to enjoy our bikes.
That’s a true adventure. You have a great sense of humour. 👍👍
Absolutely bonkers but I loved watching it, I was smiling the whole time, and I’m sorry but I proper belly laughed when you hit the tree. Excellent video. You’re still my riding inspiration Yuka.
I basically rode straight into the tree without using brake 🤣
Thanks for your comment, i was about to post practically the same, but don't have to.
Damn, now i'm still typing way more than i wanted.
What a crazy idea! I would never do that with my dutch bike. Glad you had fun on this trip.

When I learned to ride bikes *everybody* had coaster brakes! And you can definitely brake while standing up, it just doesn’t feel right.
I just accidentally back pedal multiple times and almost go over the bars 😓 it definitely didn’t feel right…
Very entertaining and fun!

Madness but great content, the scenery was amazing. 🫶

Great to see you laughing and smiling again Yuka! This bike, on those relatively easy trails must be one of the sketchiest things you've ever tried.
That's certainly one way to spice up those trails haha. Even a gravel bike would've made those trivially easy.
A old model bikes, this so much saudade from the past. Today i have a MTB model, parts very expensive, times after times.
