Biohealth Science graduate here 🙋🏻
As you can see. For the other 7 bio-related courses under Fac of Science UM, during the 1st year, you need to learn all biology related courses not specific to your major. E.g Biology of Organisms, you learn taxonomy, from prion to mammals.
Only from 2nd year (3rd sem) you start learning your major subjects.
Plant-related subjects were offered because many of our lecturers specialised in medicinal plants.
By the way Biohealth & Bioinformatics are no longer offered. Gov scraps them off.
Heyyyy there, thanks so much for the updated information. Yas, I was talking to a bioinformatics lecturer few days ago and just found out their last batch of undergraduate students are leaving soon. Sad to hear since it was the higher ups decision to have the courses removed.
@@wisely_koay oh my! you're so proactive. Willing to approach a lecturer from a different faculty.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nicely done, Wisely! I think much of this info can be extrapolated to other universities around the world. While you're highlighting the differences, it's important to say that there's much overlap too, and especially later, when you search for a job, people with different diploma's from either of all these courses you compared, could compete for the same job. For example: if you get a Master's project in Biomed about genetics (or a genetic disease) and it involves sequencing, then you might have gained similar skills (or a portion of them) with those that did genetics/bioinformatics. Good use of the colors as well: there's actually color codes in biotech areas, like green for agriculture, blue for marine, etc. (I have a video on that). Basically with a biomed degree you can get into RED biotech (healthcare related, or biopharma).
And then one last thing: if you compare biomed courses around the world, there's even differences in those programs as well! (Have a video on that too!)
Good job helping younger people get informed to follow their passion! That's exactly why I started my own channel. Great to see others like you do the same!
PS: which martial art do you train in (trailer)? Kung-Fu I'm guessing?
Cheers!
Thanks Kevin, this is very informative! This could help others make more informed choices. 👍🏻
And yes I practice Wushu/Kungfu. 🙆🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️

well done! you did your research really well👍
Thanks for sharing!! Such a useful video!!
How about medic related fields like dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, etc...?
谢谢你用心制作的影片,thank you for making this video
不用客气啊😊😊
Hi I got a place in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics UM but I really wanna take Biomedical Science 😭 May I know how can I change my course?
I'm afraid it'll be quite tough since they are under different faculties. But you can try writing to the dean's office
Hi good afternoon..I get um microbiology and genetic & molecule ...just I want to know want jobs can get in future
I'm not from that course so I don't think I am qualified to give a comment on it. But, I'm quite sure career prospects revolve around lab work and research.
bruh since we are at the same course perhaps u can help me in my case study it is a tough question😭
Hi. Thank you for the summarised comparison sheet that you had specially made. May I have the link to access the sheet? Thank you very much in advance.
Here you go, I've added the link in the pinned comment. Kudos!
@@wisely_koay Thank you very much 😆👍🤗
Hi can I have that sheet please. Thank you 🙏
Hey bro, can i know the difference between pharmacy and biomedical? Like the courses and professions. Thanks ♥️
Hi Wisely. If I interested in clinical embryology, assisted reproductive technology, human fertility and andrology which course should you suggest to me?
Those are very specific courses 😄. I would still say biomed would be the best choice for you since all of the course you are interested in revolves around the human body. But I'd have to be honest that even in biomed sc, we might not learn such specific aspects of your interests.
Did UM offer foreign language elective ?
Yep, in fact I just finished taking both Korean and Japanese this semester. Kudos!
Is there any specific software used in biomedical science?
Not specifically as biomedical science is very broad. But a few of our courses such as molecular techniques or bioinformatics might use it. 😊
@@wisely_koay do you mind to give me some examples ?
Hello, can i ask whether biomedical science or biochemistry learns more about math? (cause i suck in math HAHAHAHA)
Which major should I choose if I'm interested with biology at microscopic scale like molecular biology or even structural biology :/
thank you so much for sharingg, but 😬can you makes a video about differences job prospect of these courses? especially biotechnology 😬🥺
hey are u taking biotech rn
@@nadhrahtarmizi not yet sis 😅😅,sy bru je plan nk smbung biotech 😅
@@MK-td9ks oh lepasan spm eh
saya pun plan nk sambung biotech jugak
@@nadhrahtarmizi hehe, tidak lah 😅, lepasan matrik,sy plan nk smbung degree Biotech ni 🙈
Thanks For The video..can you attach the sheet link please..a humble request
