What I find interesting is that the EBU said on May 11th that it would be inappropriate for Joost to participate due to the crime investigation. Now they say that the crime investigation had nothing to do with their decision to disqualify him. This on it's own suggests that he was disqualified for weird reasons.
Not really he was DQ before the crime investigation had begun or at the very least at the same time. We know for a fact that Joost made a threatening move against a female journalist(she should've not been there at all at that point), this journalist reported the incident to EBU and also made a police report. The EBU made an internal investigation. (We assume) They don't know exactly everything went down and what the threatening move itself was and they have a limited time to make a choice and they couldn't wait for what the outcome of crime investigation would be. What they knew for a fact was that Joost made some kind of a threatening move to this journalist. And as EBU being a big international organisation they had to take some kind of action especially when a threat/violent action occurs involving an artist, based on what they knew and could do a DQ would be the best decision.
That’s the whole point They were saving their own … They did not do an independent investigation, they decided to DQ Joost without proof. They should have let him perform and remove him from the scoreboard, after Eurovision (if guilty). Innocent when proven guilty. When someone files a complaint, the police has to investigate it, but it doesn’t mean someone’s guilty. Who will go to the police next year?

WE ARE NOT OWED THE IDENTITY OF THE CAMERAPERSON And I say this as a Dutch person who was very upset about the disqualification and is of the conviction that Joost should be the opening act of the ESC next year, but the identity of the cameraperson should remain a secret. Ideally, with this altercation, Joost should have been as well while the police investigation ran. The fact that he was not (due to the EBUs insane actions), does not allow the other person to become known to 'the general public'. In that case she will get hate mail, threats and everything nasty because so many people, myself included, have chosen side with Joost. As much as I disagree with her actions, this is between her, Joost (and crew) and the EBU/ESC organistion and thus should not have a public awareness of any kind. As it would be weird for crew members to also be part of a delegation it is highly unlikely that Keren Peles (who was part of the Israeli delegation) was the one who the altercation was with. The real reason to why he was disqualified was that they realized he would win the contest. The female and Joost could just have talked after the incident but noo, something non-serious had to become something mega big and she went to report him as if it was super serious. Europapa was by far the best song in Eurovision 2024, it was too catchy and they had to get rid of it to give space for politics.
Hiding behind the police investigation while knowing the basics of what happened is what makes the EBU a guilty party in this story. Because a police investigation doesn’t mean someone is guilty or innocent in any way. You can accuse anyone else for everything without anything haven happened, and the police still is required to investigate.
The Isreali delegation acted exactly as they do when they are in Isreal. There are no consequences for Isreal, so they can do whatever they want, wherever they are. But if you are rude to them, ignore them, or talk against them, then you are antisemetic and should be punished.
I do not think we are owed the identity of the cameraperson, Joost is a large public figure with millions of fans. If their identity was ousted, they would get way more than their claims of '7000 threats a day.' I don't think Joost would want that for them either. The least that could be said though is a public apology or at least acknowledgement from the cameraperson and EBU that they may have done something wrong as well.
My problem with the zero tolerance stance by the EBU is it means zero nuance. What if he hits someone by accident, because it is crowded or he swings his arm the wrong way. With zero tolerance this should be a reason for disqualification.
I absolutely don’t believe a camerawoman (or a man) is week! Do you know how much muscle strength it takes to carry and keep a camera stable? Following (in this case the artist) at a brisk walk (sometimes running) and get good footage? A camera person can not be called week
Im so glad that despite all the drama that was happening this year, a non-binary person brought home the trophy. 💕 Although ofc that gives the Rimtim crowd yet an excuse to be extra nasty and transphobic in every comment section ever
I truely don't think that's the "Rimtim crowd". They just went with whatever they liked that wasn't nonbinary. I know, because my dad is one of those people. Please don't put this on the song. Baby Lasagna has nothing to do with them. Also too, I liked Baby Lasagna better, but there was just absolutely no way that song would win over The Code. The song, the vocals, the staging, the everthing. Everything was just perfect for Eurovision. They deserved to win for sure.
He should have been disqualified after this interview anyway - 03:09 I wouldn't want him or anyone who makes such threats anywhere near the attending audience.
There were entries that harassed people behind the scenes and on tv and they didn't even get a warning but an interview is what should get someone disqualified? Lol

She was filming with a phone?
Great
He should have been disqualified after this interview anyway - 03:09 I wouldn't want him or anyone who makes such threats anywhere near the attending audience.
There were entries that harassed people behind the scenes and on tv and they didn't even get a warning but an interview is what should get someone disqualified? Lol
@@bunnywarI absolutely agree that the EBU should've done something about the Israeli delegation and fans harassing other artists. The EBU should've never let Israel into the 2024 contest. But even implied bomb threats should absolutely be taken seriously. Maybe he didn't even realise that's how his comment could be interpreted, but it is very chilling.
This is not a threat to hurt anyone? I would rather think it's a threat that they are scared about him TALKING
@@emdove you realize people call drama on the internet getting attention blowing up right? You took it literally when it's slang from someone who's first language is not English
He was making a reference about the chaotic Gabber (Dutch rave) section of his song with the 'boom boom' beat that really gets the audience going ... and that's why the EBU would put it on last. Zero 'threats'. It was just a fun comment made by a fun guy at the end of a fun interview ... ua-cam.com/video/aXL90U66dZU/v-deo.htmlsi=RU6st2rbOOpYZID3
9:00 your video is just full of untrue facts . I won’t watch this
well well well
It is exactly what happened, what are the untrue facts in your opinion?
Israel wrecked Eurovision along with EBU and Swedish media
This was absolutely true that the songwriter from 1srael was actinglikeab*tch and filmed Joost without his consent all while knowing that he had requested not to film him.
By secretly filming and posting condescending comments Keren Peles acted like a really despicable person
Hiding behind the police investigation while knowing the basics of what happened is what makes the EBU a guilty party in this story. Because a police investigation doesn’t mean someone is guilty or innocent in any way.
You can accuse anyone else for everything without anything haven happened, and the police still is required to investigate.
