Honestly this is the smartest thing I’ve heard to do with that area. Inside out would fit perfectly into the Wonders of life pavilion the whole place has been decaying for too long now it’s time.
Just an FYI, Epic is going to cost about 8-9 billion when completed , what Jeff found was that Universal announced they have spent around 1-1.5 billion a year through the building and development that wasn’t the total cost of the completed project
My husband and 12yo daughter went on mission space for the first time last year, orange side by mistake and were both so mad at me for not telling them about this awesome ride😂😳 they loved it. My motion sickness does not allow me to even attempt the green side so I never thought about it

They really need to expand the other parks. Magic Kingdom has so much already and the largest crowds, they should really try to increase the rides/capacity at the other parks. Doesn't make sense......

A cheap thing that I would love: an original characters section for Star Wars in Hollywood Studios. Maybe at Star Tours? Meet and greets with Leia, Luke, Han, Lando, etc.
They totally screwed up with Galaxy's Edge by focusing on the most recent trilogy. An attraction minus Vader and Luke was a major oversite. My guess, the imagineers had a plan and the suits shut it down.
Yes! I had never thought about Paul and Jeff’s point, but my favorite rides are those designed by Imagineers (without incorporation of any existing Disney IP) - and Maelstrom used to be on the list, before it re-opened as Frozen (even though I do like the movie) - so that would be my hope for any future attraction. Let the Imagineers do what they do!
You guys are the best! I enjoy this show so much! Big fat panda has the nicest smile ever! I’ve been to Disney world at least 11 or 12 times and loved every minute! I don’t go anymore, but my grandchildren do. The prices have skyrocketed so much that I choose not to go.

There is no chance of Bluey coming to Parks. They passed on that earlier (another dunce decision) and now it is going to be in Sesame Place instead! Disney is unfortunately a sinking ship that is accelerating its descent. More DVC towers is EXACTLY what they don’t need to announce or blow any more money on. Disney keeps wasting money on all the wrong things (loser movies) as Iger starves the cash-cow parks, especially WDW. I am a California native and a current resident of California. Every time I visit Disneyworld, Florida. I end up missing the Matterhorn ride, Indiana Jones ride, Radiator Springs Racers ride and the Guardian’s of the Galaxy ride. I remember visiting Disneyland, California back in the early 1960’s. That is when Walt Disney walked down Main Street. I can not describe that Disney Magic feeling you get when you walk down Main Street in Disneyland, California. I do not get that same feeling walking down Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, Florida.
I’m a DLR local as well, and get what you mean, but you don’t have to feel that Walt magic to enjoy yourself in WDW, it’s amazing on its own. Its got more that Roy magic feeling instead. 😊

RnRC replacement with Muppet's Mayhem could be really neat. With that make a mini Muppet's land by converting the Lightning McQueen to a new Muppets Vision show replacement along with a Muppet's themed Swedish chef style quick service. Use the existing Muppets Vision space for a brand new Star Wars expansion area. I envision a Speed Racer coaster in the style of Hagrid's along with a rethem of Mama Melrose into a table restaurant.
on our next trip to WDW in July we asked our kids 10 & 13 what two parts they want to go and they choose Epcot and Animal Kingdom. we already love them the most but we would love to see a few more attractions.
I agree with Jeff about making Animal Kingdom a full-day park and having the chance to be there at night. They could do so many incredible things to AK. I also love Amy's idea of a Monster's Inc. door ride. That would be a fun and cool homage to a fabulous Disney movie. I would be concerned about a second Bay Lake tower because of the monorail and congestion on it! We are GF owners, and that concerns me for sure. Finally, yes, Derek, we need to expand the SKYLINER! It is our favorite form of Disney transportation! If they put the Skyliner in at AK Lodge, I would finally stay there. I avoid it now because I want to avoid taking a bus everywhere. Great thoughts, everyone! And Panda, let's hope we get that CARS ride in MK!
Last D23 they had the biggest applause when they mentioned Villains land for beyond big thunder. I hope they aren’t going to backtrack on that. That was the only interesting thing I was rooting for.
I'm with Jeff. We need more stuff to do in the other parks. Nighttime shows should be in every park. I don't care if it's a parade, fireworks, or drone show. I want the parks maintained. Epcot - new Figment ride HS - expand Galaxy's Edge AK - I like the Zootopia train idea Derek is correct. No more DVC announcements. Expand the Skyliner. More transportation options are a plus. I want people eating rides and restaurants. The whole getting up at 3am to make ADR is old.
I don’t think the Simpson’s belong at Disney either. I was very upset when they went to Disney plus. I also agree that we need the original ideas to come back into the parks.
People act like I’m crazy for wanting simpsons at Disney World. I can’t find a good fit in the parks, but I think Moe’s Tavern and the Kwiki Mart would be perfect at Disney Springs
The Magic and Wonder are ancient by modern cruise ship standards. However, they are still in pretty good shape. I don’t see them ditching them anytime soon but they are probably about 80% through their lifespan.
Quick note on the Indy section at DHS. I think this area could be turned into a Marvel themed area. I know Disney has barriers due the contract with Universal/Marvel but I still think a land can work. Repurpose the IJ stunt show into a multiverse stunt show using allowable IP (Black Panther/Dr. Strange/Guardians/Fantastic 4, etc). Re-purpose Star Tours as part of the land as a new motion based attraction (maybe Dr. Strange or Guardians), repurpose Backlot Express into a PYM Kitchen. Finally, build an E-ticket Black Panther Quin Jet attraction in the backspace areas and even extent into the parking lot. This land would be a major draw and would sell a ton of Merch.
Agree with Jeff, enough with movie IP, let’s try to create some new stuff, not wait to see what’s popular before doing anything. Most of the best rides and attractions are NOT based on movies… but because they are so good and imaginative they made for some good movies. 😊
60 billion. How about the 2 year old Beijing park in China. They never say what park, they aren’t giving their American customers anything but promises without saying where. They keep raising the prices here so we can pay for parks we will never see. They also raised the maintenance fee on the DVC resorts to ridiculous highs it put me out of the market. I stopped looking and people are selling crazy low probably because of those fees every year. I will just do other things when I go to Orlando. There are lots of other things. There are lots of nice hotels there too. I’ve been staying at the Universal hotels who have very short waits for their busses. I still have hope for the Disney parks but not with the people who are destroying it now.
There would have to be some severe structural or mechanical issues with either the Magic or Wonder for them to simply be sold off or scrapped. The revenue from their sailings is too high. It's not as though a buyer could just put them back into service with minimal changes. Disney isn't likely to let some other company parade around with their IP and iconography on display. All the fixtures and furnishings with the Mickey ear imagery would have to be removed.
From orlando business journal, the $1B figure often cited for epic universe was just the year over year increase in spending on epic universe just in the 2022 fiscal year. The total cost is much higher. "CFO Michael Cavanaugh, during the company's first quarter 2022 earning call on April 28, confirmed the general capital expenditure of Epic Universe in the NBCUniversal division - the segment including theme parks -to be up about $1 billion year-over-year."
Bring me the same zootopia experience from Shanghai Disneyland plus that train ride and it’d be a smash hit. But they gotta do more at animal kingdom. Like repurpose a quarter of the park plus add on.
For all the prior talk about needing new things and not just re-do's, there's a lot of talk about needing to re-do/replace existing shows or rides with better versions. That still all isn't actually new, though. I agree, Winnie the Pooh doesn't compare and could be better, replacing bugs life with zootopia would be 'new', but still just a replacement, and so on and on. The problem for Disney is that they need booth to refresh, replace, and refurb while also making new stuff and in today's age they have to do all of that much faster than in the past with more simultaneous projects at once. Don't get me wrong, I agree, they need to do all these updates/replacements, but we also know they need brand new stuff. To Jeff's point, outside of Magic Kingdom, the other parks lack in overall ride count and also how they can eat up full days....because they can't right now. One thing I don't think gets talked about is how they tend to build new attractions right now and how too often they use their IP to create an attraction that just rehashes the movie. They don't tell original stories too often and once you've gone on the attraction once, you only revisit for some impressive technical accomplishment, like the Frozen ride in Tokyo. It's stupid impressive. It is so much better than the ever after rides in Hong Kong and Epcot, but it still just tells the story of the movie and I feel that eventually wears thin.
Here's my take on each park: Maguc kingdom: agree with opening up the Adventureland walkway by either moving or getting rid of Magic Carpet Ride EPCOT: agree 100% with bringing back Tapestry of Nations! Hollywood Studios: how can ypu not start integrating Marvel like they've done at DCA? Animal Kingdom: Zootopia seems like a logical choice.
Unfortunately for Disney, Universal owns the theme park rights to Marvel east of the Mississippi in perpetuity. Disney literally can’t add Marvel to WDW. The exception is Guardians, which came after the agreement.

The one thing I think Jeff may have missed a little. There are a lot of guests who like to experience the atmosphere and don't need to do attraction after attraction to make a full day. The one thing I don't want Disney to do is make it more about attractions than the overall theming of the parks. Epcot my prediction is that inside out will go into the live pavilion and maybe another IP with it. but I think they will announce something in that space. Taking Figment out of the ride will be terrible. DHS I think they will do an expansion but I think it will take out star ways launch bay. I can agree that the Indian Jones show isn't what it used to be, but I think it eats people right now so until they expand elsewhere its hard to take it away. Maybe they can have the Monsters Doors coaster idea come back. or Maybe here is an inside out land.

I would love to see the Paint the Night parade come back to Disneyland or come to the Magic Kingdom. It is the best Disney parade ever, in my opinion. I would also like to see an updated version of IllumiNations come to EPCOT. LuminUs is better than HarmoniUs, but it still doesn't match the story of EPCOT- a story of the world.
Animal kingdom has been abandoned since Aviator. The park just needed a fun replacement for the double twirl ride(?) and maintenance to Dino, which is educational and a great ride, loud and exciting especially for new riders. The hamburger toppings restaurant was always jammed. A great park near a great resort, so let’s abandon Animal Kingdom for 8 years?
The Brazil angle is interesting. There's been rumors in the past of Disney expanding into Brazil and there's the link between Walt Disney to the country as well as the fact that Brazilians have a passion for Disney. All that said, I'm not sure Brazil could handle such a venture from an economic standpoint. I think the be better guess may be a Brazil being added to World Showcase in Epcot. There's currently no South American representation. Could give the Imagineers a chance to come up with a non-IP based ride as well.
Love Derek's ideas for Epcot... Imagination pavilion is the perfect place to capitalize on the success of Inside Out - that IP is perfect for that part of Epcot. New Soarin' + new music for Guardians - both sorely needed, and have to think comparatively cheap fixes (how perfect would Van Halen's Jump be?). And Greece? Perfect. I think at this point the food at World Showcase is a bit overrated, but adding a country like Greece, both from a cuisine and historical significance perspective (not to mention, ahem, directly translatable IP with Hercules) seems a no-brainer to me.
In terms of d23 predictions I hope they finally announce more about and start construction on that avengers e ticket ride that they have been promising us since 2019 for California adventure
I totally agree with Derek regarding the need for Disney to add an Inside Out attraction and a Coco attraction in Epcot. I am also wondering how they intend to incorporate Indiana Jones into Animal Kingdom. I have been a DVC member since 2009. I became a member because Disney made it so very convenient for me to travel to WDW with my daughter. I t made us feel safe to be able to catch The Magical Express Bus from MCO straight to our resort. It made us feel special and welcome. While she and I still love WDW, my daughter, who will be 28 in October, and I do more Disney cruising now. The parks, for us, are not as appealing. They are too crowded and there are not enough new attractions to keep us going back as often as we used to. I hope Disney will begin to care more about what we consumers want.
As a stock of a certain percent I am counting hearing rumblings another park of following universal to Las Vegas or somewhere west just chew on that for a bit
I would love to see the backlot experience return at DHS, adding in not just the stunts but more actual and recreated sets and soundstages.

Islands of Adventure cost a minimum $1 billion to build 25 years ago so at least $8-9 billion on Epic Universe sounds much more realistic.

on our next trip to WDW in July we asked our kids 10 & 13 what two parts they want to go and they choose Epcot and Animal Kingdom. we already love them the most but we would love to see a few more attractions.

I agree with Jeff about making Animal Kingdom a full-day park and having the chance to be there at night. They could do so many incredible things to AK. I also love Amy's idea of a Monster's Inc. door ride. That would be a fun and cool homage to a fabulous Disney movie. I would be concerned about a second Bay Lake tower because of the monorail and congestion on it! We are GF owners, and that concerns me for sure. Finally, yes, Derek, we need to expand the SKYLINER! It is our favorite form of Disney transportation! If they put the Skyliner in at AK Lodge, I would finally stay there. I avoid it now because I want to avoid taking a bus everywhere. Great thoughts, everyone! And Panda, let's hope we get that CARS ride in MK!
Last D23 they had the biggest applause when they mentioned Villains land for beyond big thunder. I hope they aren’t going to backtrack on that. That was the only interesting thing I was rooting for.
I bet it ends up on the haunted mansion side, so it may be the last part of the expansion, but I bet it’s still coming… some day.
I'm with Jeff. We need more stuff to do in the other parks. Nighttime shows should be in every park. I don't care if it's a parade, fireworks, or drone show. I want the parks maintained.

People act like I’m crazy for wanting simpsons at Disney World. I can’t find a good fit in the parks, but I think Moe’s Tavern and the Kwiki Mart would be perfect at Disney Springs

The Magic and Wonder are ancient by modern cruise ship standards. However, they are still in pretty good shape. I don’t see them ditching them anytime soon but they are probably about 80% through their lifespan.

Some original IP could be to build the Mt. Fuji roller coaster in the Japan pavilion like they originally wanted to.
Quick note on the Indy section at DHS. I think this area could be turned into a Marvel themed area. I know Disney has barriers due the contract with Universal/Marvel but I still think a land can work. Repurpose the IJ stunt show into a multiverse stunt show using allowable IP (Black Panther/Dr. Strange/Guardians/Fantastic 4, etc). Re-purpose Star Tours as part of the land as a new motion based attraction (maybe Dr. Strange or Guardians), repurpose Backlot Express into a PYM Kitchen. Finally, build an E-ticket Black Panther Quin Jet attraction in the backspace areas and even extent into the parking lot. This land would be a major draw and would sell a ton of Merch.

Most of the best rides and attractions are NOT based on movies… but because they are so good and imaginative they made for some good movies. 😊
60 billion. How about the 2 year old Beijing park in China. They never say what park, they aren’t giving their American customers anything but promises without saying where. They keep raising the prices here so we can pay for parks we will never see. They also raised the maintenance fee on the DVC resorts to ridiculous highs it put me out of the market. I stopped looking and people are selling crazy low probably because of those fees every year. I will just do other things when I go to Orlando. There are lots of other things. There are lots of nice hotels there too. I’ve been staying at the Universal hotels who have very short waits for their busses. I still have hope for the Disney parks but not with the people who are destroying it now.
There would have to be some severe structural or mechanical issues with either the Magic or Wonder for them to simply be sold off or scrapped. The revenue from their sailings is too high.
It's not as though a buyer could just put them back into service with minimal changes. Disney isn't likely to let some other company parade around with their IP and iconography on display. All the fixtures and furnishings with the Mickey ear imagery would have to be removed.
From orlando business journal, the $1B figure often cited for epic universe was just the year over year increase in spending on epic universe just in the 2022 fiscal year. The total cost is much higher. "CFO Michael Cavanaugh, during the company's first quarter 2022 earning call on April 28, confirmed the general capital expenditure of Epic Universe in the NBCUniversal division - the segment including theme parks -to be up about $1 billion year-over-year."
Bring me the same zootopia experience from Shanghai Disneyland plus that train ride and it’d be a smash hit. But they gotta do more at animal kingdom. Like repurpose a quarter of the park plus add on.
For all the prior talk about needing new things and not just re-do's, there's a lot of talk about needing to re-do/replace existing shows or rides with better versions. That still all isn't actually new, though. I agree, Winnie the Pooh doesn't compare and could be better, replacing bugs life with zootopia would be 'new', but still just a replacement, and so on and on. The problem for Disney is that they need booth to refresh, replace, and refurb while also making new stuff and in today's age they have to do all of that much faster than in the past with more simultaneous projects at once.
Don't get me wrong, I agree, they need to do all these updates/replacements, but we also know they need brand new stuff. To Jeff's point, outside of Magic Kingdom, the other parks lack in overall ride count and also how they can eat up full days....because they can't right now. One thing I don't think gets talked about is how they tend to build new attractions right now and how too often they use their IP to create an attraction that just rehashes the movie. They don't tell original stories too often and once you've gone on the attraction once, you only revisit for some impressive technical accomplishment, like the Frozen ride in Tokyo. It's stupid impressive. It is so much better than the ever after rides in Hong Kong and Epcot, but it still just tells the story of the movie and I feel that eventually wears thin.
Hollywood studios will surprise people with expansion, Ak will have dino plus a new attraction, MK beyond big thunder will do phase one.
They're not saying EOCOT is done forever, just that the overhaul project is done

Here's my take on each park:
Maguc kingdom: agree with opening up the Adventureland walkway by either moving or getting rid of Magic Carpet Ride
EPCOT: agree 100% with bringing back Tapestry of Nations!
Hollywood Studios: how can ypu not start integrating Marvel like they've done at DCA?
Animal Kingdom:
Zootopia seems like a logical choice.
Unfortunately for Disney, Universal owns the theme park rights to Marvel east of the Mississippi in perpetuity. Disney literally can’t add Marvel to WDW. The exception is Guardians, which came after the agreement.

Coco is going to be the focal point for beyond big thunder. Also, Inside out should go into wonders of life! It makes no sense to get rid of figment.

The one thing I think Jeff may have missed a little. There are a lot of guests who like to experience the atmosphere and don't need to do attraction after attraction to make a full day. The one thing I don't want Disney to do is make it more about attractions than the overall theming of the parks.
Epcot my prediction is that inside out will go into the live pavilion and maybe another IP with it. but I think they will announce something in that space. Taking Figment out of the ride will be terrible.
DHS I think they will do an expansion but I think it will take out star ways launch bay. I can agree that the Indian Jones show isn't what it used to be, but I think it eats people right now so until they expand elsewhere its hard to take it away. Maybe they can have the Monsters Doors coaster idea come back. or Maybe here is an inside out land.
We need to get Derek to Disneyland. I would contribute to make this possible

*Amy greatly underestimated how excited Disneylanders are for the Country Bear BBQ! We lost Big Thunder Ranch BBQ to Galaxy’s Edge and we still haven’t recovered 😊

I would love to see the Paint the Night parade come back to Disneyland or come to the Magic Kingdom. It is the best Disney parade ever, in my opinion.
I would also like to see an updated version of IllumiNations come to EPCOT. LuminUs is better than HarmoniUs, but it still doesn't match the story of EPCOT- a story of the world.

Magic carpet removed is a massive move. Easily could add a silly ride somewhere... I rather it be shade or fountain or something
Animal kingdom has been abandoned since Aviator. The park just needed a fun replacement for the double twirl ride(?) and maintenance to Dino, which is educational and a great ride, loud and exciting especially for new riders. The hamburger toppings restaurant was always jammed. A great park near a great resort, so let’s abandon Animal Kingdom for 8 years?
The Brazil angle is interesting. There's been rumors in the past of Disney expanding into Brazil and there's the link between Walt Disney to the country as well as the fact that Brazilians have a passion for Disney. All that said, I'm not sure Brazil could handle such a venture from an economic standpoint. I think the be better guess may be a Brazil being added to World Showcase in Epcot. There's currently no South American representation. Could give the Imagineers a chance to come up with a non-IP based ride as well.
Love Derek's ideas for Epcot... Imagination pavilion is the perfect place to capitalize on the success of Inside Out - that IP is perfect for that part of Epcot. New Soarin' + new music for Guardians - both sorely needed, and have to think comparatively cheap fixes (how perfect would Van Halen's Jump be?). And Greece? Perfect. I think at this point the food at World Showcase is a bit overrated, but adding a country like Greece, both from a cuisine and historical significance perspective (not to mention, ahem, directly translatable IP with Hercules) seems a no-brainer to me.

I totally agree with Derek regarding the need for Disney to add an Inside Out attraction and a Coco attraction in Epcot. I am also wondering how they intend to incorporate Indiana Jones into Animal Kingdom. I have been a DVC member since 2009. I became a member because Disney made it so very convenient for me to travel to WDW with my daughter. I t made us feel safe to be able to catch The Magical Express Bus from MCO straight to our resort. It made us feel special and welcome. While she and I still love WDW, my daughter, who will be 28 in October, and I do more Disney cruising now. The parks, for us, are not as appealing. They are too crowded and there are not enough new attractions to keep us going back as often as we used to. I hope Disney will begin to care more about what we consumers want.
