Very thoughtful analysis and he was 22 at the time of this performance almost 3 years ago. He's been practicing. You should check out a more recent performance like "Love is Like a Dream" or "Ogni Pietra".

@@yogajedi3337 Actually he is classically trained (graduated in Bel Canto) and he was offered a place at the Astana opera house a year before his raise to fame in China. He declined wanting to explore a path with more variety in music styles. He sings in many different music styles including pop but he has the training, the voice and technique of an opera singer when chooses it.
@@sp72929 Dimash never got an offer to sing a role in an opera house. Just listen to his weak voice. It's impossible. He might had an offer to sing in the choir. Singing in a choir doesn't require more talent than a voice type, sing in tune and do no mistakes. Are you sure his offer wasn't a vacancy in the wardrobe.

Genetics. His parents are both singers. Mom sings opera. He's been trained since 5. So that's like 20 years of experience and dedication. He's still working to improve himself. Making his notes clearer, widening his range... He's inspirational

Dimash himself said that he is a normal tenor who just managed to extend his range. So I think we can be confident that he is definitely a tenor, since he said it himself 🙂
I think you would enjoy and appreciate Dimash more if you didn't stop so often. To hear it for the first time all chopped up loses the grandeur of the overall performance and his abilities. You have some good insights. Thanks.
I wish you wouldn’t interrupt The singing on a holding note to give your comments. While we obviously are on this site to watch you give your comments can you just wait until a note completes before you pause it. You’re interrupting some of the most beautiful parts of what he’s doing to give your opinion and it would only take you a couple more seconds to wait until the note is completed before you pause it at the right time

Have you listened to him singing Ogni Pietra or Passione? Or recently Ulisse? After that you will think again about his Voice being a very light Tenor ^^ Quite the Opposite, in recent Performances his Voice sounds remarkably low and full, Baritone territory, so he shows this side too besides his Super High Notes.
I agree. It's hard to classify Dimash because he has an immensely big vocal range (A1 - D8) with good tonal consistency and he's very good in imitating the tone of the voice type the songs he sings are meant for. He for example sings classical pieces for baritones with much more of a baritone tone than a tenor's. I really have problems classifying him, but if I had to guess I would probably say he's maybe a dramatic tenor or maybe a spinto. Most voice teachers say that they think that he's a tenor (which is sth I would basically agree with), but aren't absolutely sure and can't really tell his subtype, but some even say they think he's a baritone. I'd say let's wait another 5 years before we try to exactly classify him
@@Michael-kv5ff Hmm Dimash's lowest notes so far: G#1 in "Our Love" (but it was growled and only hit very briefly, which is why I don't count it in) A1 in "Love is Like a Dream" Bb1 in "Our Love" C#2 in "Our Love" D2s in "Love of Tired Swans" E2s im "Love of Tired Swans", "Our Love" and in an a cappella sample of "Unforgettable Day" F2 in "Confessa", some performances of "Diva Dance", in "Sinful Passion", on the Qazaqstan TV version of "Screaming" and in an a cappella sample on the Kazakh TV show Qiziq Times (when he was a teenager)
In the mentioned examples above, he doesn't go that low, the lowest note in the suggested performsnces is G2 in "Ulisse". (Love that performance btw 😊)

I understand that you are a pro and I think you did a really good job keeping it together, but come on dude, this is the kind of singer you meet once per generation! You are allowed to go bananas with your reaction to Dimash!! He's not just another very good singer! He is THE singer. An innovator, opening new paths and ideas for singing! He is one of the best vocalists alive right now!! :) This is not a rant! I really enjoyed your analysis, hopefully you will do more of Dimash. My personal recommendation is "Ogni Pietra" from Arnau concert. It's an anthemic operatic song, specifically written for Dimash's insane skill, where he displays his baritone and tenor quality better than in any other song and he shows a lot of maturity!! It's an astonishing performance and I honestly don't think there is currently any person alive who could cover that song the way Dimash does!

In *this* song it's not whistle - but Dimash has such incredible control over his instrument, he can actually produce the same notes both ways! A great example, is his whistle-tone D6 in the soprano-esque section of "Love Is Like A Dream", as performed at the Kremlin earlier this year - put them side by side, and the difference is clear! HOW he does it, is another question entirely... 😮❤🤗
@@yani1353 E7*. Although, whistling is a technique that can be used voluntarily in 5th and 6th octave as a sound resource, not something that is used when there is no other option, so arguing about it is quite silly.

I’ve read a few of the comments so far and they echo how I feel about Dimash. But let me warn you that if you continue to react to his videos/songs you will see your subscriptions rise exponentially. And you will eventually be shocked at the views for each of your reactions to Dimash. His dears or his fans love checking out vocal coach reactions and they immediately subscribe. This 25-year-old man is a musical genius. There are very few genres that he will not attempt at this time. i.e. I cannot imagine him trying a bluegrass song or even a country song. Dimash sings on the highest real sopranos, and not just falsetto, like most men. In a recent interview, he described how his teachers taught soprano singing from childhood. He has a classic vocal education. He once said there was a shortage of girls singing soprano in his school choir so they put him in to sing with them. Hey Matt Finally someone said it besides myself "GENETICS" both Parents are award winning Vocalists in their country.you can practice your whole life and not perform like Dimash. He can get rather tricky in picking out exactly what register he's using ha there's a lot of overlap where he can pick and choose which version of specific notes he wants to offer haha. I've always viewed it as if his songs are more like arranging a choral piece where you have to consider all the different voice types of your choir and where different solos will happen etc, except he's doing that just with one voice. There is of course a shed load of training and sheer love of music that goes into the kind of approach to singing he takes, it would have been much more straightforward to go for a single genre (be that opera specifically or a more contemporary genre) but with as much to offer in a single voice in both range and ability to switch between styles so cleanly (and clearly an enjoyment of singing more than just one style) it would've become so boring. I see it the same way as why I chose Geology to study. Yes I love physics and biology and chemistry and maths but I also love how they interplay in the environment and how they all developed alongside to give us modern day Earth, Geology meant I could study all of these individual sciences within the context of a planet, whereas Dimash's understanding of his own voice and music in general allows him to perform under the umbrella of Neo-classical with as many or as few techniques and octaves as he chooses for that particular piece. Random thought of the day ha. Also for me personally, although I only sing for my own happiness now, hearing someone who has mastered their voice even though it is across such a wide spectrum gave me some kind of comfort in a way. I always had a much lower voice than other girls in my teenage choirs or in other bands etc, so much so that my teacher ended up just putting me in with the tenors as there weren't enough of them to produce enough volume over the very big group of sopranos and handful of altos. I always felt out of place as even when I found famous female singers who could sing lower it was never -that- low and it was never something they used regularly it was only after you'd listened to their whole catalogue there would be like three notes in one song for example. But listening to Dimash who has traversed through the expected male voice, beyond even countertenor land and is just beautifully upfront with it, here's my voice and I'm going to use it to make music I'm not gonna hide it just because it's unexpected. It just made me feel my voice wasn't so strange and since then I've found a couple of female singers who do use their lower notes as a bigger part of their music which was cool! Sorry for the speech! Funnily enough Dimash is a natural baritone, though of course his range goes way beyond any typical "voice range test". His speaking voice puts him at baritone

'Only two lines in and this is a counter tenor', nope, this is Dimash, he transcends all qualifications. That was hilarious actually. Thinking you can qualify him from just a couple of lines. Wait till you watch some other videos of his. Also, and this isn't strictly aimed at you but what's the deal with a lot of (supposed) vocal coaches pausing the video every 5 seconds or so. It's annoying. Just watch the video, react to it, give your thoughts at the end. It's nice to know a little bit of what's going on but I don't need a pause every other second. I just want to see an honest and pure reaction. There's only so many times you can say 'now here he's lowering his larynx, he's great at connecting notes and nice fluid transition from mix to head voice' bla bla bla. Yeah ok, you know the lingo. Less is more, no need to overanalyse.

that's what happens when pausing during every second note and trying to analyze everything immediately instead of first doing a reaction video (as the title of the video suggests, with only very few pauses) and afterwards analyzing the most interesting parts. not every viewer is a possible student for you who needs/wants details on every note. if this one would have been the first reaction video i saw on Dimash, i probably would only have thought that he has exceĺlent technique, but not understood why someone could be fascinated by it.
if you guys just wanna watch the performance, then freaking find it.... He is just analysing so we know what the frik is going on, when he is in mix, head and so on

I think you would enjoy and appreciate Dimash more if you didn't stop so often. To hear it for the first time all chopped up loses the grandeur of the overall performance and his abilities. You have some good insights. Thanks.
I wish you wouldn’t interrupt The singing on a holding note to give your comments. While we obviously are on this site to watch you give your comments can you just wait until a note completes before you pause it. You’re interrupting some of the most beautiful parts of what he’s doing to give your opinion and it would only take you a couple more seconds to wait until the note is completed before you pause it at the right time

Have you listened to him singing Ogni Pietra or Passione? Or recently Ulisse? After that you will think again about his Voice being a very light Tenor ^^ Quite the Opposite, in recent Performances his Voice sounds remarkably low and full, Baritone territory, so he shows this side too besides his Super High Notes.
I agree. It's hard to classify Dimash because he has an immensely big vocal range (A1 - D8) with good tonal consistency and he's very good in imitating the tone of the voice type the songs he sings are meant for. He for example sings classical pieces for baritones with much more of a baritone tone than a tenor's. I really have problems classifying him, but if I had to guess I would probably say he's maybe a dramatic tenor or maybe a spinto. Most voice teachers say that they think that he's a tenor (which is sth I would basically agree with), but aren't absolutely sure and can't really tell his subtype, but some even say they think he's a baritone. I'd say let's wait another 5 years before we try to exactly classify him

This is not a rant! I really enjoyed your analysis, hopefully you will do more of Dimash. My personal recommendation is "Ogni Pietra" from Arnau concert. It's an anthemic operatic song, specifically written for Dimash's insane skill, where he displays his baritone and tenor quality better than in any other song and he shows a lot of maturity!! It's an astonishing performance and I honestly don't think there is currently any person alive who could cover that song the way Dimash does!

In *this* song it's not whistle - but Dimash has such incredible control over his instrument, he can actually produce the same notes both ways! A great example, is his whistle-tone D6 in the soprano-esque section of "Love Is Like A Dream", as performed at the Kremlin earlier this year - put them side by side, and the difference is clear! I’ve read a few of the comments so far and they echo how I feel about Dimash. But let me warn you that if you continue to react to his videos/songs you will see your subscriptions rise exponentially. And you will eventually be shocked at the views for each of your reactions to Dimash. His dears or his fans love checking out vocal coach reactions and they immediately subscribe. This 25-year-old man is a musical genius. There are very few genres that he will not attempt at this time. i.e. I cannot imagine him trying a bluegrass song or even a country song. But pop, opera, classical, Etc. are right up his alley. Currently he has sung in 12 different languages And speaks fluent Kazakh, Russian and getting better with his English. We will appreciate your technical criticisms or critiques in the future. With 19,000+ subscribers right now you are probably pretty busy teaching vocal lessons and reacting to various other artists. Dimash sings on the highest real sopranos, and not just falsetto, like most men. In a recent interview, he described how his teachers taught soprano singing from childhood. He has a classic vocal education. He once said there was a shortage of girls singing soprano in his school choir so they put him in to sing with them. He said it was ok as he got to meet lots of pretty girls.
There are several vocal teachers on UA-cam who, while reviewing Dimash’s performances, especially at Olimpico, have finally begun to use the correct terminology, which makes me happy.
Nature endowed him with unique ligaments, so he retained the ability to sing in a high key and after age-related changes in his voice. The gift of God and great work from childhood is Dimash.

He can get rather tricky in picking out exactly what register he's using ha there's a lot of overlap where he can pick and choose which version of specific notes he wants to offer haha. I've always viewed it as if his songs are more like arranging a choral piece where you have to consider all the different voice types of your choir and where different solos will happen etc, except he's doing that just with one voice.
There is of course a shed load of training and sheer love of music that goes into the kind of approach to singing he takes, it would have been much more straightforward to go for a single genre (be that opera specifically or a more contemporary genre) but with as much to offer in a single voice in both range and ability to switch between styles so cleanly (and clearly an enjoyment of singing more than just one style) it would've become so boring. I see it the same way as why I chose Geology to study. Yes I love physics and biology and chemistry and maths but I also love how they interplay in the environment and how they all developed alongside to give us modern day Earth, Geology meant I could study all of these individual sciences within the context of a planet, whereas Dimash's understanding of his own voice and music in general allows him to perform under the umbrella of Neo-classical with as many or as few techniques and octaves as he chooses for that particular piece.

Also for me personally, although I only sing for my own happiness now, hearing someone who has mastered their voice even though it is across such a wide spectrum gave me some kind of comfort in a way. I always had a much lower voice than other girls in my teenage choirs or in other bands etc, so much so that my teacher ended up just putting me in with the tenors as there weren't enough of them to produce enough volume over the very big group of sopranos and handful of altos. I always felt out of place as even when I found famous female singers who could sing lower it was never -that- low and it was never something they used regularly it was only after you'd listened to their whole catalogue there would be like three notes in one song for example. But listening to Dimash who has traversed through the expected male voice, beyond even countertenor land and is just beautifully upfront with it, here's my voice and I'm going to use it to make music I'm not gonna hide it just because it's unexpected. It just made me feel my voice wasn't so strange and since then I've found a couple of female singers who do use their lower notes as a bigger part of their music which was cool!

Он на примере исполнения Димаша, объяснял и показывал разные техники и приемы. А исполнение ему понравилось и кстати, он говорил, что он так исполнить не сможет. Учите английский что ли, чтобы понимать о чем говорят в видео 🤦🏼♀️

'Only two lines in and this is a counter tenor', nope, this is Dimash, he transcends all qualifications. That was hilarious actually. Thinking you can qualify him from just a couple of lines. Wait till you watch some other videos of his.
Also, and this isn't strictly aimed at you but what's the deal with a lot of (supposed) vocal coaches pausing the video every 5 seconds or so. It's annoying. Just watch the video, react to it, give your thoughts at the end. It's nice to know a little bit of what's going on but I don't need a pause every other second. I just want to see an honest and pure reaction. There's only so many times you can say 'now here he's lowering his larynx, he's great at connecting notes and nice fluid transition from mix to head voice' bla bla bla. Yeah ok, you know the lingo. Less is more, no need to overanalyse.

@@homersimpson3385 и всё-таки,самолюбование у него преобладало над умением слушать. Холодный анализ, к тому же попытка что-то повторить за ДИМАШЕМ,но у него это как-то смешно получалось. Плюс непопадание в ноты. Может он и сказал несколько слов восхищения ДИМАШЕМ,но это потерялось в его манере постоянно через каждую секунду прерывать пение ДИМАША. Лучше бы он молчал и слушал!!! За его реакцию дизлайк!

that's what happens when pausing during every second note and trying to analyze everything immediately instead of first doing a reaction video (as the title of the video suggests, with only very few pauses) and afterwards analyzing the most interesting parts. not every viewer is a possible student for you who needs/wants details on every note. if this one would have been the first reaction video i saw on Dimash, i probably would only have thought that he has exceĺlent technique, but not understood why someone could be fascinated by it.
