Carl's realism is clearly infectious! But seriously, the best bits of your videos (for me) are talking about the hard facts of car / engine repairs and maintenance. There are no cheap short-cuts. I've spent five figure amounts on engine rebuilds and still everything has gone sideways in a big way and taken literally years to get out the other side. If you can't stand the heat... Keep up the gritty content!
Hi. Can I request we have 'Carl's thoughts for a minute' every episode. A bit like Carl pilkingtons........would be great to know what's on his mind lol
He is a funny deadpan dude big up carl👍😂
Just don't ask about RS6's😂 huh.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Hahaha
My husband watches you religiously- is self employed as a fabricator alloy/ stainless etc for architecture and race cars here in New Zealand and explains to everyone the same things that you covered in the last video about being self employed- the benefits do make up for the stress of running a business- but sometimes only just!!
Really appreciate your honesty and humour coz sometimes if you can’t laugh you’d cry
Keep it up👍👍
Carl's a legend. Such as life straight to the point 👉
But at the end of the day, Ricky, you’re just being honest and they are your thoughts. Great channel. 👍
I appreciate that
Carl is looking well… best he’s looked… good to see 👏
On that smoking car,try leaving the oil cap off for the 2 days and see if it smokes, the inside of the engine maybe pulling a vacuum and pulling the oil back up especially if oil sits in the returns
THIRTY..... looking good MARA, many happy returns of the day. Smashing vid as well thank you.
"Looks massive in my hands, looks tiny in yours".... That's what she said!!
Hi Ricky and team. Brilliant videos, really informative, great laugh. Makes me realise that for all the worries we Porsche owners have about M97 engines with bore score etc going bang that rebuild prices of £10K really isn’t that bad compared with all the issues and costs for Audi, BMW and the like with their own engine issues. By the way, the little video at the end withe the cats was great and very random - brilliant 😂.
Excellent video. Especially the Q&A at the end.
Brilliant video as always and as usual it shows what most people never see...and... We need ,"Carl's Corner" every week...to shed some ,"realism" into everyone's lives..😁
Integrity. And craic. REPerformance. Great stuff!
Thank you
I still find gravel from Donington everytime i work on my car. Gets everywhere on VAG platform.
Absolutely love this channel watch it every week. Keep up the good work
Thanks Ricky for answering my question about a B5 RS6 engine rebuild, my wife was well up for the car until she watched your response, the last time I saw the colour drain from her face was when she noticed that engagement ring was missing ! Silly moo had left it at the jewellers for cleaning, not 10 before lol.
Still mad for a quick audi avant, i have seen a nice 3.0ltr diesel Quattro avant, what's your thoughts?
Regards Graham
One of the funniest intros I've seen in ages .....you guys should have a race on those 🤣, enjoying these videos , knowledge is incredible 👍😜
Agree with you on those 'experience' cars - a mate did one of those supercar experience days and most of them had management lights on and were generally clapped out!.
Good luck with the smokey RS6 - proper nightmare.
Great channel and technical content.
Cheers for the mention Rick, the V12 TDi has a T56 Magnum hanging off it. You can get aftermarket controllers for the 8hp and DSGs that work standalone. Unless you have silly power dont bother with a DQ500.
Thanks mate, I couldn’t remember what it was!
Candid honesty, fantastic
Thank you
Hi Ricky. Thank you for answering another one of my questions. Could I please be cheeky and ask for 2 questions to be answered for next week:
1. During your v8 buyers guide, you mentioned that the lower wishbones are now discontinued and that in order to get around this problem, you have to purchase majority of the V10 suspension conponents and convert them. How can you tell if this has been done if there is no evidence of receipts/invoices?
2. Should you get a engine compression test done at a PPI? During Matt Armstrong's V8 video, his car produced good power but his engine was a right off when you compression tested it.
P.S. my name is Waqar and I am a big fan of everyone at Re performance. You will hearing from me very soon when I book in a PPI through yourselves for a v8 manual that I want to purchase.
Currently, the car purchase is not at the top of the priority list due to currently going through a house purchase (first world problems).
Excellent episode again mate I always find myself watching the entirety of every video- that's how good the content is. FYI the AAN is now the fastest awd Audi running 6.92 at 314 km/h with stock block/heads.
Hi Kate. Cheers for the video guys, always a great one.
Porsche had that issue with 911 twin turbo as oil tank is higher than turbo's, they fitted a 3 psi check valve into both oil supply lines-sorted
Would love to see you at Oulton in bsb next year mate get in there fella. Love the vids smashing it ✌️
Excellent advice in the Q&A as always. Honesty rules, great upload.
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching.
Hi Ricky and Kate and the team my question is do you get benefit from us staying and watching the ads that pop up or do you lose out if we skip through them just thinking when you say about having people subscribing I subscribed for a long time now love the channel, the questions are really good not that I’ve ever asked #1 And as with a lot of people, I look forward to all your casts every Tuesday and Friday. Keep up the good work and it’s about time you had a doughnut Tuesday and Friday. Cheers
In all honesty I don’t know if it looks at viewed ads etc or whether you skip them.
It does measure how much of the video people watch because we are given a retention value.
45% of returning viewers are subscribers!
@@REPerformanceUK did know if it increased your revenue from UA-cam? Still fantastic channel, when you do Combe you should open it up to meet and greet, a chance for Kate to sell some Merchandise !!
It's tough truths Tuesday. Many happies Mitch.
He bought himself some mouldy muffins for his birthday! Lol
Great video really enjoyed it 👍 ps your corner entry on the mobility scooter was naff 😂
QUESTION: Ricky, what do you do during a typical day when you are not making these entertaining videos? Thanks 👍 (Great content BTW)
Cracking video as always - great insights and banter
Ricky how you finding the new snap-on brushless tools?
Maybe a do a tool box tour and workshop equipment video?
Hi Ricky, is it possible the problem with the un fixable RS6 could be clogged up cats?? 3 sets of turbos sounds like clogged cats. When it sits for the two days, any carbon or oil is solidifying in the cats. Thinking the smoking on start up, is the temp coming up rather quickly at the turbo outlet side and it starting to burn off the oil. I have seen and heard of this happening before, also does cause oil to back up due to pressure build up, hence doing in the turbos. Just a thought mate.
You should not have oil in your cats and if they was blocked performance would be affected. Blocked cats will not cause turbo to fail either really I very much doubt you know what your talking about
Try changing the oil filter maybe the one way valve is faulty. Cheap worth a try.. Tim
A page full of Honesty
Thank you for watching.
You put me of buying a used R8 , they always seem to be having problems, not a criticism
No but we are only ever going to see broken ones! They are very good cars
Listening to you answer the questions😢 true hurts. When you add up the cost. Great advice on make sure you get the right people to check out the vehicles and top companies like yours. To fix them or tell you how bad it is. Hope the oil pump fits the smoke problem, or if not, will the engine be coming out and a strip down video on it? 😢😢
Yet another brilliant vlog , the questions part was very interesting 😎
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
That R8 @ 25.14 looks familiar. 😁
Really interesting to listen to! Well done chaps, keep doing what you’re doing.
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching
Another brill video, thanks guys :)
Glad you enjoyed it
Probably unlikely, BUT... could the smokey RS6 be caused by blow-by? When the engine warms and on warmer days, there's enough expansion in the pistons to seal everything up... but when cold or on cooler days oil is blowing by into the combustion chamber? Again, highly unlikely but certainly a possibility. I guess you could quickly rule this out by somehow mearusing crankcase pressures when cold and warm (?).
Hahahaha Love the boxing cat :D
You touched on the S8 V10 engines. What are the internal differences? offset rod journals vs non-offset... firing order? Intake/Exhaust runners giving lower torque? I've seen a couple of guys running Lambo intakes on S8 engines and one person running Lambo headers on his S8 engine. What's good? What's bad and will you tune mine pretty please???
Very enjoyable as always 👍
Question. Have you ever done any upgrades on an Audi S1 (2014-2018 model)?
Question - Hi Ricky and Kate, what is your family's perfect two car garage and why? Only rule is that you both agree. Love the channel. Ta very much like.
A begging plea with swallowed pride

Is all part of this UA-cam game.
We love the updates, Tuesday brings
(Though filmed on Monday - one of those things!)
We meet the Team - they all have class.
Jordan, who cleans your car for cash!
A birthday boy whose life is rich.
Hey Happy Birthday smiling Mitch.
Up next is Matt to do his bit.
He tinkers with hydraulic kit.
And then our Karl - the happy soul,
To fix the RS6 is his goal.
And out of shot - of course Dav-La!
Who pans and zooms from car to car.
And finally - oh this one’s tricky!
What can I say - about you Ricky?
Mechanically- a real straight shooter.
Appearing with - disabled scooter!
Fast forward to an engine room
He answers questions - clever loon!
So that’s the Team - this channels great.
Although it’s better to see Kate!
Keep filming content - make it mint.
The parts price quoted - I’d be skint.
Just keep it real - don’t be a Diva
I’m off to fix my Vauxhall Viva. 😮
Happy birthday Mitch
Is the smoky RS6 not due to oil coming out of the OCV valves pumping oil into the intakes?
The Skoda superb in the car park looks as awesome as the super cars, who’s is it and what’s being done to it?
Interesting questions Ricky
Do you think the parts prices on Audi’s are bit ott, bits like pumps etc seem outrageous compared to say Porsche bits?
Certainly the main thing that puts me off
great content as always, much love too all your team Ricky.Keep them coming
Thanks so much for watching.
7:36 that crystal knob is a £600 option...
I know all about trying to get parts for an older car. I have a 17 reg Q3 and the control box has stopped working. So no radio or navigation sound. It’s been on back order with Audi for 18 months. I don’t expect to ever get it.
Loved the misery questions. Very realistic 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
The smokin R6 could benefit by changing to castrol engine oil, (solves problems with smoking japanese "Piledrivers")...greetings from across the moat.
That was a page full of realism😂, loved it Rik. People really need to know the reality of some of these cars.... you tell em... fair play. I like how you ask... If anyone knows whats wrong with car smoking it's nuts off...please let me know😂😂😂 if you don't know, what chance the muggle mechanic?😂😂😂😂 I have answer btw. Run it everyday... fixed👍
Hi.
How did you learn your trade and how do you keep your knowledge up to date with all these hi tech vehicles being an independent garage not main dealer.? Keep up with the great videos 😊
Question - Ricky any plans to sell some lovely winter bobble hats ??
great content
Hi thanks for your input I was thinking of putting rs4 b7 engine in too vw amarok thinking i be able to cheat bi keeping original vw gearbox and 4 wheel drive love the sound of rs4 thanks again all the best Geoff 👍 ❤
Hello Kate, Ricky.
Really enjoying the content you put out.
My question is can you change nearside gearbox half shaft bearings on R8 v8 man gen 1 without removing gearbox.
Also could carbon build up on same car cause MOT emissions fail or is it likely to be sumat else...40kmiles.
Lovely stuff,,any thoughts on the one-way system in Norwich if you been ..😅
Posted this question before and didn't hear it come up (and may be a happier topic) - what would you do to a MK7 Golf GTi to improve it, and in what order? I have owned mine from new, so know the history, and it is relatively low mileage for a 2014 car. No interest in selling it for anything on the market, so looking a breathing some life into it...
I think if you saw my gallardo you'd be so shocked haha, they are all treated so badly I don't understand lol I know they have a lot of faults but genuinely the warping on the leather on some of these cars and the honeycomb grills are always broken lol. Mines perfect all round
Hi Ricky, love the content, as you like V10's and bikes, would you ever ride Alan Millyard's Viper engined bike ? 🤔
I will ride anything! The more stupid it is the better!! 😂
Pcv system (think there’s two valves on the rs6)…………or the intake system drawing oil in via the vacuum lines?
I'm guessing u send your machining work out, do u have any plans to do any in house?
Question for you, do you have much experience with older Porsche models? I have a 2010 997.2 PDK, I’ve looked at lots of options for intakes / exhaust but the price vs hp gain on exhausts makes it not worth it. 1/4 price of the car for a full system and maybe 7-8bhp.. and air intake seems to be pretty much as good as it gets from factory… Is there any non bank breaking upgrades you could suggest? Not just power wise, but any decent upgrade?
Or just leave it and enjoy as it is.. latest upgrade was online road and track DFV suspension which is awesome.
How does the PCV system work on these? Can that be a consideration?
subbed just to see superbike build....
Question. Without forced induction if you were to lighten and uprate the na v10s rotating mass and valve train. What would the theoretical max rpm be and power output? Especially what's the limit for a screaming high rpm v10 rather than the twin turbo route?
I wonder if it has the same problem as the bmw n20. The turbine carbon seals intermittently leak oil into the turbine housing after engine shutdown. The fix for this was a check in the oil feed line to stop oil filling up the bearing cartridge when off.
Do the turbos need an oil restricter to prevent excess pressure pushing past the turbo oil seals
Is the rs6 a turbo conversion? Why dont You rework the crank vent system then?
Happy birthday mitch
Oh the joys of supercars eh ? I can still get all parts for my 92 Sierra btw 😉😉
Which type of catch can this rs6 has? Their was a type with no breathing hose. Maybe the catch can can't breathe...
what OBD scanner do you need for a pre LP like a 04 gallardo?? love the videos
We use Texa on ours or Lara. Finding a good one on the early cars is hard tbh!
@@REPerformanceUK thank you mate 😁
'Ill fix it, even if it costs me money' If I had a RS6 I'd bring it to you. However I don't, and as as much as I like eating beans out of a tin, I don't like it that much to want the bill of an RS6 intermittent fault.
You can get ZF HP8 controllers to retro fit in other car… Turbolamic 👍
Sweet not seen those!
Valve stem oil seals
30 collapsed oil system pipe may be
That mobility cart needs a twin turbo conversion 🤣
Hahaha
do theses things have an egr valve
I think a full engine rebuild will sort out the issue with the smoke
Hahahahaha no thanks! 😂😂
huffty muffty valve mate 👍....that will fix it
Some Granny over Penhill looking for her scooter!!
😂😂
Never seen you so flat Ricky! Winter blues? 🥹
Pcv is the only one
Mitch must be at least 46 😂
😂😂
The other thing to consider is the S8s are more expensive to insure as they are aluminium and that costs more to repair. Ask me how I know how 😂
Are you always in debt to the Snap-on man
Yes!! 😂😂
heres a comment to help you... in the algorithm
Do comments help? Hiya Kate 👋
All interaction helps mate! Thank you! 🙌🏼
👍
Begging 😂😂😂😂😂
Thought I was watching Benidorm 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Yeah they are a c_nt to work on the engine is half plastic!
Cost's of these cars r insane keep my honda 😂🤣😂🤣 shit hot work an channel tho boys subbed 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍
Could you run a V10 on a set of five double choke Weber downdraught carburettors?
I have thought about a V10 on ITB’s! 😂
Which oap did you steal this off🛵
My father in law!! Worked in my first electric vehicle lol
