As a retired chef I have never seen such a clean restaurant . Even the hot buffet water to keep the food hot is crystal clear!! I have been there many times and have never left disappointed .
“The healthy salad is potato” and “I need some veggies to be healthy” then adding deep fried tempura broccoli made me lol. I enjoyed this video though - just getting hyped for my first Mandarin visit in years.
It's good to see that the Mandarin Buffet survived the controlled demolition of small businesses during the pandemic. It has been years since I was at one, but they were always a major cut above the typical buffet in the city. As of November 2022, the regular dinner price Monday to Friday is $35.99 which is a good deal for that variety and quantity of food. By comparison the price pre-covid in 2019 (according to TripAdvisor) was $29.99. So, in other words in the three years the price has increased about 20% or 6.6% a year which is a VERY LOW increase in price when you consider that prices at our major supermarkets have increased on many items well over 100%! In other words, restaurants like they Mandarin provide PROOF POSITIVE that the major grocery chains in Canada (Loblaws, Metro, Sobey's) used Covid to RIP-OFF Canadians by massively jacking up their prices when their major competition - restaurants like the Mandarin - were completely shut-down so as to "prevent the spread of covid". The variety of food at the Mandarin is mindboggling. Too be honest I would have taken more than one run at the carving station for a juicy thick slice of prime rib with 2 or 3 Yorkshire puddings on the side smothered in gravy! I also would have loaded up on the chicken balls smothered in the sweet and sour sauce as well as the BBQ spareribs and fried chicken! Good choice to avoid the bread station that just fills you up! I was always surprised that the Mandarin didn't offer free refills on soft drinks since those gaseous drinks fill up belly and put a damper on appetite. If you are a senior citizen, you can get 20% off any time with valid photo ID (does Loblaws or Metro give you 20% off if you are 65 or older?).
Whaaa..two videos within a week 😄 congrats on the sponsorship Tim ! I have to admit this is one impressive buffet especially for only $35 CAD...those sashimi 🤤 #TimLeeVessin

Hi Tom and Mike, it was a great visit and you have an amazing city. I was originally trying to go to the public market on Sunday (the one I saw on your video...) Who knew that at public Market would close on Sunday, and glad to have been able to come to the Mandarin buffet.
Nice to see you are searching the country for buffets. My Chef nephew just went back to Toronto after his month stay visiting his mom here in Vancouver. I haven't had a an adult coffee in ages. #TimLeeVessi

Thank you James and Kim, I never realized there was so many restaurants, especially buffets, in Toronto 😋. Thank you so much again and hope you both are keeping well 🙂
Growing up in Toronto I would go to Mandarin with family and friends a few times each year. That's about 40+ visits over the years. As I got older and started travelling I realized Mandarins buffet is average at best. It does not compare with most buffets in the US, especially in Vegas. I haven't been to a Mandarin in over 7 years. From what I hear it's still mediocre so I'm really not missing anything.
Same feeling I get about Mandarin. There were many good buffets when I was in Vegas. The best buffets in the world are found in South Korea and Singapore. Lots of meat and seafood choices and unusual desserts.
My uncle actually spoke with a manager at the Mandarin about 5-6 years ago. The manager said the Mandarin was actually hardly making money because of 1 thing; the awesome crab legs (which is why the Mandarin was worth it). So apparently there was a huge budget cut that happened which took the crab legs and lowered the quality of some of the other items. All in trade of making the price of entry like 3-5 dollars cheaper. Mandarin is a shell of its former self, not worth it anymore
I have been there twice to eat the buffet. Everything all are the best, and the foods are too delicious. I will be there one day, if I have a chance to go back Toronto.
Tim Here in Brazil, the diners are only allowed to touch the tongs or serving cutlery when they put on disposable thin plastic gloves and the servers MUST wear the gloves at all times. It does no good use the tongs if gloves are not worn by all. I noticed that you had the gloves on in all the scenes where I could see your hands. Good video. Thanks On a cuter side, I once saw a buffet that had a sign at the beginning of the buffet line that said” Due to the compulsive habit of girls and women that keep rolling their poney tails and hair constantly, we do not assume any responsability for hairs found in the food, because all of our employees wear hair nets. Just once correction though. When you put the jus on the prime rib, you said au jus. Au jus means a protein at the jus style or for example prime rib AU JUS when the jus is added to the protein. The jus by itself is just JUS. Bonjour du Brésil!
Wow! I totally didn't know about this place when I was in Toronto last month! Thank you for spotlighting it. Everything looks so good. Got to go there when I visit TO again. #TimLeeVessi
Love your videos. I’m here licking my screen. Couple words. You missed the Surimi salad. I dream of that! I would eat it all day long! Also the torpedo shrimp. So delish! Your voice is so soothing! Kind of like a Mr Rogers voice!
Hey Tim! Was on the fence about Vessi shoes but after seeing a friend's pair I had to pull the trigger! Thank you for the promo code I can't wait for them to arrive. Especially with all this Vancouver rain lately! Also want to say love your videos I have seen them all keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for reaching out Graeme! And thank you for your kind comment. It's been pouring rain lately and the Vessi's were much needed. Hope you enjoy them and all the best to you!
Hi Tim, glad you enjoyed eating at the Mandarin. My family and I go there about twice a year. I don’t understand how you stay so thin. Please tell me your secret. Cheers from Toronto.
I saw the tag line on your video and I thought that we had a Mandarin in Vancouver!!! Soooo disappointed. I miss Mandarin after living in Ontario for 27 years. I hope you enjoyed it.
Couldn't help but smile when you were overzealous in waterproof testing your runners through puddles and got your pants wet. It reminds of the fun we had in our childhood. Lots of yummy buffet food especially the variety of desserts. Had to get a snack while watching the video. Noticed you were wearing plastic gloves when handling the food. Is it a new requirement? May I ask if vaccine passport is required in order to dine in at the buffet? Thanks for sharing.
Hi Stay True, yeah.. the jeans got a bit wet in the end 😆.. in Toronto, Ontario there was no requirements for a vaccination passport there. I believe the premier of province of Ontario isn't in favor of the passport as he feels and may cause a rift between the population... But I could be wrong. The restaurant have safety guidelines, so yes, we had masks and plastic gloves on every time we go to the buffet. I think I went through 10 pairs of gloves during that evening 😮😉
Hi! I really enjoyed your video, just wanted to suggest 'Wok Of Fame Restaurant/Buffet'. It's amazing, really good and I think it may be a little bit better then Mandarin (it's just my personal opinion )
Omg so Amazing of you to give away a pair of Vessi's. I live in NIAGARA FALLS NY and most buffets are closed down due to Corona. The food looks great 👍 #TimLeeVessi

LoL. Just having fun and really surprised Vessi reached out. No sponsorship needed and much appreciated; the support/encouragement is more than enough 😃
Yay Tim! Nice kicks! I'm really glad you had some sushi this time. I'm relatively new to your channel, so I've been watching a lot of your greatest hits, and every time you see sushi and say, "We'll skip that", I say, "No, will we NOT!" Haha!
LoL. Thanks Val. The sushi is very nice...its always a challenge to make sure one has enough room... (Hmmm, what fortunate problems to have😌). Thank you again 🙂
Delighted and enjoyable, your video as always, thanks so much and I've enjoyed it. How much did the buffet cost, on the high end or on the fair midrange?
Thanks Patrick! The buffet was about $35, but that was on a weekend dinner where they have prime rib and other items. A very nice cafe and the service was amazing. It's more on the comfort food style so midrange... Very different from the extravagant Vegas style buffets, but very good comforting selections and great service 😃
Waterproof sneakers?? I need those...we get rain and lots of puddles here too. Is Vessi sold only online? Will need to check this. I hate getting my socks wet!
Thanks for reaching out Susan! Yeah, it rains a lot in Vancouver where I'm from. Very good sneakers and one wouldn't think they would the waterproof because of the knit material but they are completely waterproof surprisingly... 🙂 Actually, we're just in the middle of a rainfall warning😔

Great looking food, nice review. Thanks for taking us there. Take care.
Thank you Karen!
They are nice looking shoes and the Buffet looks delicious with plenty of variety and good quality. Such a good price also.
Yeah, noticing that the cost for food and restaurants are much better in Toronto than they are in Vancouver!
Ok. Lol
HEY TIM
Good luck with your food blog shows

Anglo- Chinese combo from a buffet. It can only be North America. Love it!
Wow! I totally didn't know about this place when I was in Toronto last month! Thank you for spotlighting it. Everything looks so good. Got to go there when I visit TO again. #TimLeeVessi
Hope you get a chance to enjoy the next time and I really also enjoyed Toronto...finding so many good places!
A sponser?! That's huge! Congrats Tim...Keep up the great work! Going to order a pair soon.
Thanks Tina! Really grateful for the Vessi team to reach out 😃. Don't really worry about the rain anymore 😃
Hi Tim, what is the drink called? I know it’s “coffee” but what’s the name on the menu
I believe that was an Irish coffee with a bit of whipped cream 😋
Watching this video at 2 am and now hungry! Thanks Tim for another great video 😀 #TimLeeVessi
Thank you for reaching out Louise! I hope you had a good night 😉
Glad you were able to start traveling and going to buffets Tim! Your buffet videos are always my favorite ones! Cheers! #TimLeeVessi
Thank you so much DS Louie! Feeling a bit normal again after getting a chance to visit these places 🙂. Very grateful to see all the activity there 😃
Doing the best that I can, thx for asking 🤗...and you're quite welcome...btw, I loved the interior of the Mandarin Buffet 😉
Hi Jade, I was quite taken a back with the interior. Very colorful and vibrant... I almost like a cartoon 😃
Glad to see Mandarin opening back up. I did not even know and I'm in Toronto! Love the shoes too! #TimLeeVessi
Thanks for reaching out Justin! First time there I'm very good experience 😋
Love your videos. I’m here licking my screen.
Couple words. You missed the Surimi salad. I dream of that! I would eat it all day long!
Also the torpedo shrimp. So delish!
Your voice is so soothing! Kind of like a Mr Rogers voice!
Thank you for the suggestion Tammy! I got to try that salad next time
Hope you enjoy them and all the best to you!
the food is fabulous canada is so beautiful ty for the tour
Thank you Claire!
Hi Tim, glad you enjoyed eating at the Mandarin. My family and I go there about twice a year. I don’t understand how you stay so thin. Please tell me your secret. Cheers from Toronto.
You are very kind Peter, a very happy and healthy New year to you and yours 🙂
This was so awesome! I've never been to Toronto, but I do have relatives there. I like those sneakers. The food looks so awesome. Cheers Tim! ✌️🇨🇦
Thanks Dwayne 🙂 very nice to be able to travel and visit places again (safely)🙂
I saw the tag line on your video and I thought that we had a Mandarin in Vancouver!!! Soooo disappointed. I miss Mandarin after living in Ontario for 27 years. I hope you enjoyed it.
Hi Lyna, I hope you get a chance to visit Ontario... I am surprised at how low the airfares were 😃
Can't wait for buffet to start opening in Vancouver again, enjoy Toronto! #TimLeeVessi
Hi Kevin, agreed. Looking forward to when the buffets open up in Vancouver 🙂
I'm so jealous its in Toronto. You're going to have to come back to Vancouver to show us which buffet is open here. #TimLeeVessi
Thank you for reaching out John! Certainly keeping my eye out for great buffets or restaurants in Vancouver 😋
I very like your channel and the food great job tim lee.
Thank you again Chester 🙂
Omg so Amazing of you to give away a pair of Vessi's. I live in NIAGARA FALLS NY and most buffets are closed down due to Corona. The food looks great 👍 #TimLeeVessi
Thanks Lori and good luck... Need to make a trip to Niagara falls also! Hopefully places will be opened up as time goes on.
Tim’s videos are the best!
Thank you for the very kind comment, Ray... Just having fun with these videos and grateful to be able to get to share these experience and interact with the people here! All the best!
Awesome to see you in Ontario again Tim. Been to Mandarin 100s of times. I hope your able to go to Pebbles (Amish) buffet in Durham
Hi Dave, thank you so much for the suggestion! Pebbles buffet... noted! 😃
Love to see you traveling and hitting up the buffet again! #TimLeeVessi
Thank for reaching out LilbearWS ... Feeling a bit normal again 🙂. Hope you're able to so travel safely also😃
Timmy boy I am getting hungry again. This time I will sponsor you. Air flight, flight jacket even shoes🙂
Nice to see you back at a buffet, it love buffets too. All that good food, but do you mind eating it all cold? I worry about you not enjoying it hot.
Hi Adrienne, good eye... With the camera, it actually takes a lot longer to grab the food... But still very tasty! 😋
Thank you for another great vlog , and it's great to see that you're traveling again.
#TimLeeVessi
Thank you so much Monique 🙂. Really nice to see things opening up safely... Hope you're doing well 🙂
Hi Tim! Welcome to Toronto and hope you will enjoy your stay in our city.
Oh you're in such a beautiful city. Really enjoying Toronto!😃
Have never checked out buffets in Toronto, thanks for your tour, Tim👍#TimLeeVessi
Hi Lorrie! I'm pretty surprised because there are so many buffets and restaurants in Toronto... Really enjoyed the place...🙂
@@TimLeeLetsGo thanks, that sounds awesome, definitely going to try it out when I'll be in Toronto. Thanks Tim.
