Love the manual brake. I also have a manual brake but to my wife's despair it is indoors in my office and I typically use it late at night when I have time to focus. lol
I said this on your last vid - Ive been researching and making a full build plan for a time attack NB Maita for years now, and just came across your channel. In my plan, K series with CD009. Amazing that we both got to the same answer. A bit sad youre doing it first, but hey, I will be with you every step of the way and take your lessons forward too. You have all my support.
@@wingman703 instant reply! Love it. Same person here - I made this account to eventually document my build. Hopped here to sub and comment on this too to make the algorithm fly. Also, thank you for showing me that the trans fit. I too had no idea what would be required, and was prepared to get the grinder out...This just makes me happy.
@@StreetAttackAutomotive I ended up just kissing the top of the transmission shifter plate with a grinder to gain myself an extra 1/8th inch of clearance. Depending on what shifter you get you might also need to enlarge the shifter hole in the trans tunnel as well, but it's not a lot. Honestly that transmission fits the Miata tunnel better then it has any right to.
@@wingman703 thank you! Will have to have a look. And also how to sneak exhaust passed it since I want a specific exhaust setup... But, that's head scratchy time for when I get there. Im itching to start man!
Yeah $500 for that mount is crazy. I could completely understand $200-$250, but twice that? Insane. Even if you assumed they spend $100 per mount($50 material+1hr from a skilled welder), $200 would be well into the green.
Loving this build series, the humor is great! Curious about the fender cutouts rear of the front wheels. Been looking to do something similar with our NB ChampCar, just trying to figure out the right approach. If you could bestow some knowledge that would be greatly appreciated, cheers.
Nothing fancy, just the OE fenders cut and held inwards with self tappers. There are various venders like leftlane designs that build bolt on vents for that area if you want something cleaner looking.
But but but big hammer :( At the time of filming I didn't have a press. I now have a small press, but haven't gotten around to getting the brake stuff.
Any plans for diff cooling, or has that not been an issue for you so far? I know many 350+ track yatas, especially endurance ones, do differential oil coolers.
Never tracked diff temps. What I don't know can't hurt me. I've never had diff fluid come out looking or smelling burned, and it gets changed once a season anyway.
Just care on the solid mount. All my research has yielded multiple warnings that K series rattle EVERYTHING loose f solid mounted. If not already, loctite everything- may be more difficult that your car is already built. Tight check stuff often, or use as a temp mount while you work out how to not solid mount things?
Every bolt on this car gets locktite, or where able(like the exhaust) safety wire. Vibrations will definitely be/has always been a source of issues and this car has an extensive nut and bolt list that's performed regularly.
@@wingman703 Thanks for the reply. Something I will think about myself. I need to learn how to properly implement safety wire. My current build has tiny insignificant bolts come loose, because I skipped loctite on them. Luckily did all the important ones... but since learnt to do all
@@wingman703 I don't either, I'm just making comments so the youtube likes your video. Nice video, it made me laugh with the hammer on...haha. Talon said hi

K is the way and the CD009 should hold everything these motors can make and more.

Great video, again! I love the custom fab work for the drive train.
I'm also amazed V8R wouldn't budge of price. That's pretty ridiculous.

They wanted to charge me $400 for the mounting brackets for wilwood calipers, so not surprised they wanted $500 for the diff mount

@12:01 "Yeah, That aint goin anywhere"
Crossbar for the transmission looks like it's gonna bend. Couldn't get some angle or square tube for that instead of a flat piece?
It's damm near quarter inch steel. If it bends I'd be stunned. I could build something else if it gives me issues, but I'm fairly confident in it.
Man, you need a Swag Offroad finger brake!
