Once upon a time there was a TV show called Donahue. On this show they gave Barbie Doll's body measurements. Which it happens were my exact measurements! Then they went on to say only 3 percent of the population of the World has those measurements! Wow imagine how I felt. So fast forward. I am now 69 forever. Still have that same body. I do NOT eat carbs which includes sugar. I do not drive a car, I live in an urban area so I walk or ride my bike. No it is not a bicycle! I look much younger than most of my friends. Not sure why I decided to share, except to say 70 is the new 40 ppl.

Absolutely 💯. I tend to stick with a classic look. Ann Taylor is most of how I usually dress. Every woman should own a full-length mirror 🪞 Fantastic shape wear is key to making our cloth look seamless.

Absolutely! The classic look is timeless, and Ann Taylor embodies that perfectly. A full-length mirror is essential for viewing the entire outfit. And yes, a great fit is key to making any fabric look perfect. Thanks for sharing your tips! 🌟

Did you know that while women may gain weight after menopause, it can quickly be lost when they avoid carbohydrates and eat only healthy fats and protein?
The notion that women should embrace their metabolically unhealthy bodies is terrible advice.
I lost 70 pounds over 8 months and have kept it off for three years. I do not see that weight returning because I am accustomed to avoiding sugar and all carbs. Eating this way is easy and satiating. Eating animal fat, heavy cream, full-fat cheese, olive oil, and avocado seems decadent, but in reality, it is a better way than eating the SAD (standard American diet), which is sad for sure.
There is no such thing as calories in and calories out. We are human beings, and our digestive system is more complex than a calorimeter.

Agreed. 53 y.o., 2 kids. Lost 65 lbs over a year, lifting heavy weights and HIIT cardio. Better shape than years ago. I'd like to add one thing though. It took lots of time, and money for the gym (home workouts are great, but for some not enough). I was able to do it bc of pure determination, yes - but also bc I have 1 good paying, time flexible job, a village to watch my kids, and access to plenty of healthy food. It's frustrating that being healthy in the US is - in part - structural. The 30 y.o. talk-show wellness expert who tells women "you just have to find the time and commit!" - has no idea that working 2-3 jobs on your own while raising kids makes a basic life necessity like "staying healthy" virtually impossible. Good luck to everyone trying to make this work as we get older, against whatever our obstacles.

I think that the message was : take a look now at your actual body size and dress it well (instead of choosing things that don’t fit you or eg trying to hide your curves).
It doesn’t mean that you need to stay that way (I didn’t understand it like that).
Disregarding the diet you want to eat or you are able to follow the basics will always be the same for a classic population: eat whole foods, avoid ultra processed food, avoid white flour / cookies / soda (the low quality carbohydrates) etc., eat plenty of fiber…. I imagine that it’s what you did.
You can still loose weight even of you eat some whole grains, beans, legumes and starchy veggies… next to protein and healthy fats of course.

Capris and 3/4 sleeves make me feel awkward. When wearing either there are memories of growing quickly, and out of my clothes, as a 12 year old. There’s an Incredible Hulk vibe. Capris are not flattering in general as they often cut off at the widest part of the lower leg. They tend to shorten and widen the appearance. Apparel makers must love the trend since it’s less fabric per garment. 😂

    • @emmsue1053
      @emmsue1053 Місяць тому +1

Yes, you need to be tall & fairly slim for capris, as mentioned by Carol! We are also assuming here that mature women are naturally "larger" which is untrue.. They also need to hit where the calves slim down.. They *are back in fashion though!

The subject of this video is not looking old. Anotherwords, retaining a youthful look. Yet all of your models are young and lovely. As a “mature” woman, I feel that defeats the purpose and the message is lost.

I would love to say this was a helpful video, but you’re not playing to your target audience. You’re trying to tell women how to look younger and accept changes that age brings, but to keep up with their looks, maintain self care and exhibit class and confidence as we age, and that is good advice. However, you used heavyset young women as the frustrated models, then thin young models as the goal you are encouraging. I don’t want to look younger, my goal is to look well kept for my age. I want to make sure I’m using appropriate skincare and makeup for my age, not to look younger, but to look like a woman of 69 who cares, makes an effort, and looks pretty darn good for 69. Younger to me is 65, it’s silly to think all older women want to look young again, we’re not young. But WE CAN look very good and well kept through self care. Most of your models had to be in their 20’s, possibly 30’s. If that’s your target audience, well done. If your target audience is women in their 50’s or above then you don’t have a clear view of how to appropriately target that age group. Aging is a privilege not everyone is granted and I keep my skincare and make updated to target issues older women who want to remain attractive for their age would benefit from. The models you are using are not the women you claim to be targeting.

I don't have to worry about #1. I took after both grandmothers whose weight stayed constant through their life...they were thin women and I took after them. I'm 50 years old and could wear the same clothes that I had when I was 20, if I still owned them (I'm a size 0-2, which was a size 4 30 years ago). I agree with the rest 100%. I still have a black wrap dress that I bought from the GAP back in 1996 and it still looks brand new. I admit that I don't smile anymore and that's because my heart is now full of anger, hatred, resentment, and bitterness which I know are toxic for beauty but until I leave America, that will be me. Will the old Darlita ever completely come back, IDK. I hope so, though. Severe INJUSTICE, having one's life stolen, children stolen, being a human guinea pig for 40 years, and being given an undeserved death sentence can do that to a person...no matter how light hearted and jovial they are.
To answer your question, I will implement adding a pop of color sometimes when I wear all black. The rest I pretty much already do, except smile.

The videos like this, there is no wonder why some women feel defeated. As we age our body change. I’m in my early 70’s most women are not a twiggy size anymore. I have no doubt women like me want to look good and the majority of us can’t afford to buy the expensive clothes anymore. I’m done watching videos like this. They are no help at all.

I understand your frustration. It's crucial that fashion is inclusive and celebrates all ages and shapes. True elegance comes from feeling good about oneself, regardless of the price tag. I'll reflect on how we can better address this diversity in future content. Thank you for sharing your perspective. 🌺
