Actually, slim people can choke bigger people by pressuring a vital points on the throat. Some martial arts like judo or jiu jitsu use it as a move against bigger opponents. And Sonya herself isn't that weak too.

The thing is Kano arguably has the best move set in "Ultimate MK3". Between his laser eye, Kanoball, slash, headbutt combos, throttle and air stomp he is fun to watch. The guy should be a threat.

The problem was he often sided with the bad guys, avoiding facing true challenges. Not to mention, he did not allow himself to train and gain experience. That is why Sonya always washes him. He refuses to actually take his fighting skills seriously. Decent fighter though.
He is tough thug, but nothnig special. Most of his feats are mediocre in comparsion. Killing a noname buddy of Sonya Blade? Not impressive. Jax has disfigured his face badly. Sonya killed him. Johnny Cage defeated him. Kabal wrecked him. Kotal Kahn (who was turned into a jobber too) defeated him even after Kano surprisingly attacked him.
Kano's a solid military leader in lore, he lead Kahn's army to a win over Kitana's Edenian-Shokan army lead by Goro. Solid assist to Noob-Saibot on Goro with the sneak attack.

Because before her village of Sun Do was taken over by the forces of the Deadly Alliance, Li Mei was still a novice fighter who needed more training (which she later got from Shujinko and it's implied Bo Rai Cho trained her as well after he saved her from having her soul transferred to the Dragon King's soldier). So Kano was really being pressed by a barely trained and inexperienced Li Mei. 💀
The real biggest problem that did Kano Unfairly Dirty is because he doesn't have his own Chapter Run, that's the biggest problem why he was being a Glorified Jobber throughout the Story of the current MK Timeline. Edit: TBH, They're always going to give the Heroes a VIP Pass for the Chapter based Story Mode, while they don't give the Villains (Like Kano) a chance to shine.
Hopefully after Aftermath, where we got to play as villains beating down the heroes, NRS will let us do that again in future MK games. And it’s not just Kano being a Jobber, Sektor, Noob, Reptile, Baraka, Mileena, villain Kabal, Erron Black.... pretty much anyone not a big bad final boss get’s washed.
their story system is really flawed, either do as you say and make you play as the villains or just have it so just because you beat them in a fight doesnt mean you win in the story, because it makes all of the villains extremely weak and non threatening

He’s a jobber, but he’s survived being the enemy of both the Special Forces (The S.H.I.E.L.D. Of Mortal Kombat) and the Red Dragon (The League of Assassins, whom his gang actively mocks on a daily basis) well into his fifties. He became general of Shao Kahn’s forces when Shao was about to be beaten for good, and actually turned things around, pushing the enemy all the way back to Edenia. And I take heart in the fact he’s not really worse than any of the other villains in MK, Baraka, Mileena, Noob Saibot, Erron Black, Sektor, Reptile.... they’ve all been washed just as much as Kano has.

Kano in the comics is respectable with his Hand-Nuke-Canon which wiped out an entire Army. But doubt he could use that in close combat without killing himself, any street Fighter washes Kano and calls it a day

Kano is my boy, been my favorite since day one! But being real, he hasn't had the best MK career in terms of winning any fights. A LOT of his accomplishments happen off screen. BUT Kano served his purpose to who ever he was aligned with. He was never the "Main" antagonist of the series, but always a thorn in the side of the Heroes! He kept the hero's off their trail (mortalkombat.fandom.com/f/p/3343172654596381510). Kano WAS a threat! You didn't hire Kano bc he would put a "W" in your column, you hired him to "Acquire & Distract" and anything else he did should have been a bonus for him and In that purpose, he did his job and did it well! I've said it before, in MK11 I didn't have a problem with Kano's death it was very fitting for his character. The problem was there was never a build up to his death, the way they portrayed Young Sonya beating 2 Kano's was a very 1-sided fight and she was never in real danger which made it LACKLUSTER IMO! What would've have been great is that in a Cinematic Cut-scene Fight, Present Kano bodied Young Sonya (Bc he KNOWS ALL HER MOVES-a nod to the movie). Then Kano could would let his guard down bc he "has" Sonya dead to rights, get cocky, monologue and then get caught by surprise! That would have been a better lead up to his death!
I do agree that Kano needs to sit out till Mk13 you can't just bring this guy back to life after he's been buried this hard. It will be weird to play a MK game without him but for the character's sake it needs to happen

The issue with Kano is that he's stuck in a world where he's a somewhat ordinary man and everyone else is practically some sort of god. In real life, someone like Kano would be scary considering how much power and influence he has.
That's no excuse. If Stryker can beat Kintaro, Ermac, and other otherworldly creatures/people (still, I kinda find it hard to believe that), then surely a leader of a infamous gang should put up a fight.

Then making Reptile, Kintaro, Ermac or Mileena kill him, so they could give some wins to the bad guys and give some credibility to Stryker. There was a lot of NPC's created for the challenge tower so they easily could have put them to fight Stryker in the story mode, because to be honest, Stryker shouldn't be able to defeat anyone in the MK 9 roster, and fighting some of the forces of outworld and then dying in the hands of some of the bad guys is the only thing i would see him do, just like in the movie Battle of the Realms.

I’m trying to figure out how Kano gets his ass best for assumably 20+ years and never once figured out how to beat Sonya. Also how did Sonya continuously put Kano on his ass and never kill nor capture him. It makes no sense.
Well mate, you see...I’m assuming that Kano was being a cocky little fuck and it eventually got him killed. Mind you...he DID end up the leader of an entire criminal organization. Which obviously means he is very strong. So he let Sonya beat him over and over again. As time went on, they both obviously declined due to time wearing down on them. While they are definitely different from typical people as a result of all of their training, age is a bitch if one...you don’t stay vigilant about keeping in shape and 2...that age doesn’t translate into some experience. Kano clearly declined more than Sonya did, for Kano was just running around while Sonya attended to her military duties and trained. Along with that, consider that with age comes wisdom (typically speaking). Again, Sonya ended up winning this one. Since she’s involved with military, she is going to be very disciplined. So she was smart to not end up killing Kano by mistake. Kano on another note...still messing up. Still ducking around, jobbing and looking for that green rather than training.
Along with that, Kano’s lack of respect for humility ended up being his demise. And bad Karma ended up catching up to him. Therefore, Lady Karma taught him a lesson and he got into a battle that ended with his death. Which to be honest...is kind of pathetic. I think he might have fun in a Netherrealm, however.
Sonya has way more training. One of his intros with Rambo says that he never even served in the military. He's just not likely to win in a fair fight against Sonya. She should have arrested him a long time ago though
@@MrWilson812 This. Kano is a street brawler. Meaning, against an average joe or a person with proficient skill, he would whoop some ass. But against more or highly skilled opponents, he would get his ass handed to him. He did manage to defeat young Johnny off-screen though.
Honestly I was kind of shocked to see Kano in MK11. I thought he was running out of steam and needed a break after mkx but even with two of him there in MK11, he still couldn’t get a notable win. Please put kano in the bench for MK12 and please bring some better newcomers or bring back old favorites that we haven’t seen in a bit. Please.

I'm going to say this, my problem with the NRS story chapters is you always play the good guys. Now If we can play as the evil characters in the story, it will show how much of a threat they are in canon.

Kano does deserve a little more respect and this is how I would do Kano here. People do forget all characters here are way above humans pure super humans even tho a lot are supposed to be humans but due to their feats and lore they are stronger, Sonya literally can kick people into a bloody mess that’s not humanly possible even with the strongest peak humans so they are all powerful as hell. So normal humans can’t do shit, they can dodge bullets and even lightning for higher tier fighters that’s beyond us but they get hurt by bullets which is lazy writing they should make it clear that Sonya upgraded her forces to have stronger and faster weapons to match the super human enemies to make it more reasonable in the power scaling cuz they don’t die to wall and building level stuff easily or hits from characters stronger than that yet bullets hurt them so yeah a easy fix there. But MK especially later games are not good with consistent power scaling and logic, they don’t think stuff over and they do it poorly with such poor writing for some like Kano. Kano is supposed to be a threat so he should be able to beat some people so he is seen as a threat by us too. How I see it they should be more back and forth, Kano should start off stronger and more durable than Sonya yet she’s faster and more skilled so she can beat him but he beats her in their first meeting so Johnny beats Kano to save her and gain her respect. Then sometimes she can win due to skill and speed overcoming the arrogant brute but other times he can win or draw or knock her back to get away due to his dirty tactics and tech, then later in MKX with training Sonya can be stronger than Kano and show him how he’s let his arrogant let himself fall behind yet still make it a good fight just show how she’s grown and beats him down, no need for the embarrassments all the time. Kano also should of been a threat and mini boss for Cassie in MKX till she’s gotten more experience and trained more near the end where she becomes stronger than ever to beat his ass for her mom then in MK11 he should of trained to be better so he’s stronger than younger Sonya yet his younger self is equal or weaker than her so he loses yet the Older Kano gives her trouble with his new gear tho he can still lose in a standstill till she kills him. And there he’s a good low tier threat for the human characters who are still super human yet he has wins and losses not looking as bad, he is a threat physically not just due to his organization tbh more about the clan should be used and brought up tho this is mostly on Kano atm.

Love Kano, used to always use him in Deadly Alliance back in the day. I always thought his fighting styles were a little weird tho, always saw him as a brawler type but he’s got a fancy kung fu style and Aikido… Used to just switch to his knives as fast as possible.

I just now noticed that Kabal's voice actor in MK9 is the same as Raiden's voice actor in Deadly Alliance.
Kano was unfrozen by the time Cyber Subzero reached the graveyard. Noob says Kano warned him about Subzero's defection.

Kano in the comics is respectable with his Hand-Nuke-Canon which wiped out an entire Army. But doubt he could use that in close combat without killing himself, any street Fighter washes Kano and calls it a day

Kanos always been a jobber, he's just been better at it than the likes of Hsu Hao or Kobra...NRS should give Kano a break and bring back Jarek with a reworked moves list

Kano is my boy, been my favorite since day one! But being real, he hasn't had the best MK career in terms of winning any fights. A LOT of his accomplishments happen off screen. BUT Kano served his purpose to who ever he was aligned with. He was never the "Main" antagonist of the series, but always a thorn in the side of the Heroes! He kept the hero's off their trail (mortalkombat.fandom.com/f/p/3343172654596381510). Kano WAS a threat! You didn't hire Kano bc he would put a "W" in your column, you hired him to "Acquire & Distract" and anything else he did should have been a bonus for him and In that purpose, he did his job and did it well!
I've said it before, in MK11 I didn't have a problem with Kano's death it was very fitting for his character. The problem was there was never a build up to his death, the way they portrayed Young Sonya beating 2 Kano's was a very 1-sided fight and she was never in real danger which made it LACKLUSTER IMO! What would've have been great is that in a Cinematic Cut-scene Fight, Present Kano bodied Young Sonya (Bc he KNOWS ALL HER MOVES-a nod to the movie). Then Kano could would let his guard down bc he "has" Sonya dead to rights, get cocky, monologue and then get caught by surprise! That would have been a better lead up to his death!
Maybe if Kano's ending in Deadly Alliance was canon, Liu Kang would finally get Kano over.
I do agree that Kano needs to sit out till Mk13 you can't just bring this guy back to life after he's been buried this hard. It will be weird to play a MK game without him but for the character's sake it needs to happen
Thought this was a relatively new video with kano being the main villain in the new animated movie and all, I got all excited then seen it was a year old. Still great and hilarious like always but I'm dying for some new material from my boy

The issue with Kano is that he's stuck in a world where he's a somewhat ordinary man and everyone else is practically some sort of god. In real life, someone like Kano would be scary considering how much power and influence he has.
Except a lot of the cast is also ordinary.
And yet he keeps on losing to Sonya, who is even more ordinary than him but still somehow gets a win over on Geras.
That's no excuse. If Stryker can beat Kintaro, Ermac, and other otherworldly creatures/people (still, I kinda find it hard to believe that), then surely a leader of a infamous gang should put up a fight.
@@ShiftyGuy777 let’s be honest Stryker should not have won against anyone in his chapter (especially against Ermac) since Stryker is literally just a regular human cop that only knows how to use guns.
@@gabrieltejada1697 They could have put some NPC's in Stryker's chapter or something, making him take out some ordinary outworld tarkatans, cyborgs or something like that. Then making Reptile, Kintaro, Ermac or Mileena kill him, so they could give some wins to the bad guys and give some credibility to Stryker. There was a lot of NPC's created for the challenge tower so they easily could have put them to fight Stryker in the story mode, because to be honest, Stryker shouldn't be able to defeat anyone in the MK 9 roster, and fighting some of the forces of outworld and then dying in the hands of some of the bad guys is the only thing i would see him do, just like in the movie Battle of the Realms.

The weirdest thing is that Kano somehow keeps knocking out Cassie Cage in MK11, but he gets washed by just about every other kombatant he's run into.
I’m trying to figure out how Kano gets his ass best for assumably 20+ years and never once figured out how to beat Sonya.
Also how did Sonya continuously put Kano on his ass and never kill nor capture him. It makes no sense.
Well mate, you see...I’m assuming that Kano was being a cocky little fuck and it eventually got him killed. Mind you...he DID end up the leader of an entire criminal organization. Which obviously means he is very strong. So he let Sonya beat him over and over again. As time went on, they both obviously declined due to time wearing down on them. While they are definitely different from typical people as a result of all of their training, age is a bitch if one...you don’t stay vigilant about keeping in shape and 2...that age doesn’t translate into some experience. Kano clearly declined more than Sonya did, for Kano was just running around while Sonya attended to her military duties and trained. Along with that, consider that with age comes wisdom (typically speaking). Again, Sonya ended up winning this one. Since she’s involved with military, she is going to be very disciplined. So she was smart to not end up killing Kano by mistake. Kano on another note...still messing up. Still ducking around, jobbing and looking for that green rather than training.
Along with that, Kano’s lack of respect for humility ended up being his demise. And bad Karma ended up catching up to him. Therefore, Lady Karma taught him a lesson and he got into a battle that ended with his death. Which to be honest...is kind of pathetic. I think he might have fun in a Netherrealm, however.
Sonya has way more training. One of his intros with Rambo says that he never even served in the military. He's just not likely to win in a fair fight against Sonya. She should have arrested him a long time ago though
@@MrWilson812 This. Kano is a street brawler. Meaning, against an average joe or a person with proficient skill, he would whoop some ass. But against more or highly skilled opponents, he would get his ass handed to him. He did manage to defeat young Johnny off-screen though.

Honestly I was kind of shocked to see Kano in MK11. I thought he was running out of steam and needed a break after mkx but even with two of him there in MK11, he still couldn’t get a notable win. Please put kano in the bench for MK12 and please bring some better newcomers or bring back old favorites that we haven’t seen in a bit. Please.
Or bring him back and give him a win? I mean, Aftermath has me hopeful for Villain chaps in future MK games, give a sense of danger for the heroes. Kano and a lot of the MK villain cast could use it.

Kano does deserve a little more respect and this is how I would do Kano here.
People do forget all characters here are way above humans pure super humans even tho a lot are supposed to be humans but due to their feats and lore they are stronger, Sonya literally can kick people into a bloody mess that’s not humanly possible even with the strongest peak humans so they are all powerful as hell. So normal humans can’t do shit, they can dodge bullets and even lightning for higher tier fighters that’s beyond us but they get hurt by bullets which is lazy writing they should make it clear that Sonya upgraded her forces to have stronger and faster weapons to match the super human enemies to make it more reasonable in the power scaling cuz they don’t die to wall and building level stuff easily or hits from characters stronger than that yet bullets hurt them so yeah a easy fix there.
But MK especially later games are not good with consistent power scaling and logic, they don’t think stuff over and they do it poorly with such poor writing for some like Kano.
Kano is supposed to be a threat so he should be able to beat some people so he is seen as a threat by us too.
How I see it they should be more back and forth, Kano should start off stronger and more durable than Sonya yet she’s faster and more skilled so she can beat him but he beats her in their first meeting so Johnny beats Kano to save her and gain her respect. Then sometimes she can win due to skill and speed overcoming the arrogant brute but other times he can win or draw or knock her back to get away due to his dirty tactics and tech, then later in MKX with training Sonya can be stronger than Kano and show him how he’s let his arrogant let himself fall behind yet still make it a good fight just show how she’s grown and beats him down, no need for the embarrassments all the time.
Kano also should of been a threat and mini boss for Cassie in MKX till she’s gotten more experience and trained more near the end where she becomes stronger than ever to beat his ass for her mom then in MK11 he should of trained to be better so he’s stronger than younger Sonya yet his younger self is equal or weaker than her so he loses yet the Older Kano gives her trouble with his new gear tho he can still lose in a standstill till she kills him.
And there he’s a good low tier threat for the human characters who are still super human yet he has wins and losses not looking as bad, he is a threat physically not just due to his organization tbh more about the clan should be used and brought up tho this is mostly on Kano atm.

The problem with MK9, MKX, and MK11 is that you NEVER play as the heels during the story mode.
