Bought a X1D a while back (first version) and took it to Thailand in March. Did social doc work with it, such a wonderful mobile tool. Carried the camera into a garbage dump and a slum for 2 long term projects. The file sizes are huge and will be printed super large for a coming exhibition at the end of October. Got to love the camera in all aspects. I liked it so much I bought a second X1D body, so now I can use the 21mm and 45mm lens more fluidly. Want to get the 80mm as well but need to save. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The Hasselblad is GORGEOUS!!! Why can't the Japanese make cameras that look this beautiful with such a straightforward approach? And the images you've captured are stunning. Congrats on this fabulous work.
Todd, Have you really checked the glass on those filters? Because I am interested but have been disappointed with glass quality of some filters. You spend so much for a top notch lens, it is very important to use the best filter on. Again how are these filters affect your lenses sharpness? Thank you for your reply and advise-AND the great work.
Nice video, beautiful colour snow scenes. I also like people like you reviewing magnetic filters but no one mentions using a hood with them. Except when dull and dry I always use one which I think would have avoided water droplet on your filter, what you think? Thanks for sharing.
Todd this sounds like a really fun assignment. That stormy weather sure does look like what we get here in Ireland. Super video as always. Very curious how you get on with the Hasselblad on project’s.
Thanks Todd, that filter system looks interesting, but how do you cope with different filter ring sizes ? I've got Hasselblad 60 & 70, and threaded rings from 62 to 85 and even a 105mm. . Countryside looks fabulous in your video. Hope your going to answer the eternal LF vs digital question soon, but maybe you'll need the new X1D 2 100 for that. Ha !
Yes filter sizes are always a problem. Most of my system is 67 now. But the other option is to get a larger set and use a step down ring. The countryside really is wonderful around here. I’ve come to peace with the fact that I will shoot both digital and large format. Film prices are really pushing me to digital. The new X2D looks amazing but not in the cards for me…. Yet!
Beautiful shots really nice. Trying to choose between film and digital, how does a 50mp digital file go up against a 6x7 file and 4x5 as far as detail and print size ?
Love your work Todd. Always keeping an eye out for your videos as they are super inspiring. Beautifully put together and fabulous images as always. Would you mind sharing which head you are using on your gitzo tripod? Looking forward to your next episode and further imagery both digital and film. Thank you.
Great to see you out on the road again making photographs!
Thanks, great to making videos again, but it was a crazy busy summer.

Sounds like you have a great system and are using it well.
Another beauty Todd. Looking forward to the follow up!
Thanks working on another one soon!

Thank you. That camera is really fantastic and feels amazing as well. It’s almost perfect.
Because they're not Swedes // A Swede :D
(Fujifilm GFX 100II is pretty stunning as well!)
Highway 40 is one of my favourite drives in all of Alberta. It's always worth a stop at Peter Lougheed provincial park as well.
Yes indeed, that's always a great place!
Nice work, Todd! This almost makes me miss Alberta...
Thanks Cliff, there are some beautiful spots here, but you also live in a great part of this country, hope all is well. Cheers!
Thank you for the beautiful work and honest reviews Todd. Always brilliant.
Thank you for coming along!

Thanks, you can't use a hood with the filter.

Would love to come to Ireland and take photos there, I hear nothing but great things from there.

Hi, I am interested in L-bracket you use with X1D? What is this?

I’ve seen 40x50” prints from a 50meg camera and they are stunning. Film is purely an aesthetic choice now.
Love your work Todd. Always keeping an eye out for your videos as they are super inspiring. Beautifully put together and fabulous images as always.

Hi thanks very much for watching. I am using this head with the Hasselblad, it's very quick and a great head. www.acratech.net/gxp-ball-head/
I abandoned filters a while ago thank God 📷👍
I don’t use them a ton but for certain scenes they still have their place.
So, this is basically a commercial?
Well I would hope it would be a guide for someone looking at a filter system to know what they are like before they spend their money and buy them.
