agree with Derek on cake bake! No family or couple staying at BWV wants this as a main dining option. We need big river space as a full quick serve. Make the bakery/deli actually good and have the ice cream shop open before 3:00pm. Pizza windos needs to bring back full pizzas for families staying there.
The menu prices at cake bake shop are beyond ridiculous. $12 croissant, $8 coke, $34 classic eggs Benny and the list goes on and on. It may be a novelty for a year or two but just can’t see it lasting. Obscene price gouging
Just looked up the Cake Bake meal prices at the Carmel, IN location. Average income there, 61k pp. Fairly high in comparison to many other cities. Even still, prices look 10-15% above what I'd be comfortable paying. So if they're even higher at WDW, forget it!
We stayed at BWV in January and had a lovely meal at Trattoria al Forno. I'm disappointed that Cake Bake Shop is extra-high-end at what should feel like a relaxed, casual seaside resort.
I will not be trying Cake Bake. If I am spending that kind of money I will head to a signature dining location like Citricos or the like. I stay at Boardwalk a lot and Derek is right, we need a good Crescent Lake quick service with indoor seating like Grand Floridian or the Mara at AKL. Both have multiple table service and a good quick service. not sure why they think Beach Club and Boardwalk can get away with a gift shop/quick serve. Add one in Big River and both resorts can use it.
Glad to hear you’ve all come through the hurricane basically unscathed. I will probably never attend the quarterly condo association meetings but it was really nice to hear about them and I LOVE that they knew who Old Key Jeff was! Great and fun discussion again - loved spending my Monday morning with you guys!
Reflections may have a slight architectural redesign. Disney has taken so much heat for the airport style resorts they have built recently (Swan Reserve, Riviera, Polynesian). Hopefully they will course correct, returning to a higher theme approach.
The pricing at Cake Bake Shop is wild! Even more so when you can easily see what they charge for the same items in Indiana. I think it's very instagrammable and will be popular for bachelorettes, bridal or baby showers, birthdays etc. Mother's Day and Easter there are bound to be insanity. Whether that makes for a sustainable business is TBD. I wonder about the placement at Boardwalk. For sure the current parking situation isn't ready to manage a destination restaurant; they can barely manage resort guest parking. Seems like would have been better placed at Disney Springs. Boardwalk needs more accessible "regular people" food with no reservations required. I hope that's what comes into the Big River space.
On the question of the cake bake shop pricing. I wonder if they are so high because of a premium cost that a non Disney 3rd party paid to lease this space and so to simply turn a profit they have to price their products to what seems outrageous?
I think they may try combine Reflections into the Cabins association to try and bring down dues but also because they can’t sell them. At this rate the association will expire before it sells out. They’ve sold less than 2% of the points so far. This would increase interest and make it more deluxe.
I don't think the Murphy bed problem will be with the studios at OKW. It's the 1-bed and up that have a problem as the sofas are under the big windows in the living area
I thought when the Cake Bake Shop was originally announced, that they said an afternoon Tea was going to be part of their menu? 🤔Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm going to have to see if I can find where I read that.
Even at the most expensive restaurants, I can usually find something on the menu that I would pay for. But nothing at the Bake Shop looks worth the money.
Also they said I can book on line but 15th 8am no booked allied online it crashed so I had call wait 40 mins and they were telling people to call back unless ur coming next week to poly so it was strict and not right
I feel like the Cake Bake is setting the prices so that it is the special place. There are tons of places to get a cupcake in WDW. This is the place to get something nice for when you get engaged, or have an important birthday, or just graduated, or such. That said, like was said at 46:04, I'm the one who gets the $4 baguette every time. A couple of baguettes and eat slowly while on the Remy queue.
Are the new contracts that DVC sells for these expansions co-termed with the existing contracts' expiration date or are the new contracts 50 years, thus duplicating the situation with OKW and 2 expiration dates?
If they rename Reflections, there could be a clue in the villa art in the Boulder Ridge villas since they already nod to Copper Creek, Geyser Point, and Whispering Canyon. Could be named The Brownstone Villas or Big Basin Gorge for example - especially since the refurb happened after they canceled Reflections. Probably not the case, but worth noting.
I’m really going to need to understand the difference between the penthouse 2br and normal 2br. I’d hope for the point jump it is more than just guaranteeing the top floor Also, for Cake Bake..I agree with Derrick. This thing won't even make it as far as Starcruiser did.
With DVC not showing much imagination in naming the “Island Tower,” I expect them to just name it “Bay Lake Lodge and Cabins” (at Fort Wilderness). That would include the new lakeside cabins and the current FW cabins.
Do you know what’s reasonably priced at Disney World the alcohol in restaurants. Two weeks ago I went to San Angel Inn in Epcot and the Brown derby in Hollywood Studios and I was having margaritas and martinis. I was surprised they were relatively inexpensive.
We’re definitely going to get a name change. Do you REMEMBER when the Art of Animation was originally supposed to be Legendary Years section of Pop Century?!? Disney almost made a mistake then and almost made a mistake now with Reflections. We’re going to see a new name and some new theming. I would agree that this would be tied into Fort Wilderness - the Cabins by themselves can’t survive without it.
I am having a hard time getting a straight answer and I know this group will know so I'm hoping one of the moderators sees this. I am going on my first solo trip to my home resort (CC) in December and have a ticket for MVMCP. Can I enter the park as a DVC member at 2pm? thanks for your help :)
Was it bad consistently throughout the day or just at the beginning and end? I can’t decide between riviera and poly and I think the monorail may swing me towards riviera
@@Itsrichardash I personally just love the Skyliner - it feels like the line is always moving! My issue with the monorail at the GF is in the morning, it would show up already full of passengers, so you’d have to squeeze in. It took away from the premium resort feel. Also, when having to take the bus (ie., post late night party), GF was the last drop off!
You can answer questions when there's only 8 people. If you walking in and there's 100 people complaining about an expensive piece of cake I'm not sure they can spend a lot of time on that.
Reflections of Earth!. I won't go to the tower. let's block some more views. went to Ohana's this year, one and done. meatballs from Cap Cooks the same. I see more Poly listings now on the site.
The two Cake Bake locations in Indy have an afternoon tea that is $65 for adults and $45 for kids 12 and under. Big miss if they don’t offer it there too, especially with the Grand Flo location still sitting empty. Loved the show - thanks for all you do!
Sigh... Another DVC property. Yaaaay. Hey Disney, could you build more affordable properties--more Value Resorts for the rest of us? No? Universal's spectacular new Loewe's hotel has rooms starting at $293. Only a little over the price of a room at Pop Century to stay at a spectacular brand new hotel literally in the park, with a private entrance into the park.
I think there's a market for every bank account in relation to the Cake Bake Shop. People are dropping multiple hundreds at V&A's and Monsieur Paul's. Some people will adore this spot. Remember also some people are FOR SURE about to drop $449 pp to do a premier pass at MK... that $36 poboy sandwich will sell too!
who needs a dishwasher in a studio. I'd much rather have a washing machine!

oh also!! Disney's Lakeside Resort! drop the lodge so no more confusion between Wilderness Lodge

Maybe it’s just me but all I want is for DVC to step up and reimagine their pools and amenities.
They are going to have to raise the dues at Poly 2, because Derek will probably take all the lamps. 😂😂
YAY! You guys are back! Thanks so much for bringing some joy to our Monday morning!
HAHAHA!!! Panda had the line of the video "Put a $10 bill next to it" 😂🤣😂

Crazy prices at the Cake Shop even in Disney benchmark scale!

I loooove the simple name "Disney's Lakeside Lodge"!!! And I am very excited about this resort happening after all 👍🏻
I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get thru and make a ressie at the Tower for my birthday in January!!
Fun show, as usual! Thanks so much to all of you! Great cap, Jeff! Love it so much, I just ordered one from the Disney Store!
Fantastic episode. Jam packed with relevant information delivered in a fun way.

225 pp looks like a great price compared to the 191pp resale offerings, only full price offers accepted is see on some sites.
The tea at the Grand was soooo nice. Mary Poppins was there the Mad Hatter was there the rabbit was there it was so cool.
We booked the preferred 2 bedroom penthouse for opening day. We added points just to stay that one day.

I called at exactly 9:00 when the phone lines were open and got right thru.
I’m pretty sure Poly2 is the reason why Disney took out the sidewalk from Shades of Green stopping them from using the Monorail
I don't think the Murphy bed problem will be with the studios at OKW. It's the 1-bed and up that have a problem as the sofas are under the big windows in the living area
1:02:24 Fort Wilderness Cabins and Lakeside Lodge!
I am glad all of you survived Milton. We wanted to attend the Board Meetings but Hurricane Helene was hitting that day.
Where did you find out about the quarterly meeting? Was it in your DVC portal or did you get an email?
I thought when the Cake Bake Shop was originally announced, that they said an afternoon Tea was going to be part of their menu? 🤔Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm going to have to see if I can find where I read that.
Where is the online registration for these meetings?
Even at the most expensive restaurants, I can usually find something on the menu that I would pay for. But nothing at the Bake Shop looks worth the money.
I like the name Reflections!!
like the tie into Fort Wilderness idea!
I miss big river and ample hills!
Would like you to investigate and report on any hurricane damage to all DVC properties. Thank you
Could the old “Reflections” be a regular Disney property instead of a DVC since there’s plenty of DVC unsold points?
Also they said I can book on line but 15th 8am no booked allied online it crashed so I had call wait 40 mins and they were telling people to call back unless ur coming next week to poly so it was strict and not right

They did allow the first day but second day no they don’t allow future points to be used Oct 15- nov18 I tried twice.
Does anyone know which resort Jeff is speaking too regarding Murphy beds in the studios not fitting?
Old Key West
Cake bake must have listened to your show. There was a new menu posted with lower prices. @Panda, only $20 for the egg sandwich now
Glad everyone same through the hurricane mostly unscathed. Panda and I texted a few times. Friends get you through the hard times

With no meal plan included in bakery the prices r crazy yes

Cake bake shop will be the galactic star cruiser of restaurants no sustainability one and done
Jeff….what the heck happens to my OKW in 2042??????
Amy and Paul…next time you make it up to Pa I’ll buy you a primantis sammich!
Is the Cake Bake shop taking the gift cards? That's the real question, because Indy Costco has them.
Would you jump on 150 points with the $10 off promotion, or try to wait it out for magical beginnings or welcome home bonuses to come back?
Bravo!!..Derek.....someplace to grab a beer n bar food.....if they had to drop ESPN so be it. But at least offer someplace comparable......
Come on Paul, me and 800+ are listening now
I want a brother bear in the Lakeside Lodge….

They stopped doing the bonus time for DVC after the pandemic ☹️ so unfortunately, it’s 4pm just like everyone else with a party ticket.

@@DVCFan thank you. Another site had posted about the 2 o’clock entry for 2024 events but I didn’t trust it.

Personally, I loved BRG. It was decent food at a decent price in a great setting on the BW.
BRG was without question the single worst meal we ever had on Disney property. Worse than Tony's!
If you want expensive food come to Jersey! Disney restaurants are cheaper 😮

Old Key West, but likely just 1 bedroom and higher since those couches sit in front of large windows.
