I am a Mechanical passed out graduate in 2016 and recently decided to shift to the IT industry due to the lack of opportunities in the mechanical sector. Don't opt for Mechanical if you still have the chance. Jobs in these sector are more or less nil. Also the growth is stagnant. After 5 years you will feel depressed when you will see your friends from tech domains earning to 3.5-4x times of your salary. I also had opted for mechanical out of sheer passion for physics and mathematics and good at academics. Still after 6 years I feel left out. I had also had proper skills and a very good final year project. Still couldn't achieve anything yet. Toppers from from batch(mechanical) are jobless, while friends who were in the Cse or ece domains are having a high paying salary despite of being an average student. So this is the current scenario of mechanical in India. The rest depends on you, it's your life its your decision. I can only advise you so that you don't follow the wrong path full of hurdles and unemployment which I did. All the best wishes to you. :) P.S- I have worked in big companies but they were not aligned with mechanical.
