The last day of the Collectors Expo we were expecting to be slower, but ended up being a buy-heavy kind of day from other vendors as folks were looking to cash out when traffic was lighter.

Dude you right, the taxing is real. Been looking for a good Celebrations UPC deal for awhile now, and the only one I've found, the dude was asking $450. I didn't even TRY to talk him down to what I was thinking.
All I want to say is that vendors have a right to price their items at whatever they want. However, patrons should really vote with their money, as that's what really matters.
By the way, we had 8 Celebrations UPCs on Ebay listed at $315. 😉
Some vendor at a local Bay Area show had a slab at $300 . Market is anywhere from $280 to $300 So I offered him $290 meet him in the middle and dude gave a whole lecture about eBay and taxes plus shipping costs 😂 . There’s a reason the majority of Bay Area shows aren’t that good and this is a reason why .. drive 5 and a half hours south once or twice a year and do the front row show
Facts lmao, funny how the vendors who sell the most are the ones who knock off a few bucks / knock off 10-20% on bigger deals

@ not sure how other shows are but in the bay it’s usually the same vendors with the same cards at every show . I started realizing it after walking a few shows … plus some of them add their own tax on top … crazy
Yeah, as somebody who sells a lot of cards in person and on TCG Player/eBay, I never really understood that argument form the Vendor side. The Tax vs shipping is basically a wash since something that high end would probably be best shipped with some insurance. And then the fees for selling on TCG Player/ebay is 10% (plus a future tax hit). So like, paying $290 is kinda a $20 profit for him. Also, not chance of an accidental headache due to shipping errors or shady customers.
I never understood that argument of Ebay taxes + shipping.
Personally, as an online business that uses Ebay as a storefront, it makes sense to pass on the discount to the customer of what the costs are of Ebay's fees + shipping costs (we always offer free domestic shipping).
We as the seller actually take home more money at the end of the day (not mention less work), the customer gets a below market price on the item, and hopefully you have a now repeat happy customer for future transactions and business. But that's just how we see it, maybe we are missing something. 🤷♂️

Hello! i’ll be in San Francisco for 7h before taking another airplane, any suggestions for good tcg stores? (pokemon)
Unfortunately, I'd say that the shops I'd recommend worth visiting for Pokemon are all located in the South Bay, not near San Francisco. If you just want to take a look at some local shops in the SF region, Lefty's is across the freeway from SFO, but be aware they are priced on the higher side as they are a sports card shop. There's also Versus game store in SF that is catered to TCGs and essentially I'd say is the heart of competitive gaming in SF, but I haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure of pricing/availability.
Where did you get the mat with the dollar denomination
We purchased the buying mat from InkedGaming I believe.
I'm not doing any trade up challenges unless it's lower value and for a kid. Definitely not doing it twice for an adult. You just cheap and broke at that point

I'll admit upfront that trade up challenges aren't advantageous as a business, but we always do our best to help those who are participating in the challenge, regardless of how old they are, as long as it's within reason.
We like to think of it as helping the Community and hopefully stacking up on our karma points. 😉
