Why would your sourcing agent try to get the best price for you if they get a percentage? Wouldn’t it be in your sourcing agents personal best interests to not get you the best price so they make more money?
There are two ways to pay sourcing agents: 1. Percentage 2. Hourly Rate Sometimes 1 is better, sometimes 2, depending on multiple reasons. Sometimes an agent is not to way to go at all and its best to communicate directly with the Factory. There are many nuances for sure. The fact you raised that doubt/question means you're thinking critically about it all, that's good news for you 😁
It's like working with a real estate agent. It's in their best interests to close the deal as opposed to drive up the price. The incremental revenue is not worth the risk of losing the transaction
Youre right. Anyone saying different is lying to you. It does save you in the long run usually. Good luck finding a manufacturer ( a true manufacturer) and communicating with them in chinese. They also dont give a f about your low orders . So you need someone who has some relationship with the factories or a share. Some sourching agents will also help you with packaging and sending the goods to your country. Manufactures dont care about that

thanks for this valuable sharing
Doesn't the sourcing agent have a conflict of interest if they're getting paid based off how much you pay the manufacturer?
As a purchasing agent, I will find the most suitable products in the customer's ideal price range.
Nice one
What do you think about getting ar15 style butt stocks manufactured according to my blue prints?

Do you think language barriers and cultural differences might make things difficult working with a China sourcing agent in general?
Purchasing agents today have almost no language barriers.

Product sampling shouldn’t take more than a week. I ordered a sample of fire alarm on Alibaba, and it was at my door on 5th day.
