  • How did Oren first learn about his relationship to the Earth? Listen to his story...
This video was produced by the Sacred Land Film Project, sacredland.org, a project of Earth Island Institute. To deepen public understanding of sacred places, indigenous cultures and environmental justice, the Film Project produces a variety of media and educational materials-films, videos, DVDs, articles, photographs, school curricula and other materials. The Sacred Land Film Project uses journalism, organizing and activism to rekindle reverence for land, increase respect for cultural diversity, stimulate dialogue about connections between nature and culture, and protect sacred lands and diverse spiritual practices.
Its latest project, Standing on Sacred Ground, StandingOnSacre..., is a four-part series that chronicles indigenous people in eight communities around the world standing up for their traditional sacred lands in defense of cultural survival, human rights and the environment. Watch them stand against industrial mega-projects, consumer culture, resource extraction, competing religions, tourists and climate change.

His words prove the difference between schooling and true education, the difference between knowledge and wisdom. I'm a 57-year-old non-Indigenous grandmother, and his words ring true for me too.

I come back every now and again.. I think this one of the best videos on UA-cam. The story really does give a great perspective on how we are rooted to this earth and that without it we wouldn't exist.
Edit: the last part I realise is a very obvious statement but I will keep it in anyways lol peace and happiness to you all on this journey through life.

I have come to realize I am one of the rainbow people. I have been separated and tested greatly and need guidance.
Please send words with the birds for the great mother says I am a tree and all the animals are under me. I am in darkness, to find my tribe and prepare to lead.
I believe but people are attacking me. I was told to remember the words of the songs as we are Gods music, they keep taking my memory. Please help guide me they are taking her gifts she has given me. My sight my hearing and heart. I am in music city. I will listen closely.
I WILL NEVER STOP DANCING ✌🏼💕🔥

I know what this video is about. I am simply commenting on the background. I'm a visual person and a critical thinker, so I think a better background, one that is more relevant or has more meaning, could make a greater impact. I listened to his words, and yes, I learned something. What I wrote is my opinion, please understand it in the right context.

" Learn " that amounted to nothing more then a waist of time, energy and a bad back !. Never did we get introduced to the fact that we were all part of the land, dependent of it and how it could provide for us if respected ...

This video asks such a powerful question. "Who are you? Who are you? Who are you? Is that it?"
There is a big difference between being educated and being wise. Thank you for showing me my ignorance.

In my opinion mankind, no matter what period of time you are talking about has and always turned his back on God, and always will until the end of time. Mankind is completely unable to humble himself and bow down to his creator. The greatest comment ever made was by Jesus when he said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" Who in the history of mankind has lived by these words. Look at the rulers of the earth today, full of arrogance, hate, greed, and the love of themselves, with no thought or pity for the poor among us. We have broken God's heart. The end of man's rule is near.

I remember when I was younger hanging out in a certain group and there was some girl who had Native American bumper stickers on her car, dream catcher rear view mirror and a license plate that was personalized that read Crow clan on it or something like that. I found out that she had absolutely no native lineage and I wondered why she was like that. Then I found out later it was because she liked Native American guys and so she did that stuff to ingratiate herself to a Native American guy who eventually used her and dumped her. Even after that she still went on with the same type of identity I guess you could call it. It's hard to watch white people act like this, no racial or even cultural identity other than white guilt fed to them by liars and snakes. One time I challenged her about her bumper sticker which stated we don't own the land the land owns us. The way I did it was I asked her what she thought about Indian lands being taken and she stated that the Indians were the first owners of the land and then the white man took it from them forcibly. I then said you just stated that Indian lands were stolen and that they were the original owners and yet you have a bumper sticker which reads we don't own the land, the land owns us and I asked her, which is it? And that's when I told her that that proves that Native Americans speak with a forked tongue and I asked her which one is it again? She was dumbfounded and remained in silence, walked away, and the other people at the picnic tables and around the campfire were just shocked that I would do it because she was really good-looking. It doesn't matter how good-looking a person is if they have a messed up mind. Native Americans are a defeated and conquered culture and rather than accept it and move on many of them blame others for things that happened before we were even born and of course they wear the garments of victimhood identity so well. I know Native Americans that got angry when the Redskins changed their name, they took pride in that name and I jokingly told my friend that they did it for your own good bro. He just laughed and slapped me on the back as I grabbed another beer from the cooler for both of us.

Another Worldviews online viewer here..loved this story, especially as I come from a family of fisherfolk. Started this course as I completed the Coursera Astrobiology course. The juxtaposition of looking out into the universe with this one of looking inward towards humans on one little planet is especially enriching. Oddly enough, both courses give perspectives on how like a tree is a human being...

His words inspire me and make me think that his (or a man's who instructed him) view of life is what the current society needs. It poses a profound and essential question that "developed" society forgot to ask: what is life, who are you?
This video shows that our lives are deeply rooted into the Earth and life itself is a part of a universe.
