Hi, thanks for posting this invaluable video! Can you specific what are some of the terms that should be included in an order agreement for the supplier ? Thank you :)
When I post a job on upwork, I’m asked to select if I want to pay by the hour or a flat rate for the job. The flat rate must be a dollar amount not a percentage? Also, do we only pay the percentage of the first order? Because it will most likely be a smaller trial order.
sean cosens I always go with $50 flat rate to invite people for the job. Then in the job description I clarify that I offer a 5% fee on top of the $50 to start the project. The 5% have to be paid every time you place a reorder. Which is no problem at all as the right agents gets you a 20% better price. So effective you still save 15% every time you order. Plus they can Akt as your insurance because reorders don’t always go without issue and your agent can smoothen things out that you couldn’t. People in the factory change and so does the quality at times. Keep paying your agent and they keep making sure you don’t hit bad surprises. Now when it comes to small test orders 5% may not be enough. For the agent there is a big difference to get 5% of $5K or $500.. Yet the efforts are the same. For small test offers I usually end up offering around $200 flat rate. They are also easier because at small orders your can customize products which makes it easier for the agent. Besides all money things .. costs and savings .. to me the biggest benefit is the time saving. I need 10-40 hours to get samples I like. With the right agent I need 1h of my own time. Even if I wouldn’t save product costs I’d still use them
What about faulty products client buys and returns to amazon. What would you put in contract as agent does not check every product I would assume and I don’t want to be out of pocket but need to be compensated for faulty product. How does this wk and what should be put in agreement please
it's not the agents' responsibility to check your products at the factory. But the agent can help you to hire a third party inspection service like asia inspection. Then you come to an agreement with the service to either do a 100% control where they check each of your items or do a partial control where they check between 10 & 20 % of the order. when you place the order with the supplier you can agree on a maximum fault rate. If the faults are above the rate, the supplier has to compensate you (reproduce, fix or pay you a fee) That then covers your return expenses. That said, there is always a % of people returning products for all kinds of reasons. Some items break during domestic delivery or they simply don't like it. (ever returned a Christmas gift you didn't want?) I account for this when calculating my profit margins and expect a pessimistic 5% return rate,. Then I increase my sales price by 5% and am good.
I put all agents that I personally worked with in the past into a platform that comes as free add on to the Easy Peasy Sourcing Online Coaching Program. You can access that program to the web class you find in the video description. Alternatively, get the supplier extraction training ($27). In that I teach you step by step how to find an agent on upwork. My team can source for you as well. That would be a done-for-you service and you can call me for more infos ok that: calendly.com/easypeasysourcing/free-info-call Or, check out the UA-cam videos about finding agents and you should be able to find one that you can work with :)
lukhe 92 over time I’ve worked with around one hundred agents. But the ones I am putting my faith into and working with on regular bases are 10 agents.

I’ll record a video for you about this and post it during the week :)
If agents use 1688 and Alibaba to find suppliers, would you say they have enough experience and are reliable?
