For someone who "doesn't speak english", Korone has an incredible ability to make herself understood.
While Korone doesn’t speak proper English, she can somehow interpret what Kiara said, no mistakes made.

@@zeiruscop She certainly knows *how* to use the words she knows to convey meaning, and this is a great highlight of that. That's a skill many (heck, most) people struggle with, even in their primary language.

It seems to me she's been subconsciously learning English, like just now she learned a new word without even thinking about it. Her English only stream is disjoined but she maintained it for a long time and chose words that conveyed her meaning with little thinking time. I remember a compilation clip of every time she said "Happy Birthday" showing her pronunciation steadily improving. I also remember she noticed the grammar was wrong on an English phrase when she was playing the Telephone game but just had to roll with it. I was so weirdly proud of her at that moment.
Yeah absolutely. People get anal about doing things right when learning a language, or when westerners listen to other people speaking English.
You don't need to be perfect, you just need to be able to be understood. "I eat juice" may not be *right* but it's able to be understood. Yeah sure the correct would be "I am drinking some juice" but if your goal is to communicate, the former is more than a passing grade.
Except Ko'one _is_ good. Notice how she doesn't speak incomprehensible nonsense.

It's impossible to not have a massive grin on your face while watching Korone.
The beautiful thing about Korone is that behind all of the vtuber shtick and internet culture she really is just a good old fashion entertainer. OBS gives her a play set and she can engage anyone at any level from any nation and still bring home the feeling of just being in the company of a person who knows how to entertain her audience.
Heck, if anything Korone is _the_ quintessential vtuber. Notice how she is the only notorious chuuba that actively and frequently plays around with her model even mid-stream and uses it for gags and bits.
The only other one I can think of is Marine when she uses the tip of her hat to point at stuff on the screen, but that's a pale imitation of how hard Ko'one goes.
@@DinnerForkTongue Miko plays around her Model pretty well too. I think Korone, Nene and Miko are the best at utilizing their Vtuber Models. It makes it more engaging and realistic.
She used to be a streamer before become Korone and she sometimes wear a silly moustache glasses on her stream. Shes a funny and silly girl and never change❤❤

I love when Korone interact with the overseas fans she sounds so excited to talk with us, and personally it's not only cause of the fact that we may have a nice comprehension, but overall she does an amazing job explaining what she wants to express, from the meaning of what she wants to explain, in this case soup, to the pronunciation of a word and a visual example, much like a teacher
I always imagined Korone's interaction with outside JP fans is similar to how a lot of pidgin languages formed.

Pretty much, if you picture large numbers of people on both sides putting in the effort Korone does over a longer period of time.

It's really just a certain part of the vtuber world that's on fire, Holo is generally unaffected.

Korone actually spurred me into actively learning Japanese some months ago (part self-taught, now on a proper language course). I'm still only getting into sentence structure, but I couldn't possibly put in words how rewarding it is.

Honestly if you watch Korone enough, you just sort of end up being able to understand her no matter what language (or lack of) she's speaking. My Japanese is awful, but yet I still feel like I can get a good grasp on what she's saying/feeling at times. Her model being so expressive really helps with that as well.
Also, after so long... Japanese Study Time... we are SO back.

Korone was my gateway into the Vtubing world, but it was also the RE4 playthrough she did awhile back. She's just... so pleasant, and funny- especially her laugh, or giggle she does, so I just started getting hooked watching her.

For some reason, despite the Mumei BGM being a relatively recent addition to her streams, I wondered if this clip was from ancient times, until she actually spoke. Only now have I realised just how much improvement her pronunciation has undergone since 2020. For somebody who considers herself to be unable to speak English, she does a damn good job at it.
Wouldn't be the first time Korone's skills surpass her self judgement.
Even though I haven't been taught japanese, I understand her more than others because of her accent. Her inflections put emphasis on almost every... I guess kana? The syllables.
Its cause effort is more important than prowess when trying to convey something.

You know. Because of my work, I sometimes have to talk (I'm not a native English speaker) with people who don't know much of my language and often don't know much English either. And I dare say that HoloJP has helped me get used to it and maybe even made me better at it.

Honestly another English-only stream from Korone would be a slam dunk. The original SMB one was a blast already and she's only gotten better since then. And if she lacks vocabulary, chat is eager to provide.

This is one of the reasons the English language is so fantastic. Yes, its grammar, spelling, and finer nuances are an absolute fustercluck... but none of that is necessary to be understood. You can speak extremely rudimentary English and hold an entirely comprehensible conversation.
