You have said all: genius with a good self-marketing!
He definitely did it well and could teach a class on branding! 😅
There is no survival of the species where no creature decides to be different. There must always be a Salvador Dali.
Regardless of who he was as a person, his art should always be the focal point of his existence
A very thin line between madness and genius and Dali erased it.
Quite successfully ☺️
This is a great way of looking at it!!❤

Making up a persona that extravagant is a work of genius, like David Bowie with Ziggy Stardust or the Thin White Duke.
You’re so right! He knew exactly how to get the general public all riled up, doing all sorts of outlandish and ridiculous things that went against the established order.

Whatever he was, I’m all for it.
What do you like about his art or him?
@@CuriousMuse it’s wildly inventive. I also like the colors.
Certainly an artistic genius for sure....amazing artist and business man
I have 2 dali tattoos.. i always consider him my entry to appreciating art. But i also kind of look at him as low hanging fruit of art.. but, when i stop and think about it further… i have to appreciate the impact his work had on me and how truly genius and prolific his art really is
A surreal character, one of a kind😊
I was just at his Museum and house in Costa Brava and I can confirm he was completely bonkers! But for me he was one of the (if not THE) greatest artists of the 20th Century.
Dali is my favorite. Got 6 lithographs but can't afford any more. ❤
Absolutely genius!
He was a creative genious
IMAGINE being that creative
The moment you wake up
It would drive you nuts

I said it weeks ago and will say it again: Dalí had his fair share of genius, madness, and self-promotion.
Such a flamboyant self-marketing genius! He must have been so funny and fun to be around .😂
Love Dali so much, the whole package. I vote mad genius.
Great depiction of him! 😍
Who knows if he was a genius but he was certainly clever. He knew how to paint and sell himself. Many artists aren't good at selling themselves!
That’s so true - lots talented artists not knowing how to approach things from a business perspective

Know Dali and nothing of what comes after will surprise you anymore.
🇧🇷🇧🇷 Definitely, mad.🇧🇷🇧🇷
To the superfitial he left his public persona so they talk about him, to the arts and humanity he left a legacy of the most admirable body of work as a result of effort and a talent only rivaled by figures of the renaissance. His intellectual curiosity was intense, milimetrical and knew no boundaries, starting as a young man and ended the day he died. A notorious "apolitical" person, despite the lifelong goal of the left-leaning art critics to prove the contrary and tarnish his legacy. In his later years a psychiatrist made an evaluation and confirmed what was evident, that behind the crafted public persona was an intimate, solitary, silent, worker of the arts and a borderline genius.
His work stands for itself, hopefully you study that, hopefully chronologically, and avoid third party interpretations.
Want to learn more about how BARBIE came about! ❤. Thanks. Always informative :)
He was genius enough to capture the world’s attention, and I wish I could afford a Dali work of art.
there is no doubt he was a genius, in the same light as Van Gogh, Bosch and Van Eyck... no doubt.
In an ocean of people wanting everyones attention you must stand out by greatly standout.
You create visual shock, a visual conundrum and visual oxymoron.
Jim Morison, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Modona , Marilyn Manson all do/did what Dali did.
It’s called SELF PROMOTION
He was certainly a brilliant artist. I wonder how he would have done without Gala. She was the business end early on. His private life had much to be desired. Somewhat of a pervert & a fascist. His last years were miserable & he lived in a dark room his last days following a tragic fire. But credit where it's do. I was definitely influenced to pursue an art career by Dali.

4:14 He create aa brand out of himself". True. A performer. A shownan. A narcissistic personality type living a good life. 😊
Can honestly say, no, I have never been to a Halloween party where someone was dressed as Salvador Dali 😂
A genius
Can you do a video about Pavel Kish? His a very interesting painter.
Thanks for the idea!
Dali’s wife, Gala gets most of the credit for Dali’s carefully orchestrated career mash up of branding-where the business of art intersects show business.
To make yourself a miracle is miracle indeed. Not everyone is capable to do so but to admire such a personality is at least we can do. I truly don't understand why he was "turned on" about Hitler 😑😮 but maybe it was all part of his journey we can't completely understand.
Genial❤
A master promoter 4 himself & his art...
YES
I want to learn about Harry Houdini
😱 Did you know that Salvador Dali starred in numerous commercials, wrote a cookbook and even gave a lecture in a diving suit?

Well if you couldn't tell that Dali was a genius then you should not be a judge of what's genius or not let alone mad . Besides insanity and genuine genius are like first cousin's
Self promoter and a genius
I know he is a genius. My Akashic records told me so🧘🏽♂️
👁️👁️
Define genius, then look at Dali
Definitely, he was eccentric; but where does genius come from?
карандаш или кисточка
I, personally, think that his sexual side was greatly hindered by his partner, who wanted to control him in anyway possible for financial gain. He expressed certain idiotic sexual expressions about Hitler, that were absurd, but that's the extent of it. People freaked out, and he escaped into his art, like most great artists do. To try and tie such a man to a few statements and artistic endeavors would be foolish. Sometimes artist do and say the most ridiculous things, but aren't even beholden to whatever it was that they said. Now, doing such things are entirely different in nature. He never tried to have sex with a female Hitler, unless perhaps, he had been emoting about Gala all along?
Shame he was kicked out of the surrealist group for being a nazi sympathiser
Amazing! After so many comments gargling his semen, someone actually says it.
He was a nazi sympathizer, and said that all the POC need to be a slave race. He was a peice of shit.
That's bs. He wasn't.
Edit: he was an attention getter.
@oirampeceda2409 He admired Hitler and admitted to it several times. He was also good friends with Franco, the Spanish dictator, this is why he was kicked out of the surrealist group.
Art critic or amateur psychiatrist ("inside the mind of..")? Leave Dali alone.
Okay 😅
The weakest artist in the surrealist movement, according to every other surrealist artist.
Oh really? 🤔 Who’d then be the strongest?…
@@CuriousMuse either Breton, for the theoretical foundation he provided, or Man Ray, for crossing over to Dada and passing the torch to Duchamp, but I'd argue anyone who didn't have a fetish for a "female Hitler" like Dalí is already a much better choice
@@In.New.York.I.Milly.Rock.yet somehow, Dali's star still shines brighter after all of these years.
No person who says he is crazy is crazy and no person who says he is genius is genius! He is super valuable historical figure though.
I do not like the voice on this clip.
I would like to point out that Dali was a fascist, so no, not a genius. Thanks
He denied that he was. It may have been Gala who was the secret fascist playing games with the man-child?
@@oirampeceda2409 I don't know why you're going to bat for a man who was obsessed with the Third Reich
Since reading, some years ago, that he sexually abused his own daughter (if memory serves me precisely), I could give a rip about Dali ; always did find him to be creepy!
Dali didn't have a daughter. His sex life was put into his artwork. Your comments need some research.
Dali was an original and good painter, not a genius. Of all his work, there are merely a handful of canvasses that will survive the times, especially the early works with landscapes and telephones. His Narcissus myth is a great work, as is the Premonition of the Civil War. The value of his work is also important as an antidote to modernism and the formalistic art establishment of his days. All in all, artists like Picasso and Dali have been greatly overrated. Dali's amusing performance acts are, with hindsight, embarrassing kitsch, as many of his works fall within that genre. His narcissism and anxiety about recognition drove him to escapades which his real artistic talent did not need...... no wonder he was popular among people who had no idea about art or culture.
It seems that his wife Gala was the driving force behind his 'selling' of himself and his commercial successes; as he describes in his 'autobiography', it was she who moulded him into the persona we got to know. But this persona hindered his natural talents to develop. A case in point is the Tuna Fishing, a large canvas where he tried to combine all kinds of different painting trends within one work. But all the different stylistic elements jarr, and the commercial picture of an advert male figure in front makes a joke of the whole. And yet, many details demonstrate his great painterly talents.
Greatly overrated? Who are you, an art expert? If a million people say that he isn't overrated, and a few say that he is, what does that say, especially, since he has already passed the test of time?
@@oirampeceda2409 His work has not passed the test of time. It will take much longer to do that. And yes, I happen to be an art expert. But anybody with some experience of watching works of art will confirm what is said about Dali as above.... because, then you can compare, and look through the superficial outside. I think you should simply see much more art, from any period.
For my is an absolute overrated artist...
