Lore reason for those who might not know: Altair is missing a finger, the one he sacrificed to use the hidden blade, which is why he must be more careful while he climbs and also why most assassins learned to brandish a weapon in the right hand instead of the left (the one missing the ring finger, so to use the hidden blade instead).
Ezio struggles too, even tho not as much. He, canonically, in one of the comics said that he still damages his fingers with the blade. That's why he wears a glove on one of his hands during later games. This hidden blade is the coolest yet the bloodiest thing that's ever happened to assassins lmao. Altair clutched the entire guild and jumped out of the maassive Masyaf castle window 2 stories down and escaped with his son, at the age of 62. that man succumbed to age only in his 80's 😂
There could be another reason too: Altair is only appearing in Desmond's dream. This means that the mechanic of fast climbing, which is implemented only in the new Animus, isn't interpreted by Desmond's brain, maybe due to a recent use, and thus not being used enough to it.
Also, Acc.. to lore it was Altair (or his followers) who later invented the glove thingy written in codex during his exile for fast climb without that he can't do high catch while climbing
Actually, since Ezio only gets the glove for it from Leonardo AFTER Ezio learned how to do it from the Venice thieves. There's a good chance that it was something Ezio and Leonardo came up with together themselves later. As you only first get it in Brotherhood, which takes place years after Ezio learned it in 2.
Altaïr created these abilities Ezio is enjoying. Double assassination. Air assassination, fast climb all these abilities are written in Codex pages written by Altair given to Marco Polo and then in Italy Ezio found all these pages.
Ezio was a stronger climber and fighter but burned his body out and passed away much sooner than Altair. they’re still both the best of most if not all of their other assassin compatriots at the time though
This sequence also contains the only necessary ledge climb cancel in the whole campaign I believe. Always thought that was cool, maybe supposed to be an indication of Altair's skill.
@@brunovsky_ you can achieve extra height and speed in AC 1 and 2 by going for a ledge climb up a wall where there is no ledge to speak of and then right before an animation would play of Altair/Ezio grabbing at nothing and falling back down to the ground you can cancel out of it by leaping to either side and Altair/Ezio will step off the wall and jump to any post or hanging element he can grab at the side. In the dream sequence you have to perform this move to get up a certain tower as there is a wooden post too high to simply jump up to and with no regular climbable objects nearby.
