I wish I wasn't so hung up on the name - I pronounce it "svarti-dowdy" and it sounds so ridiculous to me that I can't take anything about the music seriously! Ohhhh, it's so scary, watch out for svarti-dowdy! Don't get me wrong though, I think this is a great album!!
the icelandic d is pronounced like the english "th" in "the" for example so something like svartidaussi. That being said, there are a lot of bands with somewhat funny names, but you should judge by the music, not by the name. slugdge comes to mind.
Of course you think it's silly if you're pronouncing it in a silly way. Hopefully you'll change your mind when you start pronouncing it correctly.

@@dagurgisla Sounds like "Svartidöithi". Sounds even more funny than "Svartidowdy". (the ö is german. go to google translator and listen to how the german word "Öl" for example sounds like.) I´m not judging by the name. First, i discovered the (great) music. Later i began to be interested in the pronounciation of the name. Let´s be open mindet to a little sense of humor! Barron Keith said the album is great. But thank you for the link. Learning a few words of iceland cannot be wrong.
