Tyler really is a force of nature as a writer. Even from the jump, he's been so eloquently putting words to these complicated emotions so many of us have felt, that they don't feel as scary or intimidating anymore. I owe that man so much money, for basically being my therapist for years now! Self-Titled is such a beautiful, artsy album, and I am SO excited for you to hear the rest of it!
Guys, I can't begin to explain how fabulous it is to watch you 2 getting to know my most precious music. You're not just sitting there, nodding along and repeatedly saying "dope' or 'fire'!! That's what I found from most other reactors. It's the reason I only watch you guys now!! So....March to the sea! This song, written by a teenager struggling with his mental health and his faith. Yet... This song has pulled me back from the edge on many many occasions. I'm a grown ass adult, I didn't feel it was acceptable for me to get to a certain age, kids in collage, nasty divorce at 25 years of marriage. When I thought I'd reached my end and couldn't even force my feet to keep moving forward. In comes this song. Those lyrics, that pain, that HOPE. From a kid??? Tyler is simply a genius, to take his pain and faith and work it out through music & lyrics. Kyle, thanks for being so damn genuine. I love watching knowing you guys get it too. FABULOUS! Oh, and Happy New Year boys xxxx
my interpretation of this song is that every single person in life goes the same route. floating through life into death. but that spaceship is God. whispering saying “follow me instead” and saying you don’t have to go the route everybody else does. follow me.
I feel like drums in The Line is a little call back to this song, as a march to the end (of the sea /end of the line). Really appreciate you guys staying on the Twenty One Pilots journey. We’re here till the end.
I really like this one. I think the overall story is about how each day you need to choose to break out of the line of just following along with everyone. It isn't something you can just decide and never have to worry about again; it's easy to fall back into patterns/routines so you need to make that choice every day. The last song on the album also touches on this (we wake up every morning and decide what we believe).
So thankful for a last TOP reaction for 2024! This journey through their albums with you makes me so happy - your reactions make everything new again. Happy New Year, my dudes!! Keep it coming!!
But hopefully not every song. Only those which weren't remade in Vessel. They don't need to listen to Regional at best car radio and trees. These are just bad
So few reactors go this far back with TOP, but this is where you really can appreciate Tyler’s genius and authenticity! Knowing the back catalog really helps a listener appreciate the current songs even more!
I just recently discovered and fell in love with TOP and am devouring a bunch of content, so I binged-watched a bunch of your reactions. Y'all are so appreciative of the lyrics and music and it's always nice to see people who don't look at music on a surface deep level, which unfortunately a lot of people do. I'm just getting to know TOP but their lyrics are so poetic and emotional, plus they're so damn pleasant and fun to listen to in addition that it feels very fresh to me. Glad y'all are covering them and enjoying their music!
A great reaction, from what has been said on the original lyric video, this was Tyler's attempt with the big S thankfully the took another path and the world is so much better with 21 pilots
I just noticed some errors in the thumbnails of the videos of this album "Implicit Demand For Proof" has the number #1 in it "Fall Away" has the number #2 in it "The Pantaloon" has the number #3 in it Then for some reason "Addict With a Pen" has number #5 in it "Friend, Please" doesn't have any number at all And now "March to The Sea" has the number #6 ???
To me this song is very religious. The ways of the world is the line that is dead. People who are marching to their doom without ever knowing it. And the voice her hears is God- calling to say follow him instead. I like how he mentions his “counterpart” which is the earliest form of blurry face I believe. The part of him that wants to just keep marching as it’s easier. But it’s also interesting to show (yall touched on this) but how the cycle continues. Hes not taken out of it- but he’s given the strength to carry on and walk a different way than the rest of the line. Great reaction!!
Yes I definitely agree. The march to the sea is a march to our end, death. Which is inevitable and inescapable. However, the "lines" leading to death may look very different. At the end of the song, he is "put in his place", so instead of being close to the sea, it seems he was placed to a different location in the line, heading toward the sea but further from it, give more time to live life. I definitely find it ironic how Tyler is able to touch upon deeply spiritual thoughts and realities better than most "religious" music. It's been too long since I've listened to the song, but it is a beautiful piece.
Sooo clever lyrics, simple and deep...a, Tyler is a great storyteller, simbolism, (the sea,the line, the spaceship...) these few elements combined in different ways depending on many things!!! Hugs from Buenos Aires!! 👽💀🌼🇦🇷💖
Btw: twenty one pilots re-uploaded the official versions of self titled on UA-cam to fix the copyright system with it and ensure that the Monetization is usually off or shared. Previously, it was not copyrighting anything so they re-uploaded them.
I’ve been listening to this band since 2012 and this was almost always a skip song for me. I don’t know how I never got it until right now. This was so powerful, I’m so glad you guys reacted to it with the lyric video! Thanks for the reaction guys, it’s been so fun following your twenty one pilots journey
Love the reactions guys, don’t wanna rush because there’s SO many good songs on this album but as a Christian myself I cannot wait until you guys do “Isle of Flightless Birds”
That is still to this day my favorite TOP song. It is such a powerful statement on moral relativism and the decay it leads too. I've heard it a thousand times and still cry every time. I love how the end gives room to not only sit with what we just heard in that song but really what was said throughout the whole album. PS...I am a Christian as well.
Technically it was tyler, no drummer help make the album, all the drumming was digital, Chris did play those drums live but as far as I know, never for the album's recording
tyler has a passion for symbolism that is as universal as it can possibly be. what is a spaceship? in this world, but not of it. [cut scene: josh playing the evergreen character foil, for a long time with a green alien mask.]
I always hear him singing Dema in the background in this song. Tyler has been creating the lore since the beginning and it blows my mind! This song is about choosing God vs. having no faith. The line to the sea = death/nothingness and choosing God is eternal life with him. I love Tyler and his genius mind so much!
Thank you ! It’s my favorite song ! I was waiting for this reaction! Love yours videos ! And now I want when you end reacting this album, we all need Tyler Joseph’s songs “A car a torch a death” and all of songs making by Tyler in web, all of them you can hear in UA-cam! Thanks one more time !
Great reaction. Off topic, I’m not sure where to do requests. Ren has a song that is only available on Bandcamp. It’s called Castles Made of Sand. It was released as a bonus track for his sick boi digital album to increase his downloads so he could get number 1 on UK Billboard. It is his best song in my opinion. You have to do it.
I haven't listened to this song in a while, it made me realise I've been marching down the line for some time... I love TØP Loved the reaction, I also cant wait for you to listen to Trapdoor too
I dont want to come in here correcting people but to begin with Twentyone Pilots was three members when this album was made Chris was there and their friend Nick Thomas. Also not sure if its ever came up but the name 21 Pilots is a reference toa play “All My Sons.” In the play, a dude named Joe Keller sends out faulty airplane parts during World War II, leading to the deaths of 21 pilots.
@@Rykerroad Yeah I think when people say Tyler did it all himself, they mean he wrote, recorded, engineered, produced etc as it was done in the basement studio of the house way before they were a professional band. Or they might be referring to Regional At Best which is the album Tyer had pretty much finished when Josh joined, so that has programmed drums.
Yeah. Think we all knew they were 3 at the start. But saying Tyler did it on is own is really the truth. He wrote, sang, played, recorded etc. It's nice to have someone mention it, also to mention the quote "and 21 pilots were dead" or was it died, or didn't come home??? It's new years eve & I. Not going to check lol. Nice comment!
"I see the spaceship in the sky... follow me..." It should be noted that at the beginning Josh was presented as an alien and Tyler was a skeleton so...
Y'all need to react to Tyler's song (before Twenty-one Pilots was formed) called Drown. I've been recently obsessed with this song, and you'll have a lot of food for thought with this song
This was definitely long before the Lore, but I love you guys trying to hear Lore in everything. I always liked to think A Car A Torch A Death was lore related (They talk about a torch and stuff)
Before josh joined the band you can see him in the audience of twenty one pilots shows so his drumming is probably similar to this from being familiar with the music and also just a great match
Every time they talk about how a song can sound enpowering and hopeful but the lyrics are about struggles, i think in what will be their reaction when they listen to Not Today
*THIS SONG IS ABOUT STRAYING FROM GOD AND THINKING YOUR WAYS ARE BETTER, BUT THEY'RE NOT, SO WE NEED TO REPENT AND FOLLOW HIM!* To answer the question; yes, we all sin everyday and make our way to doom, we need to be on track and be with God!
