Turkey is now more expensive than the rest of europe by a considerable margin. Visa and residency costs have doubled. You now need a costly agent to arrange this for you and the tax cost has more than doubled. Marina's, Hotels and property have suffered 200-300% cost increase due to the influx of Russian and Ukrainian refugees .

Interesting. We will likely be there this summer and will have to report back on costs.

If you travel by boat in the waters of all Med Schhengen countries every night you spend on board does not count as a Schengen day. In effect you can stay indefinately in the EU. This is under International Maritime Organisation's Convention on the Facilitation of Marine Traffic, 1965 rules.

Absolute rubbish! 90/180 applies to all non EU residents. Yachtsmen and women do not have any additional rights of residency or extended visas.

As the scenario around when I'd be able to consider all these options includes retirement and an age of at least 68, I think I would like to limit my shuffling. Albania and perhaps Montenegro plus Italy is of interest. Though all that is about 10 years away. Who knows what-all will and will not be allowed for US PP holders by then...

Gosh. If only there were other channel options...It's really sad that you have found yourself stuck here with no way to get out of the hellscape you've found yourself in. Oh, wait a sec. This is YT. "Channel" is their middle name!(It's there. You may have to whip out your pocket electron microscope.)
