This cup is far more forgiving on PC than it is on the PlayStation. The PS1 version restricts you to 10 starter cars only, leaving you at mercy with the faster A.I. opponents, where as PC here does give you some of the cars you unlock later on, ASWELL as making the A.I. completely random so that there's a chance to be with both starter cars and the faster hidden cars. Combined with a much better handling system on PC, this is definitely why I always recommend people give the PC version of Test Drive 5 a look over the PS1 version.
@@SolidSonicTH I'm at least half certain the pc version was a native Windows version, so besides potential modern OS fuckery where you might need to consult pcgamingwiki for potential fixes, it should be easy to get up and running.
@@SonySupporter In the 90s, some PS1 racing games had heavy handling physics compared to the PC version, that happened with Need for Speed High Stakes.
To this day I still can't find a PC game that plays the same as Test Drive 5. NFS, Forza, etc, while they are fun in their own way, feel different than TD5. I wish these games get a proper remaster or sequel!
Super nostalgic. Wish I could go back to my childhood during the mid/late 90's and early 2000's. Oblivious to the BS in the world, all my family still around and in good health, the video game scene not a vile & toxic cesspit on all fronts (take the recent G4 drama for example) like it is now (at least to my knowledge at the time), game's or fun and released complete, and demos lol. 😎
i feel the same way. seen a lot of people who grew up in the 90s say this and even kids recently who are going through the media of the time, they feel nostalgic for something they didn't even experience. i think things in general are crappier.
One of the great features of this game was the high score menu, where the best times were saved for every track with the date of the race, the car used, and also a custom name you could give to your performance. Nowadays, I don't see this in many of the modern racing games, if at all.

td4 has much more fluid graphics compared to td5. td4 is much faster which brings a feeling of need for training when playing it (feeling of much greater speed). td5 has a track editor and force feedback although the simulation is not the strongest part of the series and the steering wheel is not necessary. Comparing them to the master example of racing games from the 90's and 00's which is the Star Wars Racer, td4 is much closer to this.
Watching this, it seems unbelievable that this game is three to four years younger than the initial Need for Speed. What did the developers do in the meanwhile - take a long nap?
Hello bro. I have this game on original CD and played it as a kid. I wanted to know how do I can get new cars, and maps, please respond,I miss good old days :)
to unlock tracks and cars you pass all the cups of the cup race mode and pass all the races of the single race mode, in each gameplay that i have done in this game i put what is unlocked in the description of the video
i have the games on virtual disks, the music is on the disks. what you have to do to make the game play the music is to mount the discs in the letter "B:" or also in the letter "A:" (this procedure of mounting the discs in those letters is only done with virtual disks)
download them on a page called "my abandonware", in the search engine you put "test drive", the games in the saga will appear, to download the game disc you select the game and give the option that is almost at the end of the page "Download ISO Version"
My childhood’s game, I’ll never forget this =)
the good old days!! Thank you for making me remember a beautiful time!

Fair enough. Can the PC version be run on any modern OS or are we talking DOSBox and stuff?

Isn't the handling system the same? I can't see any differences. Both versions have arcade and simulation.

Nice driving.
The racing lines, throttle control, braking points, reaction time, map awareness. All very good.

how are you able to handle those cars so well
well, it's a matter of memorizing all the tracks and knowing the type of handling of each car :)
