Great to know that I can use a factory style cam since I don't want a crazy high lift cam in a daily driven truck I tow with on the weekends. Going to 4.10's to offset my 35's, I'd be interested to see how much power one could pick up from a L8T cam in a L83 truck. Looking forward to getting this done!
You can always talk to the guys from Texas Speed and Performance and I’m sure they can grind you a great DD cam with a lift higher than stock but not crazy high for better performance and fuel economy
I am interested in understanding WHEN I need to retrofit my 2014 5.3 Silverado. I have nearly 70K miles. I disabled DOD beginning in late 2016 when I purchased my truck with about 20K miles. I note that even with AFM/DOD disabled, my engine consumes oil. About 2-3 quarts every 10k miles.
Nicely Done! If and I stress "if", I heard you correctly you said you could keep the high volume oil pump on LT engines as ECM handles it. How about on an LS??? Some say its bad the over pressure valve will send it back to the pan but the GM deflector that was introduced in 2009 (I think) to keep that returned oil from spraying on cyc walls can be used on earlier engines for same purpose. I read that in the GM parts catalog. So any reason you cant keep the high flow pump in an LS?????
Hello - good information. I have a misfire on my '16 GMC with the 5.3, #6 cylinder about 75psi along with the tick. Want to eliminate the system and would like to purchase your kit. My question is, what will happen if I do not delete this from the ECU, do I get CEL, drivability problems, unable to pass emissions???? Thanks
Can you make a video or tell me where to prime the oil system on the newer lt style motors. There’s a port above the oil filter but not sure if it’ll be filtered.
There is a spot that feeds into the system on the driver's side (on some LT blocks). The top is the oil supply, the bottom is the oil return that just drops right back into the oil pan. It's usually blocked off on LT cars but the vacuum pump is there on the trucks.
Will this kit work on a 2019 5.3 , I'm also not using the direct injection, I'm going old school carb and would you guys offer a slightly bigger cam than stock ?
Did I have to install phaser limiter with a stock non dod cam I got the kit from you guys and did get the system removed from my ecu but no actual tuning was done my truck keeps throwing p0011 could that be it needs tuning or the phaser limiter wasn’t needed
I have not seen an L82 block, but if it has AFM and not using the large block plugs like the L84, you should be able to use this kit. I'd have to check on Monday when I get back to work and have the parts catalog to look through.
@@Sdpartscenter hey thank you for getting back to me, sounds good, and I appreciate you looking into it Monday, i figured it might work because from what i was told the newer afm l82 is pretty much the newer updated version of the l83, it’s featured in the more entry level models of the 2019-2021/22 ltd like the custom and the w/t, it did come with the afm tuned out from the factory from 2021-the 2022 ltd model years due to the chip shortage to which you can find out through the rpo codes that they were designated either yk9 but the engine still came with the me mechanical components unfortunately not fully deleted from the factory just tuned out
The ramp rate/lobe profile of the AFM lifter lobes are different from the non AFM lifter lobes. A non DOD cam will have uniform lobes for all cylinders.
It's not a CARB certified part, requires tuning, therefore not legal for sale in California. Solutions? Elect different officials that run the state. Move out of California.

Just ordered a delete kit for my LT 6.2 2016, the only part that does not come in the kit is valve cover gaskets. Might want to add it or at least mention it to customers. Also may need some push rods?
The main reason they aren't included is that the Gen V LT valve cover gaskets are reusable, but if in some case your gaskets are worn out and leaking, then yes by all means replace them. sdparts.com/i-24121636 Because the base circle and lift is not changing (only the ramp rate), the pushrods can be reused as well, of course inspect their oil holes for blockages/debris and unnecessary wear on the tips. sdparts.com/i-20071230

Hi, if I installed this kit on my 2015 Silverado, do I need to additionally install the VVT Phase Limiter? Appreciate your feedback at the earliest as I need to box up my engine SOON
Most will not run, others will run with a bad missfire but would not recommend driving it without a proper base calibration. If you're doing an upgraded cam, any tuner worth their salt should be able to benchtop tune the pcm for a basic startup if they aren't able to make a house call.
Thanks for the he info, I installed the tsp stage 1 vvt cam with ls7 lifters, new springs, pushrods, trunnions, ls9 head gasket, and arp head bolts. The car turns over but won’t fire up. I guess I’m gonna have to trailer it to the dyno.

I've talked to all the big shops and they keep saying no and I have one mechanic that has done one and the truck is running after 3 years. Have you ever done or has anyone done a hybrid yet?
In 2019 the engines changed to dynamic fuel management, so the block itself is different along with how many cylinders can be deactivated. We're wanting to do a video on this but we haven't sourced a bare L84/L87 block and don't have any in the cores yard just yet.
Hi guys! I'm the second owner of a 2015 Sierra with 77k miles, L83 flexfuel 5.3ltr married to a 6 speed 6L-80. How do I know that my truck hasn't already had the AFM deleted? I drove 60 miles from LBK to Levelland at a steady 70mph and saw no indicators that it was switching into 4 cylinder/eco mode on my instrument display. I'm not a mechanic either but the AFM issue is very concerning and if I can head it off I'd love to.
There's always a possibility that it's been shut off, or deleted. Some shops with HP Tuners can just check your calibration to see if it's enabled or not.

I keep seeing other guys saying you cant use the L86 cam with the heads from the 5.3 but if this 100% is not the case i will be ordering this right away i have a stuck lifter and when the DOD/AFM engages she sounds like a stuck pig.
It is unnecessary to change camshaft - Because the lifters are the same size, they are different look, but absolutely use same size rods and arms. The rises of valves will be absolutely the same. And the difference in camshaft petals dod and non dod is 0,13 mm. And if you will change lifters with the guides non dod the height of valve lift will be same as stock and will be no misfires.
