These valve radios are a very addictive hobby.. Nice to see not much needs doing after all that time standing.. Keep up the good work

That looks like a nice radio :-D
I like the dust logic, not fondled at all.
Shango066 Had a similar radio to repair, it was not his thing but afterwards he loved the sound better than some american radios.
The center switch pack was shorting and smoking, but he didnt give up.
A drop of oil on that mouse would stop the squeaking lol.
Basic radio circuits can work really well and that variable toaster rack is just smashing :-D

You mind yourself too! Might be worth changing the AGC capacitor as well?

Is it a PJ50-something? 508? I fully restored an absolute wreck of a chassis for one of these, it was left in a derelict outbuilding and the cabinet was literally gone. It had turned to dust.
I'm on the lookout for an empty cabinet for one to this day.

From memory I think it is PJ something. I'd imagine there are a lot more chassis than cabinets these days for everything!

I just found your channel when looking for some info on an old family Pye PJ0255 that I am restoring. It looks very similar to the PJ508 - have you ever come across this model and would you have any info on it?

I have always wondered if dropping the tuning capacitor into an ultrasonic cleaner would be a good idea as they are very difficult to clean without bending the vanes, watching you strip that wire has given me an idea for a quick video tomorrow !!!

I couldn't see how an ultra sonic cleaner could hurt, I've heard of people putting them in the dish washer!
