Today, my plumber doing a small job checked the water pressure and found 100 psi and suggested a water pressure reducing valve. Your excellent video showed me what to expect the plumber to do in installing a water pressure reducing valve.

Getting ready to install this exact valve tomorrow. Our city installed backflow preventers over the summer and the pressure of our incoming city water is now 102 lbs! I freaked out!. Made it look easy!

Nice to see you do a PRV video, I have a very similar setup to this. I like how you included a gauge on the downstream side. If PRV begins to fail (and it will eventually), the gauge will catch the problem.

Wife complained about the water pipe hammering when the clothes water is running. I tested the water pressure, it was 118 PSIG, then I went to adjust the water pressure regulator and none was ever installed for the 43 years we lived here. Up the hill about a half mile or so they installed a new and larger city water tank with more head pressure. So, I need to install a new pressure regulator with gauge, and a shutoff valve upstream of it. But I'll call the Plumber in case something would breaks free at the water supple valve or water meter location. I did watch Steve's other video where they called the water dept to shut the water off, and they did have a pipe nipple break at the meter. So, let the experts handle the job, or maybe get ready to pump your basements out.

Thank you!! I have been looking for this exact sort of video. I'm going to be replacing my PRV soon in my home as it is really old and we are having water pressure drops with multiple taps in use, and hopefully the source is the prv. I'm hoping to install gauges before and after the prv and this is exactly what I was looking for.

Will the check valve in the pressure reducer device cause the expansion of water from the water heater to drive the pressure up and make the pop-off valve drip, or is there an expansion tank in the system?

The pressure. You check it at is o ly at that time e that is why there is that red arrow on the gauge so you know how hi it can get at night when the pressure usually gets higher. No one ever talks about the city pumping in way too much pressure and ruining people's property before the regulators.

Interesting, here in Wisconsin anything over 80 PSI requires a PRV. I put one in my house because the PSI was 83, I dropped it down to 70 because I like a good high pressure shower like silkwood. 😂😂😂😂

    • @tempesttube
      @tempesttube Рік тому

Just remove the flow reducer from the shower head and you'll probably be fine at 60 PSI.

Steve nice to see the gauge going in, never checked my water pressure before. I got a gauge with the red hand also, 110 lbs but the gauge reads 80 lbs. my question is if I install that pressure regulator, Watts 3/4 LF25ACUB, does the water pressure creep up after a while to 110 or will it stay at 60 if that’s where I said it.

ditutuo jempol saja jago kalau kuat
    saya petugas pdam bro🙏🙏🙏🙏

Did you leave the pressure gauge above the regulator, or did you remove it and cap the tee?

  • @benh580

hey steve. I just bought a house and my water pressure was at 135. my PRV was bad. I rebuilt it and the pressure was good. however, whenever the water heater would kick on, the pressure would rise. so, I installed an expansion tank.
how dangerous was it to not have one installed earlier for my pipes?

  • @raulrolon6526

Steve I have a question, I installed a pressure valve at my house and the psi is at 40 the other day the valve was pulsating and shaking the pipes real bad. The valve is installed the correct way. What would make a new valve do that? And how do I fix it? Any help would be appreciated.
