- Oren Lyons retells the classic story "The Wizard of Oz", from an enlightening (and very different) Native America perspective.

Wisdom is vastly more important than knowledge. From the Indus Valley there was a saying that the gods of the heathen are gold and silver. I now understand how the most important wisdom to follow is that of what you have said, that we are all part of the web of life and we need to look after our neighbors, and that our neighbor are all things.

ABSOLUTE TRUTH
It is a series of very, very strange stories. I think most people have only seen the one movie, that really altered a lot of things. And as you read them you realize that the scarecrow is very smart, the tin man very compassionate, and the lion very brave, they just didn't believe in themselves. Which makes Mr. Lyons' interpretation even more interesting to consider.

Always thought Wizard of Oz was rather creepy. I've watched Judy Garland docs on YT that said she was coerced into taking speed type pills to work long shifts on the set. OREN LYONS is an intelligent, intuitive true person AND SHOULD BE A NATIONAL TREASURE whose every word i hang onto like it's more precious than gold. Its very interesting and not suprising he saw the symbolism and bs.
It's such a shame that an innocent movie, could be about wicked things in reality.

How can anyone say there's no truth to this interpretation? Another person who puts this story in a different light is Gregory Maguire, who wrote the 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' series. I've met him, and he's one of those American writers who is somewhat well-known but not nearly as popular as he should be. The way he takes classic tales and exposes the ideologies in them by flipping them around, and reflecting our current world at the same time, is brilliant.
Lol, and to "Repent" also means to flip around, (I've heard).

Oz=ounces=oz. Silver shoes in the book for Silver, not ruby. NEVER did I know this... He is THE WISEST MAN!
It's about alchemy, the silver. And the yellow brick road is actually gold. Refer to song; Stairway To Heaven. Oz is the SPIRITUAL UNVEILING. Also the Awakening which 'supposedly' started in 2012.
Read Baum's political writings. Chief Lyons has exactly the precise interpretation. Baum said it himself, Chief Lyons is just pointing out truth.

There was a difference between the book and movie: in the movie Dorothy's slippers were red, but in the book they were silver. Mr. Lyons is right. It was about money backed by: gold or silver (from out west) or nothing (fiat). We got nothing!
Gold has always been the real currency in terms of money. It always will be.

Wizard of Oz is worse than you think. The scarecrow was the guy who would come in with pretty eyes pretending to be friendly only to lash out later... "I wasn't thinking!"... It was also an exploit on the first attack of the indigenous... the father being mocked for crying with his red nose... (Rudolph)... Then they would chop off the beak and tie them to a tree with the skeleton hands being the branches...
