If NRS wants to intentionally drive characters into the ground they need to do it to D'Vorah. Seriously I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually prefer Cole Young to D'Vorah and that's saying something because I HATE Cole Young, and if he kills D'Vorah I would actually tolerate him.
That really doesn't mean much to us cosidering we really don't know how much you hate either character. Like you would be better off making a more universally experienced comparison.

Shinnok was completely forgotten in mk deadly alliance and only a few references in deception. He had a pretty badass run in Armageddon. Resurrecting onaga,uniting the forces of darkness and manipulating Daegon. However mkx completely wasted him

At the beginning, when you were talking about Shinnok taking over the NetherRealm, you didnt mention the first attempt of Shinnok to escape. Sub-Zero (Bi-Han) whom allowed Quan Chi to get the Amulet, had to go to the NetherRealm and fight them in order to retrieve it.

Did he do a Rise and Fall of Gohan? I loved that most epik arc it showcases and epitomizes the build up of Gohan’s potential since the Saiyan Saga and it works very effectively and its a shame from Buu Saga and on from both GT and Super continuities he is brushed to the side, Cassie defeating a steroided up version of one of the most powerful kharacters in MK with plot armor was a cop out conclusion and trash writing. What they should’ve done is have all the Kombat Kids, Sub Zero and the Lin Kuei, Fujin, injured Bo Rai Cho hold Corrupted Shinnok long enough for the injured SF to arrive along with the injured Scorpion all team up in a last attempt to Save Earthrealm all these Earthrealm faction to fight against Shinnok then you could have Cassie’s stupid power given a extra boost cause she used it the whole time to no avail maybe Johnny lends her what is left of his power to her to fight a weakened Corrupted Shinnok even then she barely beats him lucky to escape with her life thats how Shinnok should’ve been written but NRS are bunch of lazy arsewipes.

He was really copped out from incompetent writing, and because Shinnok is one of my favorite MK villains it pisses me off that Kronika exists to be his mother furthermore belittling his kharacter because “Titans are the new thing now brah” horrendous retcon and I like the idea of Cetrion being the Ying to Shinnok’s Yang but putting Kronika in the picture ruins both kharacter since not only Kronika is an excuse plot point to attempt to bring back dead kharacters and to atone or at least attempt to the bad writing in the past but also is an awful incompetent kharacter similar to the writers lol this makes Shinnok seem even more pathetic. This kharacter was treated with more respect in the OG timeline aka the Midway Era and that Shinnok along with Daegon, Onaga, OG timeline Noob Saibot are my favorite villains in MK period.
Yo Fighter’s Den, I found a channel on UA-cam called “Mortal Kombat Reconciliation” and whoever created it, knows the history and lore very well and he/she definitely gives the real and proper respect to all the characters in the Mortal Kombat Universe.
The person knows the importance of the main story lore, and all of the characters within it.
They even manage to display every character’s respected power levels and most definitely makes them feel like the actual Mortal Kombat Characters that we all grew up loving and playing as.
The person behind the page uses the old original sprites from the Mortal Kombat Arcade versions, he cleverly uses the sprites from MK’s 1, 2 and 3 to tell the main story of his series very creatively and the main story is basically the story structure right from the beginning of the original Mortal Kombat Timeline, or at least right after the events of the first Mortal Kombat Tournament on Shang Tsung’s Island, and start of Mortal Kombat 2.
You most certainly have to check out their channel, especially with being a hardcore Mortal Kombat fan.

Since he used to be an Elder God, I always felt like Shinnok should’ve been MK’s answer to Thanos and Darkseid, the biggest of big bads in the MK universe, and I was excited by the ending to MK9 setting him up for X, but then he gets his ass kicked in the first scene and the rest of the game centers around some bs Outworld civil war and I just couldn’t stand it. I felt like X should’ve been a reboot of 4, Deadly Alliance and Deception but with Shinnok leading the Deadly Alliance and the DA consisting of reps from all 6 of MK’s most prominent Realms: Quan Chi for Netherrealm, Revenant Sindel for Edenia, Reiko for Outworld, Hotaru for Orderrealm, Havik for Chaosrealm, and maybe Revenant Liu Kang for Earthrealm and the heroes would consist of nearly every protagonist from those 3 games.
But that’s exactly what Shao Khan is? That’s why he won Armageddon. It’s just that Neatherrealm seems to forget that.

Onaga would be more along the lines of someone like Galactus or Trigon. Shinnok being Mephisto is cool, the others I feel like you just threw darts at and it stuck with you.

Shinnok was introduced too early in my opinion. MK4 Quan Chi should have been my villain full stop with shinnok only being in the background and in lore. Shinnok should have then returned in Armageddon as the main villain

Shinnok and Quan Chi in my opinion are the best villains in the Mortal Kombat franchise,hell they are much better villains than Shao Kahn,Shang Tsung,and even Kronika,the Fallen Elder God and the Sorcerer of the Neatherrealm have done more damage to the story and characters much more than the Emperor and Sorcerer of Outwolrd,have awesome powers and abilities,cool costumes designs,sinister voices,and are downright diabolically cruel and evil,heck the freaking own the Neatherrealm of crying out loud,Shinnok and Quan Chi needs to return in mk11 because they are important characters in the franchise and the roster needs more villains,plus NRS treated them dirty in many ways.
I always admired Netherrealm’s storytelling, but I preferred Quan Chi from the Original timeline and MK Legends Scorpion’s Revenge. Speaking of Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion’s Revenge, that version of Quan Chi is such a SADIST; just WOW.

@@chadpeterson5698 OK,I GET IT Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung did alot of horrible things that made them vicious monsters and did alot of damages to the characters in the franchise,but you forgot the important aspects of the story,the battle of Raiden and Shinnok that almost destroys Earth ruined the Zatteran/Saurian original home to be destroyed and force themselves to move to Outwolrd that lead their species to extinction,it is possible that Shinnok's betrayal came before Onaga's falls to Shao,Quan Chi manipulating the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu lead to wiping out the Shirai Ryu clan,creating Scorpion by Hanzo Hasashi's soul full of anger,hatred,and sadness with hellfire,creating Noob Saibot by Bi Han's cold corrupted soul full with a pitch black heart,and by Bi Han's fall it initiated the Cyber Initiative,and unlike Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung,Shinnok and Quan Chi planned everything in the dark that not even Earthrealm,Outwolrd,and Edenia's forces could have seen the ambush of Neatherrealm's armies.

Also Shao Kahn is more successful than Shinnok since he's actually conquered realms succeeding in conquering Edenia where Shinnok failed and he even won in the end of the original timeline. And Shang Tsung is more successful and critical to the story than Quan Chi heck Kronika's whole plot in MK11 hinges on Shang Tsung and Shang Tsung himself comes almost as close as Shao Kahn to winning in the NRS timeline if not he actually succeeded. Meanwhile both Shinnok and Quan Chi lost big time. Also also while Shinnok did drive the Zateran race out of Earthrealm Shao Kahn was the one to nearly drive them to extinction killing all of them except Reptile and the 2 Chameleons because they knelt before him.
My point is that Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung were more successful in thier endeavors than Shinnok and Quan Chi were.
This popped up in my newsfeed and I just sighed because I already knew what was going down.

Shinnok got done dirty alright. Still, I think the whole thing could have worked if they actually put some effort into explaining the green energy and why Shinnok was so vulnerable against it. All they gave was some throwaway line about the Cage's being descended from some ancient warrior line. That means nothing, over half the cast can make that claim.
They should have said something like back in the old days Cetrion banged a mortal and gave birth to half human/half elder god that has some of Cetrion's power. Over the centuries the power faded but since the Cage's got mixed up with all the crazy of Mortal Kombat now the power is coming back out. Since Cetrion is Shinnok's sister it makes sense that he would be vulnerable to her power so losing to Johnny and Cassie doesn't feel like it comes out of nowhere.
Yes even in OG timeline shao khan was stronger than shinnok. Shinnok should be very powerful but he was done dirty badly portrayed and poorly written that's why even shao khan in his prime can beat shinnok and even daegon that garbage can also beat shinnok

In MKX you had a choice of 3 variations of a character to pick from and as well as having different moves their outfit was slightly different too. I just wished that they had an option to pick Corrupted Shinnok as that would’ve been sic! (I spell ‘sick’ as in good ‘sic’ and regular ‘sick’ as in unwell, disgusting or something disturbing i.e nonces ‘sick)
In the original timeline, Shinnok waged war against the heavens and won. It sounded dire until Liu Kang won at the end of 4. We are given a quick glimpse of his invasion in the beginning and he is quickly imprisoned. We pretty much forget about him until the last 30 mins and he is defeated again. Though by both accounts he didn't sound too threatening, I pick the original timeline over this new one.

Say what you will about Shinnok but my first game was MKX and that introduction to him was amazing, made him feel like a huge threat to me. The Johnny Cage “ancient power” reason worked for me and then when he was taken out I bought it.
MKX writers definitely screwed up on the Cages' powers, before MKX it was never stated that the Cages' ancestors were god killers but warriors who were selectively bred by the gods themselves to be their servants. It makes no sense if the gods decide to create a group of warriors with powers that could defeat or even kill them just imagine if those warriors decide to betray them they would be screwed. It's like if Superman decides to arm a group of high-skilled soldiers or assassins with Kryptonite weapons and those soldiers or assassins could be swayed to betray him. In the end it's just a bad writing and the writers' stupidity
