A pretty simple process, but intimidating if you've never done it before. Thank you a lot for this, it really helped me!!
You're very welcome!
You've litteraly saved thousands of lives.
Thousands of stylus lives, right? Why so dramatic..
@@peachesncream781 Bro this is literally the single best needle replacing video on the internet, what are you talking about?
Bro was going to go on a rampage
😂😂💯
Millions maybe
My record player (Victrola Vta-200b), was skipping right out of the box when I bought it. Finally, I changed out the needle and it hasn't skipped once since. You saved me hours of frustration trying to stop the skipping.
I had the same problem with my new Victrola!
Really helpful - thank you so much for taking the time to demonstrate this. Last time I replaced a stylus was in the 60s, so I had no idea what I was looking at.
Damn u old
All I have to say is thank you, this was the problem with my great grandmother's vinyl player. And now i get to hear all her beautiful songs. Thank so much
omg thank you so much! you don't know how helpful this was for me!!
You don’t need god to change a stylus.
It helps actually....
TREMENDOUS! I bought this Leetac record player at a goodwill store and I wanted to replace the stylus and I just kept looking at it dumbfounded. Didn't want to break it so I found your UA-cam Demonstration and I'm good now. Thank you so much!
Thanks man, got all my records back 😂 really helpful video, easy to understand 👍
wow i got mine the other day and the audio was awful so i changed it straight away even though i have only had it for a few minutes but it sounds so good now i might of got a bad one with the record player thank you so much as i am only 13 and couldn’t understand the instructions very well 🤦🏽♀️x
Thanks for the tutorial! I didn't have the instruction manual so after a couple failed attemps about a year ago I got motivated and I found your tutorial today. You made it easy.
Thank you so much, this helped me alot. And drastically changed the sound of my recored player.
Glad it helped!
Thanks! Just bought an upgrade and wanted to give my entry level to someone else but had the exact same problem with the included stylus. Good to know I can easily replace!
No website helped me like your video did. Thanks a lot, I just did my first needle replacement :)
Wonderful!
Exactly what I needed! Thank you so much!
Thank you for posting.. first time owning a record player, and it never worked. 1 year, and I finally ordered the stylus, and your video majorly helped me. Thank you
Tnx I was about to take my recordplayer to the workshop. I will change it myself
A lot of these players ship with pinkish sapphire styli and should be changed in favor of a diamond-tipped replacement out of the box. I noticed a significant difference when I did this with my little suitcase player. They last a lot longer as well.
Quite a bit longer from what I understand too!
@@Recordology Yes. 30-40 hours or so max for sapphire. 400 hours can be expected from diamond. Assuming it's not abused, of course. In fact, I have more issues with the diamond tip breaking off of the cantilever than I do with the stylus actually wearing out. I guess shouldn't complain, in the early days of the acoustic-horn record players, the steel needle was expected to be replaced after EACH PLAY! Seriously, you bought them in boxes of like a hundred, and there was a little cup set into the motorboard next to the platter to store them in.
You durn kids with your fancy belt-drive electric doodads.....!
Are they better for the record?
I don’t want them to eat my wax
I have seen on the internet supposed diamond stylus that have this pinkish tone, are they mislabeled or what?
Helpful presentation…simple, instructive & entertaining.
Thanks!
You saved my record player. Thank you so much!!!!!!
Thank you so much! My brother broke my needle on my very vinyl record player and I couldn’t fix it, your video really helped!
You're welcome!
@@Recordology 😁
My needle completely disappeared and it was a pretty new turntable. I was wondering why my needle kept skating (going left, all the way across the vinyl really fast) over the vinyl and I noticed the needle has completely disappeared. I have no idea how that even happened. I just looked at this and managed to take the piece off. I just ordered a 4 pack of needles and they will come in a couple of days. I'm hoping this is the problem and this fixes it.
Oh no!
Your small effort was a huge Thank You of looking into your video. Thank You so much!
Thanks Brother. Had to replace mine & this helped. Back to playing my Grateful Dead records again.
Thanks so much for this vid I was scared to mess with it until I knew how to fix this for sure so I’m glad this video was very helpful and made the process seem very simple
Thank you, I appreciated the unique lo-fi sound my fucked up stylus gave me on certain tracks, but it's definitely not great for all tracks, and this helps me improve listening quality greatly while in on my first vacation in two years
This doesn’t work for me. The black part comes off as well and I can’t get the needle off. Help?
Thanks so much. Good clear image and explanation
Glad it was helpful!
My UDreamer record player doesn’t have a spot to stick a flathead screwdriver in the red part on yours has a hole shaped like it for yours but idk how I’ll get mine off I think I need a new needle on mine cause mine skips on records
Well yes! 4 years since I bought my record player and now I switched the needle. Thanks!
Thanks man. Worked perfectly.
Awesome! I appreciate your posting how to do this. Can’t wait to do this :)
I thought my record player was gone gone but you gave me hope thank you
I bought a red stylus for my mom's ion Archive turntable. It was a close fit, but not exact. This turntable needs the iCT09RS stylus.
Thank you so much! This saved my sweet little turntable! So excited to listen to my records again! Whoo hoo!!
Omg I almost donated my record player because I thought it was broken completely!! Tyyy
Replacing these things used to be a doooooozy! I have upgraded to a better turntable with a 1/2 mount since then, but the memories are still with me
Hahahahh nice!
Oh yeah I have a turntable with a pmount , 1/2inch mount and this ceramic cart and the red one was a bit of a difficult task at first. I bought the 1/2 and p mount first.
Thank you for this well made instructional! :)
Bless your soul... first time having to change the needle on mine and you saved me a lot of frustration haha thank you!!
I practically bent it into a pretzel by accident. I think I'm done for the day.
lol
I've been trying for some time and couldn't do it. Thanks, I really appreciate you explaining it.
Very helpful and do you have a link to purchase this metal tip stylus. Thanks in advance.
First time record player owner and mine got messed up in my move! This literally saved me $100 thank you so much
Brilliant! Job done well first time thanks to this video and some previous experience with record players. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude that helped a lot, many thanks. Stopped me from busting my Mrs new record player when swapping over to a 78 stylus.
Can you kindly link the actual red stylus with the metal needle you were using for this vid? All the ones I found were the cheaper plastic type. I've got a Numark PT01USB, I assume it will fit. Thank you!
Thanks for showing this! You're awsome.
Are all the red caps the same? Cuz I inherited a yorx compact home audio system and i can’t find the specific cap but it does use one that’s red like this one. Can you also point me in the direction as to what cleaning supplies works best without damaging the system? My uncle kept it in his garage for years and it gathered a layer of sawdust and grime. I DID clean what i could off with hot water and a clean cotton cloth but there’s still grime in the record table grooves and such. Would isopropyl alcohol create damage? I’m trying to be as careful as i can but my uncle didn’t take good care of the device so it’s making restoring it a bit of a stress induced nightmare. Especially when i’m new to record collecting. Any help is appreciated!
Finally!
I was worried for a long time. Thansk!
thank you so much! mine was completely broken and i had no idea what to do! this helped so much
Great to hear!
Extremely helpful, I thought the issue was with the arm.

very helpful, found it very easy to follow. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Not sure if you can help, but I have a Feir record player with a red tip stylus. It doesn’t appear damaged or anything, it plays good on my normal black vinyls, but I’ve noticed it doesn’t fare well on any of my LP colored ones and often will skip. (Have noticed putting very light pressure will keep it from skipping).
I wasn’t sure if a stylus replacement would be beneficial as I only use it lightly, or if there is a way to add more force weight. I’m cautious about this though as I’ve read that more weight can damage the records themselves. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Helpful tips for Turntable, Thanks .
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. You just made my chaotic life NICE.
Thank you very much, from Bogota - Colombia
You are welcome!
Goodness thank you. I had no clue how to change this out.
Perfect - you saved Christmas!
Awesome! Merry Christmas!
Very Helpful little video....I would like to Know how to change the Cart/Stylus unit on my Audio Technica LP60 X..Doesn`t need changing,,,,but would like to be able to do it when i need to...What Cart would i need to order for it please mate ?..I of course know its a white Moving Magnetic cart, but does it have a special number and i guess they can be purchased easily enough..are they expensive ? Havent looked into it... ....Cheers
Ade
For the lp60 it uses the at 3600 but the cart cannot be replaced.....only the stylus unfortunately. The lp3 ads the ability to change the entire cart.
@@Recordology..understood...think i was confused between cart and stylus....so,i need to know how the stylus is changed...is it easy..thanks..ade
I’ve decided to go about and replace the entire cartridge to a banpa BP2ATC. ( These come with a flipover stylus)
And from what I’ve seen it should be a lot better than just a simple stylus replacement
Vwestlife’s done a vid on it ua-cam.com/video/EBbprKEsExM/v-deo.html
Very cool - Thank you for watching and commenting!
you saved my life, now i can listen to my first ever vinyl, AJR!!!!!
Thank you so much man!
Happy to help!
Many thanks 🙏🏿!!
You are welcome!
Where can you buy the replacement needles??
My god thanks a lot. Just bought a new record and turntable the other day and it started skipping all of a sudden. Thought I’d broken the record already. Thank you for the fix.
Hey. Thanks for the video. I am just got a Ion max Lp turntable but the needle I guess is red and plastic and the sound I awful also I think the arm has some trouble cause it jumps. But if I want to replace the plastic red needle that my turntable has for something similar that the ones you showed in the video would you think it will work? Can I get a link to buy a one or two like the ones you talk about from China with metallic needle.
Thanks, a hug from Cuba
My needle fell off the second I got my player so this was litterally a life saver thank you so much
Question which is better a plastic cantilever or a medal cantilever ? On my Crosley jukebox the needle is red (NP-6) I’m guessing the cantilever is plastic from what looks like on Crosley website so my question is which one is better do I need upgrade the cantilever or not ? Thanks for answering my question and I enjoy the videos keep them coming!!!!
Will they work on any Record player?? Mine uses a stylus too. But not sure if I need to buy a correct one for the correct player? I have a Encore Technology AM/FM stereo digital read turntable.
Which model is it?
Hi! Thank you for the nice video! I'd like to ask something: how many different "red tip replacement needles" are out there to buy? I would like to buy a replacement red tip needle for my record player and I am lost because there are dozens of record player brands, but/and their replacement "red tip needles" look exactly the same on the pictures. (I want to order it online) In other words: is there a specific red needle for a specific brand of record player or - I just buy any and it will fit? Given their cheap and plastic nature it is hard to imagine that there are as many types of red needles as many different brands of record players. I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer this! Thanks!
Its a good question and I don't have a great answer.....
hello i have a victrola vta 800B which is a little different model then the one you have.but the radio sounds great ,and the turn table turns but there is no sound the only sound is you can hear the record but its playing like whispering.even when i turn it up.is there anyway to fix this?thanks Richard
I finally got it off this video helped tons thank you!
Great to hear!
In these comments: people who just learned today that it's called "stylus" and not "stylist". 🤦♂️
Bruh isn’t it styli smh 🤦♂️
Thank you so much! It wasn't hard, like you said, but I was so nervous I was gonna break something. And now let's play some records! 🎼🎵🎶
Thanks for this video. It was super helpful!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much! I recently got one and my little brother started to mess with it when I was gone and he messed up the stylist.
Rena Bella same situations here haha, thank you buddy !!
Had to switch out my needle for one that can play 78s tysm for this video
Hello!
I recently got one as a gift for someone and wanted to buy a replacement needle just as backup.
I’ve been trying to find out (to no avail!) what needle the Crosley Voyager uses. Would you have any clue?
Also wanted to ask if they’re compatible with the Audio Technica Needles!
not 100% sure
@@Recordology thanks! i missed the wording in the manual, it turns out (: just in case anyone wants to know, they use the needle NP6, and it’s likely not suitable for the AT stylus! just putting it out there
Thank you so much for taking the time out to reply! 🥰
just broke my record player
Same here
Y3ah same
Same lmao
Can these cause scratches/skips in a record if it’s not replaced?
How do you get the needle down, It seems like its stuck up
I was given a Steepleton Rico Retro player with a 3 speed table so I can play my 78s. Need to swap out the stylus for one that can actually play them though and had absolutely no clue.
Thanks for this.
Thanks so much for this video! Where can I buy the styluses to replace it with?
Thank you! Many available on amazon..... amzn.to/30topmN
I just got a Crosley record player, and it says it features a NP-6 diamond stylus needle. Do I still need to get a diamond replacement needle? Also if I do, which one do you recommend and is there any way it can’t be red? I don’t really like the red. Please let me know :)
Sounds like it already has the diamond one.....unfortunately they are all red as far as I know. Electrohome has grey ones but I don't know if they would fit.
@@Recordology thank you!
Do you know how to replace a needle from the 70s? I need help
Hi, I'm hoping you can help me. I have a red EPS 41 Panasonic type stylus. I want to replace an upgrade to an elliptical and I guess it's white. I'm not sure where I could get this or what to do. It took me forever to find this EPS 41 replacement needle last year so I want to make sure I get the right type of an upgrade. I have a 1994 Panasonic all-in-one with dual cassette player and turntable all in one. I do not want to give it up because the speaker still work great and it's still awesome. So I have tried to find on Google and on Amazon and on UA-cam and not sure where to go with my issue. I don't want to continue to get these plastic kind of diamond stylus. Thank you for any help you could provide.
Hmmm lets see what folks say......
Hi - I just tried this and the whole bottom bit comes off (but is attached so won't come out) - I can't separate the red part. Please help!
Thanks for the helpful vid!
Thank you so much! My stylus fell of and I had no idea how to replace one. This video saved me!!!!
How do you prevent this from happening? I've used mine three times and it has already bent.
I did this on my previous, identical Victrola record player, with no problem at all. I now have a second player and the stylus will not break free from the cartridge. In fact, the cartridge actually came loose (just remained attached by the connecting wires), but it's as if the stylus is fused to the cartridge. Any suggestions? I don't want to destroy the record player, but I have a diamond tip stylus I want to use. Thanks!
So helpful. Thank you!!
GREAT! I just got a new record player to replace my old dud.
hello nice ones!! I have a bush RPA1 which used a plastic one, will the metal arm red tip fit it ? thank you !
Thank you very much for the video!! Could you send me an amazon link of a replacement for these red needles but make sure they are good please!! I have turntable the Numark PT01 Touring…thank you
Thanks for your tutorial!!!
this was awesome and easy, thank you🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You're so welcome!
Hi when I went to change the red part a small blue piece that is rubber fell out and I cannot get it back in . What should I do. Please help me.
Thanks for posting this great help
You bet
so mine is making a really high pitched sound while playing, should i change it out? i just got it today.
