Absolutely! Just like there is no one out there with a "crystal ball" who knows what the future holds. Loved it when SS said that he did not have a crystal ball or have
any idea what will happen in the next few months, years, or decades. I avoid people who claim otherwise because many of them are liars, thieves, and charlatans.
For me, the best thing about stacking is how flexible it can be with many possible ways of doing it. I'm not into bars, although I do have a few. I really like Morgan
dollars and Kennedy half dollars, US 90% silver coins of all kinds, and national mint coins from the US, UK, and Canada. Others are interesting to me but I limit my
holdings to those which I can sell most easily. Some would call this boring and maybe it is but it is the path that works best for me. Others will find their own paths
to building a nice stack and that's great.

One thing I would add, (not sure if SS mentioned it), as a newer stacker, is not to go around blabbing about what you are doing, or how much you have.
You have no control who those you talk to, talk to; & so forth.
And, if you are talking to someone, you know & trust, about seeing if they could be interested, in getting started, just ask them if they would keep it private.

Yes, it does, because when we consider all the crap that is going on in this world and all the twists and turns
it might take, we just know that having some real money in their hands is going to be a real life-saver. I think
that this is one of the best, if not THE best, gifts we can give our family members.

Congrats, your the first YoeTube metal stacker to say "i don't want the dollar to collapse" We should stack silver for the future, and a slow burn up toward $25 $30 then $50 and on and on, and we should also hope we never have to sell......but it's there if you need it. Thanks

I buy silver not just to stack silver, but also as a collector. I like the fact there’s a plethora of rounds to collect… my current goal (I’m new to this) is to have a tube of the major sovereign rounds (eagles, maple leafs, brittanias, kangaroos, philharmonics, kruggernds, etc.).

In the early years (80s and 90s) i was a very small collector. Took a break for a number of years, raising a family, no extra funds really. Since 2010-2011 ive used PMs as my savings account, a little here, a little there. Ive got enough silver now, made my last order today. Got some rounds for 26 and change, some bars for a little more. Now im saving what i was spending per week/month and buying gold on sale from here on out, mainly 1 oz, and putting some in the home bank cash stash. If by some chance prices spike i might sell some but not all of my stack, ever, no matter what the price. Thx SS, great video, AGAIN. Good luck all !

I stack purely for the sake of stacking. I have zero interest in numismatics... I have enough hobbies, don't need another one. All of my grandparents were teens/early adults during the Great Depression, and the one thing they always drilled was to NEVER trust the banks... only keep in there what you need to pay the bills. My stack is a secure way to keep my money away from the prying eyes of the digital world, and pass it along should I never need it.

      @JohnnyOnion-jz7tf Рік тому +2

yeah, playing metals off each other, diversifying, can really help you increase your stack size.
I bought rhodium under $1000 and it went to nearly $30,000.
I sent what I had in and had them send me that much in silver.
if silver goes up dramatically, you can swap it off for platinum or whatever metal is lower than its average spot at that point, then do it again.
Works even better when you include more than just gold and silver, include platinum and palladium into the mix as well....just make sure you understand the current spot price ranges, the likely highs and lows, and it works out pretty well.

A lot of us that have been around for a lot of years started in coin collecting. Silver and gold are just an extension of that. Some coin shops started carrying bullion, so collectors became the early "stackers". But before that, when the Hunt Bros scandal hit bullion coins and rounds weren't much of a thing yet. There was no such thing as an American Silver Eagle. But many homes had silverware, candle holders, plates and other silver household items back then. I was a freshman in high school, and it was funny to see Grandma's in line with their candelabra's. I didn't sell my 90% coins, but I did sell wrestling metals and a few other household items. Of course, you didn't get anything close to spot. Crazy times!

Good show, Seeker. I think you may have stopped me from making a mistake... I've been stacking for more than a year and I stack because I have a spending problem, so I recently bought 2 more tubes of Eagles to finish a box I've been working on ( and OCD-ing over ) so that goal is now complete and I'm quite happy. However, seeing the spot price take another hit this morning, I was seriously contemplating buying another Kilo bar for my stack, but I don't have the money on hand yet, so that would've required me to put it on a card and pay more for it. So, good job pointing out the FOMO error to us. Well done! 👍

premiums have gone down cause its summer time. We have seen this scenario for last 10 yrs. Come the fall premiums will rise. 1 big difference from this summer than the previous 9 summers local coin shops have seen a steady flow of business. Target price is $30 then $50 which it was in 1980 . Then how high it goes is anyones guess

I started with graded eagles. What I found was their value remained fairly stable outside of Silver prices themselves. Limited downside, but also limited upside. I just traded in a full run of proofs (NGC 69) for about break even, but it got me a 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf, plus 13 Silver Maples. Probably should have gone all silver and more than double my ozs but I wanted the Gold.
I started from the view of a collector, but I kept everything boxed and hidden. I completed my goal to collect the full run 86 to 2022 Proof eagles. Same NGC label.
Now its about volume and DCA. I have more graded eagles to shed if the right opportunity presents itself.

Owning silver does several things for me:
A: It acts as a form of 'forced' saving, as I can't just impulse spend physical silver. It also allows me to become my OWN bank, knowing that I hold my own wealth which can't be taken from me unexpectedly.
B: It acts as a hedge against hyperinflation. Owning silver acts as an insurance policy against the US dollar tanking in value, which is a VERY real possibility in today's world.
C: Should the 'powers that be' attempt to force society into a 100% digital currency, where THEY have complete control of the money, owning silver (and gold) could (and most likely WOULD) provide a viable alternative for commerce.
D: I just happen to enjoy the beauty in many of the coins and rounds that I own. I was a coin collector before I was a stacker, and that passion hasn't died yet. The Silver Eagle, Britannia and the Philharmonic are three great examples of fantastic designs put into coin form.

I don't have any rules or advice, other then stack what you like....
If your in it strictly for profits, your in for an emotional ride ..
Just buy what you like...maybe buy generic rounds or bars to keep your average down, but spend a little extra on what you like If you want....I dont know my average and I don't care, I love my treasure ,and that's what matters the most., as an added bonus, i have two kids, so if i die, it gets passed down thru the family..GL!

I have been stacking silver for a couple of years now. Up until my last purchase I have just been buying 1 oz bars from Apmex. I admit I started as a hedge against a financial crisis. As part of that my last purchase was a roll of 90% dimes, just to have some smaller specie for bartering, etc. if/when the idiots in DC manage to crash things. I usually buy about $100 worth at a time because being retired it takes me a while to accumulate surplus funds. And it is just fun to be able to say I have it.

Hype i don't out much faith in. I just get what i like if i can afford it, and so far based on current fiat rates, i ain't done too bad since the '60's.

Yes, those of us who have been around since the 1960s and before then know the scoop on the value of saving money and in what form to keep it.

I have recently gotten into converting dollars to physical silver more for a hedge against dollar devaluation. If the silver price goes through the roof, that's a bonus. A problem I have, if the price of silver does take off, convert it to what? For me, not back to dollars. Gold maybe? And I also like the way silver looks and feels.

    • @Dennis0824
      @Dennis0824 Рік тому

I agree. Even if the price takes off, why would you convert it? The name of this game is an insurance policy for your wealth. If the price takes off, it is a sign that fiat currencies are stressed or on the brink of collapse. Best to hold the silver until a new financial system is established. The other option is to convert silver into other tangible assets that might be bargain priced because of the financial or economic situation. My uncle did that during WWII. He had a farm and people were desperate for food but they had no money. He traded food for furniture. When the war ended and most European countries reset their currencies he sold all the furniture for the new currency and made a killing.

    into metals since 1985.
I think I must have caught onto the game quick because I learned price averaging very soon after realizing metals arent stocks and I can hold out for decades riding the highs and lows and never risk losing my physical metals.
Some get irritated about the price being manipulated, but I see that as a fantastic advantage because it makes silver volatile enough that you will be able to turn it and increase your investment just with the metals themselves.
The third thing I caught on to quick was patience. Thanks to the above revelation, i realized there is no reason to ever panic sell. Never worry about the price tanking. Use it to buy more knowing it will always go back up.
This is why my FIRST advice to anyone getting into metals is learn about Price Averaging and Never Panic no matter where the price goes.
its a very easy game once you get a few basics down.
and it gets more interesting when you start playing the metals off each other....silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium....so you can increase your stack even more just using the metals prices.
I dont personally get into gold. I own a little but not anything worth noting because governments are still just too damned interested in gold for my liking.

Stacking adds Peace of Mind. When you look at reports on the stock market or retirements funds consistently change. Then you take a look at how big corporations, or the ultra-wealthy diversify their profit. I would say you first have your sinking fund I've heard it called otherwise, your current expenses and wants, second you have your HSA/Not Taxable funds, third investments/retirements, fourth you have your silver gold/pre-retirement funds working backwards. So honestly after thinking about it time after time... It makes sense to have 1 to 3 percent of your assets in actual well assets. Gold, precious metal or primary silver would be the easiest because this asset class has withstood the test of time, it hardly diminishes, it cannot spoil, it's very easy to quantify value, it's used as a resource.

Generic follows spot. Limited and discontinued stuff sometimes carries a big premium. I bought a bunch of Norse Gods Freya rounds for a few dollars over spot years ago, they sell for $45 each right now. My new pick is the "Dead men tell no tales" Pirate rounds. They are $30 each, and when discontinued hopefully they will be worth $10-$20 over spot.

You buy silver because you know that holding dollars in savings is like holding ice cubes. Silver and gold is a placeholder to store the value of your wealth over years. It's not there to make you rich, just keep you whole.

Good video. IMHO, IF the SHTF and the dollar collapses, generic or low premium silver rounds are the way to go. I seriously doubt that a ounce silver Eagle will be worth more than a generic low cost round. All that will matter, is that it's an ounce of silver. In other words, I think premiums will be meaningless if the SHTF. Just my 2 cents.

So I heard a new to me saying or term I don't remember the exact dates but at a point in time 2 90% silver dimes would buy you a gallon, a gas. Today, 2 90% silver times will buy you a gallon of gas many years in between the 2.
