+mariokarter13 Idk. Considering Blah Blah Blah made #2 on my "Worst of 2010" list (right behind Deuces), I wouldn't say there's that much of a gap with their worst. Kesha's definitely a lot better at her best, though.
mariokarter13 Idk. One of the worst club beats ever and super annoying vocals and lyrics vs the whitest, most cringeworthy attempt to invoke Marvin Gaye ever? Both are terrible, but I guess Marvin Gaye is slightly worse.
+Thomas J Hastie That's actually the perfect comparison. He's gotta do more videos like this: exposing, analyzing, & bringing awareness to corruption in the world of pop music. I love the genre but it's so easily exploited.
Hi there I come from the future and I would like to say that one of the biggest songs in the country has Nicki on it and it's produced by Dr luke no im not happy about this ethier
Jason Genovese don’t worry she wrote her own verse and was only on a remix that was very highly anticipated Bc everyone wanted to see her with doja cat, this is probably one of the few or last time she’ll work with him
I remember Todd addressed something about Ke$ha being called out for being too fat or something behind the scenes from his All About That Bass review. Jesus Christ, I never thought it was this bad!
Did you hear that Zedd had brought her out at Coachella to sing True Colors. Zedd also said that he would produce for Kesha, and so would Jack Antonoff
Absolutely loved this special comment, I think it was essencial and very informative. Thank you for making this, it even got me emotional, especially the part where you give Kesha a message! Wonder how your meeting with her was, since you loved her album and you are a fan of hers. Anyway, great job Mark, keep it up, would love for Kesha to see this (and Sony too so they can open their eyes!)
This was perfect! I completely agree with how you think she should tackle the problem. I think after she has more success Sony will loosen the reigns a lot. This situation is just a nightmare still and l hurt for her. Thank you for this video Mark!
I loved kesha since her first album, and it sucks that she is going through this, I know she will pull through, I know I'm missing some kesha In my life, and I wish he'd the best with this situation. #FreeKesha!!!!!
Anyone that works with Dr Luke from now on will not sell well and will be hated. There's millions of people that support Kesha in this instance. I hope everyone stays clear of him and I hope he goes away.
Updates all this time later, Sony dropped Dr Luke and is no longer affiliated with Kemosabe or Sony and Kesha has a new album coming out with a new album titled "Rainbow" coming out August 11 and will be mainly produced by Ryan Lewis
Come On is also a lot of fun, who knew there were issues behind the scenes that stopped her releasing music around 2014? Her last hit to date was Crazy Kids in 2013.
Damn, this is such a refreshing take on the #freekesha issue. Instead of claiming #kesha is jumping on the feminism bandwagon, you choose a more professional perspective and I highly respect your detailed analysis!
You're ignoring the fact that when Mark said "not promoting," he didn't mean not promoting--he meant not releasing. Sony would not put the money forward they would need to in order for her to release an album-she would get shelved like every other Kemosabe artist, because they aren't going to invest anything in an artist that has tarnished their name. The same thing happened between Sony and Michael Jackson. They've said that she could work with other producers, but that's not entirely the case--she still would be signed to his label, he would still be profiting off of her.
The worst thing about this is that this whole event is being used by people to push some kind of narative, whether it's "the media protects abusers" or on the otherside it's "women usually lie about rape" or whatever stupid other narative people want to push. I'm a Kesha fan, so I feel more inclined to side with her, but it is important to think about this logically. I'm not going to start protesting and throw out every sony product that I have...that's just stupid.
Cases like this are messy. Sad thing is, Kesha is not the only person that has made those accusations against Dr. Luke. Numerous women have made the same accusations against him (before Kesha's case and possibly during and after Kesha's case as well) and somehow Sony hasn't fired him yet.
#freeKesha I miss her so much. I adored her old stuff. Luke actually denies having raped her. I wonder if he's shameless or just things are really complicated. Maybe soon it'll be better.
'Innocent until proven guilty' Fucking thank you for mentioning that as so many people seem to forget that in this modern age. Luke, for all intents and purposes, is quite possibly a shitty person, but he is innocent until proven guilty and he should be treated as such.
+Grey Descendant of Rats Innocent until proven guilty is an instruction given to juries. If women in the music industry think Luke is a rapist they have every right not to work with him. In fact innocent until proven guilty can be dangerous in that sense. I would hope no one will sign to Luke's record label with these allegations floating around. It would be foolish for artists to ignore them just because Luke hasn't been found guilty and sign to his record label. He absolutely should not be treated as innocent by people he has the potential to harm.
One way to kick-start Keshas career after all of this is over, have her collab with Grimes and Jack Antonoff. The indie sphere will lose its collective mind.
Imo: Stop joining contracts stupidly long contrasts (eight albums? Really?). Seriously, that's so stupid that people have to do that to get on big records. Sympathies to Kesha for joining into that, whether or not the sexual allegations are true.
Yes! Great comment! If I was a artist and was signing a contract, I would not accept anything else that 3 albums at a time. If I wanted to resign after that, then so be it!
+Joseph Prasad Also given the fact that other artists have explained their own personal described "nightmares" working with him and refuse to ever work with him again. It's a bit of an eye opener to be honest
+ProsecutorGodot Which all goes to the record label and the (accused) producer, and in no way helps Ke$ha, if anything, that's the worst thing you can do right now.
Can't say I believe her about the rape allegations, especially when she denied working with a different producer and other things popping up, but I can see the hell of going through the legal bullshit for years and your money's going down the drain, losing popularity and you'd rather not suffer through fucking 8 more albums. I really hope she didn't make up the rape thing just to get out of her contract though, that's something horrible to do no matter what. For now, I just don't know enough to really say. Best of luck to both of them, I guess. Funny thing to note: Kelly Clarkson is supporting Kesha and she's known Luke for a while now. Just something I'd thought would be fun to mention.
Kelly Clarkson's Hit "Since U Been Gone"(which he produced) is the reason why Dr.Luke became one of the most biggest sought after producers along with Max Martin,Shellback and Benny Blanco.
+Robbie Starburster Too many people are confused by the other producer offer made by Sony. Even with that offer Kesha would have been part of Luke's label and under his domination and control. She's said she'll finish out her contract with Sony as long as she's no longer under Luke's label. It would be very foolish of her to accept an offer that keeps her under Luke's control She wants out of the contract because of the abuse. She made these rape allegations in 2005 and tried to escape from Luke back then. It's clear something bad happened when she wanted out just a few months after signing with him.
Is it just me, or can this 17 minute video literally be condensed down to "even if Dr. Lukewarm is innocent, he should confess anyway. After all, it's better for a man to die than for a woman to be doubted." Whether she lied then or lied now, Kesha's guilty of perjury. We've taught women that there are no repercussions to lying, especially I'm court. Attitudes like yours are the reason that sociopaths exist. If Dr. Like is innocent, he should fight, to his last breath, because it's the only chance he'll ever have of having a clear name.
You are so wrong, except for the last one. First, what he's talking about was, Dr. Luke is innocent until proven guilty, but why does he ( and the record label ) still keeping ties with Kesha, after being putting on blast for years?
Kesha is a better artist than she gets credit for. Give me Kesha's worst over Meghan Trainor's best any day.
agreed! Meghan trainer can do damage to society meanwhile kesha is harmless.
+mariokarter13 Idk. Considering Blah Blah Blah made #2 on my "Worst of 2010" list (right behind Deuces), I wouldn't say there's that much of a gap with their worst. Kesha's definitely a lot better at her best, though.
+Zachary Jones but atleast Kesha gives good beat, I don't really feel like dancing listening to a poppy Meghan's song.
***** Blah Blah Blah vs. Marvin Gaye.
mariokarter13 Idk. One of the worst club beats ever and super annoying vocals and lyrics vs the whitest, most cringeworthy attempt to invoke Marvin Gaye ever? Both are terrible, but I guess Marvin Gaye is slightly worse.
Mark is like John Oliver for the pop music industry.
+Thomas J Hastie That's actually the perfect comparison. He's gotta do more videos like this: exposing, analyzing, & bringing awareness to corruption in the world of pop music. I love the genre but it's so easily exploited.
TJ Hastie Except not a condescending jackass.
Glad to see someone looking act this matter with a purely factual outlook. The amount of knee-jerk reactions I've seen are mind numbing.
+Vinnce12 And they're confusing. This brought the whole situation to a much clearer perspective.
Get Kesha to see thissss!!!!!
Nicki Minaj won't work with him anymore, she unfollowed him on Twitter
Hi there I come from the future and I would like to say that one of the biggest songs in the country has Nicki on it and it's produced by Dr luke no im not happy about this ethier
Jason Genovese don’t worry she wrote her own verse and was only on a remix that was very highly anticipated Bc everyone wanted to see her with doja cat, this is probably one of the few or last time she’ll work with him
I hope Kesha recovers from what happened to her and I hope Dr. Luke gets what he deserves.
I really hope Kesha sees this video and it goes viral....great video once again Mark.
Never truly understood the gravity of the situation 'til it was laid out before me. Great video!
#FreeKesha

Die Young is easily in my Top Five songs of the decade. She doesn't deserve this. No one does #FreeKesha
Come On is also a lot of fun, who knew there were issues behind the scenes that stopped her releasing music around 2014? Her last hit to date was Crazy Kids in 2013.
+Thomasmemoryscentral it's not even a hit. Thanks to the record label for put her to work with that robot.
Her last hit was timber in early 2014
Well, True Colours with Zedd did get on the charts, but only at 78.
I like your videos in how they look at things from factual perspective rather than just assuming guilt or innocence.
Never been a fan of Ke$ha, but I'm definitely hoping for the best for her during this tough time.
Damn, this is such a refreshing take on the #freekesha issue. Instead of claiming #kesha is jumping on the feminism bandwagon, you choose a more professional perspective and I highly respect your detailed analysis!
WE NEED TO SHARE THIS! MARK I ADORE YOU
Really great to see someone express their opinions on both aspects of the story. Great video and very informative!
One of Mark's best videos to this day!
Thanks to have made this video, I think that it's a sad story but it's important to speak up about it, even if the whole situation just sucks...
I love Ke$ha "Animal" song, if she makes other songs like this she'll be alright

I love how intelligent and well informed you are Mark. Love your channel.

Kesha needs to see this video. RIGHT. NOW.
Jesus.. Feel sorry for the girl.
Kesha, if you're watching this video (which you should), please leave a comment.
Thanks for making this video.
it honestly dissapinted me that demi threw dhade at taylor for just donating money and staying quiet on the issue cerbally
#freeKesha
I miss her so much. I adored her old stuff.
Luke actually denies having raped her. I wonder if he's shameless or just things are really complicated. Maybe soon it'll be better.
+Goddess Of Change Guilty people usually insist they're innocent. It would be dumb for him to admit to the rape when she's suing him for it.
Didn't know about the Dr. Luke label thing! Weird
I know you hate the group but I'm wondering if you can review YRN 2 by Migos
'Innocent until proven guilty'

Of course, if he IS innocent, it would really suck if that destroyed his entire life.
When did Kesha and Lady Gaga work together?
One way to kick-start Keshas career after all of this is over, have her collab with Grimes and Jack Antonoff. The indie sphere will lose its collective mind.

+cqmil in other words, he tricked her after realize her talent. BUT Kesha did wanna get out after that.
I saw Dr. Luke on the credits of Miranda Cosgrove's Sparks Fly album... yet she never worked with him again. I wonder why that is?
Ambs Jackson Yeah, and it looks like artists like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are refusing to work with him anymore. It can only go downhill for him now.
+Joseph Prasad Also given the fact that other artists have explained their own personal described "nightmares" working with him and refuse to ever work with him again. It's a bit of an eye opener to be honest
Ambs Jackson Yeah, it is. Glad he was finally revealed for what he was.
+Joseph Prasad Me too
rip
He does know that she's in a band called "Yeast Infection" now, right?

+Deonte Kelly Kelly Clarkson hates luke.
In a way, Since You've Been Gone could now be seen as a response to Luke if you look at it in that way.
+Robbie Starburster Too many people are confused by the other producer offer made by Sony. Even with that offer Kesha would have been part of Luke's label and under his domination and control.
