Thank you. This is the first video that adequately showed me how to remove the factory parts correctly.

Thanks, I would have never seen that retainer without this video. I was not able to nibble the retainer like you but I pried the spring around the retainer with a flathead screwdriver until eventually the spring and retainer popped off. I did not bother removing the shifter linkage. I replaced all front end rubber parts which fixed a ton of slop, then this tightened up the feel. Unfortunately a little slop remains and I believe it's the gearbox so that's next.

I deleted the rubber rag joint on mine and made a steel plate to replace it, this took at least 25% of the play out of my steering. I did a steering box brace which fixed probably 40% of the play. About to do this rock solid bushing and will see from there. A lot of people dont know there are 2 adjustments to make on the steering box not just 1, will try adjusting the box preload after all these upgrades before I fork out $300-400 for a new steering box. Good luck on yours!

@@wekeeptruckin All of the reading and videos talk about one adjustment. What is the other?

@@genespell4340 You should be able to find a free PDF Factory Service Manual for your truck or similar year. It details both the steering gear box adjustments in there. The common adjustment is called "over center" which is adjusted with the hex stud sticking out the top. The less known adjustment is called "worm thrust bearing preload" which is located at the end of the gearbox that attaches to the steering shaft facing the firewall. Adjusting mine didn't seem to make any difference but the FSM recommends doing it before doing the other. Hope you can figure it out from there!

My issue is behind the part you replaced. The gear shift collar wiggles around inside the housing that goes into the firewall. The shif lever rattles. How do I fix that?

Bob Guillemet placing bearing grease around The Inside of the Bushing. The Brake Booster was probably set aside during this installation. What else ?

yeah, pretty sure this bushing replaces the need for the spring and the original bushing.. so they dont go back on

@@InSaNeAssAss1n I would think you need grease on the outside of the bushing to help with the transmission shifting not on the inside of the bushing. The inside is a press fit around the shaft and does not move. I will be installing this kit soon.

@@commonsense2469 honestly I did the installation and still had the same problem. Had to place a belt cut to size to shove inside the remaining shaft piece to fix how sturdy it needed to be. Used hose clamps to secure it around tightened to likening. Make sure You have a air hammer makes the job a lot easier, also zip tie the steering wheel and avoid spinning the shaft.Ask any questions. It took the company less than about a week to ship
