This is what anyone who knows nothing about chess wants to do.
Touché
I've played chess since I was young and still want to play this way!
foff
Like me
I was trying to teach someone how to play once, and in the early game, she got frustrated and snatched my king from across the board and declared a victory.
Lol, the check at the end being worth only $7 was a pretty good touch to wrap things up xD
looooooooooool
Honestly it was the only accurate thing of the whole video. Bad funding.
Just wait till they find out how much the prize pool for the last world chess championship actually was.
It was 2 million pounds, or ~2.4 million dollars, split 60/40 between winner and loser.
@@tiskbubbles4688 why did they split it like that lmao
The boards alone are worth more 😂
*I have been playing chess for over 40 years, and I have to say this is some of the most exciting chess I've seen in years!*
Wow, that’s a bold statement!
I just did the math and darn its been about that long for me too. Not sure its something I'll consider sharing with anyone though lol.
thank u for being normal ...
But what about the time Hikaru and Magnus played a double bongcloud and drew the game?
@@person_on_the_internet *How did I miss that one?* *I must have been out of the country that day.*
it bugged me that the legal moves were being commentated as going to a completely different square. XD
Also the black knight on the A file kept changing from a5 to a4 depending on the camera angle
For real! @Studio C, just look at the coordinates lol
Still great comedy though, it's very small details
Fr 😂
@@beep3639 its actually @ StudioCtv
That's the part that bothered you?
0:24 “knight to b6” told me everything I should expect as far as chess accuracy well before it fell apart 😂
And then white puts the bishop undefended for the knight to take.
I mean this was a *great* game, hands down, but I kinda felt sorry for the guy on the board tracking the moves. At some point I think he was running out of tanks.
Personally, for me this was the best sketch of the last two seasons.
This is definitely one of the very best!
Nope.. the baseball code language skit remains on top for last 2 seasons
Agree
@@JanAdiputra Notice the words "Personally, for me" in my comment? You do know that people can have different opinions, right?
@@hebl47 touché
The extras in this skit were genuinely phenomenal. Really helped bring this hilarious sketch home
Yeah, the pawns really stayed in character. Bravo. 👏
They really were great
As a chess player and chess fan, this is hard to watch, but I can say chess actually gets to be the most exciting sport ever.
Totally agree
Yeah it can be very interesting if you actually know how to play the game well and it’s sad that many people don’t give it a chance
I completely agree! I loved the Sicilian defense reference though. 😂
Yeah, I was noticing the placement of the pieces said wasn't actually where they were putting the pieces...
@@duckmaster5512 can you post a link to both of these?
Plot twist: austin and jason didnt know how to play so they just made it up as they went a long and everyone else just went with it (hence why arvin was confused)
Well, they certainly weren't following the rules I learned.
It’s so awesome that Jason’s back and I’m excited to see what more he will do in Studio C!
It's jason, but yeah it's good to see him on screen again.
Thank you for letting me know!
JASON GRAY IKK
She goes knight to b6
Knight clearly on the center of the board
I flew to the comments when I saw
I love Arvin’s confused faces. 😄
He really makes great faces. All the cast members have their unique talents. I love watching them!
Neither of them would stand a chance against third grader Angela Hartforth
"he just bought a sword fight by talking about his feelings"
The "Calvinball" version of chess. 😅👏 Well written & acted.
As someone who once played a part in Chess: The Musical, I can confirm that this is completely accurate.
Wow! Now THAT makes me want to donate to my local chess radio station! I mean wow!
This is even better than netflix's *QUEEN'S GAMBIT*.
@Abdullah Kamal Definitely is; though I play chess infrequently and found it amusing at the very least.
@Abdullah KamalSame. I made it to episode three and then skipped to the end because I nearly fell asleep. It's overhyped.
As a chess player, I have to admit that chess is much more fun to play than to watch. I can certainly understand why the average person would not want to watch a real tournament game. Maybe FIDE should watch this to find ideas on how to make chess more attractive to watch.
i’m not good at chess but i like it! this is literally me trying to find ways to outsmart my opponents
0:37
That's a tactical transition of power
Brilliant tac tac moves !! 👑 👑
"Civilization Chess" -- As a former competitive chess player and fan of all Sid Meier's Civilization iterations, I absolutely loved this skit!!!
This is some high quality ESPN8: The Ocho content right here.
This belongs on the nueve
This made my day. Chess is my favorite musical and I’ve been obsessed with it for over a year. I tried to see if Studio C had made any chess sketches and there was only one before.
I’m glad you liked it!!
Austin's "wourder" at the end...😂 *chef's kiss*
I initially thought that this would be a sketch about one player actually knowing how to play the game and being forced to go along with whatever bullshit the opposite side came up with, but this was way better.
The game of Civilization pre-electricity.
This has to be a movie! It's seriously a good story! There's true potential here! Kudos to the story-writer!
My older brother, a literal genius, created several chess variations... none quite like these, though!
My my, this one was was amazing 😂 love all the work you're putting in all these sketches, guys! You are doing a wonderful job ^^
The grand prize was surely mind blowing. They must have new sponsors with a budget that big.
the monetary prize being 7$ is just too accurate 😭
I wish everyone played by these rules
Well this chess tournament clearly missing coughing which is the most authentic components.
This is insane! To be fair though I do love chess and this is just awesome to watch! Love the video, keep up the great work! 👍
Hilarious!
😂😂😂 that was epic... Jason your facial expressions are on other level... 👏👏🏼👏👏🏼
Oh my goodness so action packed I don’t even know what is happening
Almost a Michael Bay movie...
Most accurate to life chess game ever.
Love it. I never have gotten so hook into watching chess till now. another awesome sport commentaries i have seen and enjoyed so far, since the fencing one.
Absolutely legendary skit
Nice sketch it had me on the edge of my seat
Reminiscent of a Calvin and Hobbes board game.
Calvinball!
The tank and peace protests got me I'm dying lol
The check cost more than the $7 it pays out. 🤣
Truly amazing 👏🏻 Good game and great video!
‘… Iowa’s only source for unbiased chess coverage.’ 🤣😆🤣 Who comes up with this stuff?! Comedy Gold.
One of the best sketches in a while!
I suddenly love chess now! This was epic!
I love how he only won 7 dollars lol
"Strong choice"
The Long Island joke was the funniest part of the video.
After all that he won a grand prize of 7 dollars! 🥳
I was hoping that somebody would recognize this was like queens gambit.
This is one of their best sketches yet!
Great game! Will definitely share this with my friends in the bar and the library
Now I want to learn how to play THIS version of chess!
From the " I was only unbiased source for chess tournament coverage " to the $7 winners check, a kick booty sketch.
Okay, but imagine if Chess Anarchy became an actual championship.
I’m loving all the Jason in these videos
Love the guy in the back sleeping. That was masterful. I love all the details you put into each scene.
(Except for not knowing the actual space names of the board.)
That guy was actually sleeping! Now that's commitment to your craft
From Sultans to warlords to the gymnasium. This truly is a battle of minds
It’s so nice to have Jason back
Jason is as always awesome
Yay for Jason being back!!!
I once played giant chess this is accurate of what i did
The guy sleeping killed it for me 😂👌🏻
That was brilliant guys!
This is the best one in awhile, so original!
😂 😂 first sketch in a long while that had me laughing.
"Sharing with all of your friends on social media." Because of course this was the next thing I was going to do, lol :)
What an amazing gambit
wow, best studio c vid in a looong time lol
1:43 I love how Arvin's confused what to do with the board.
Man the abdication play was genius
You guys should do a Men In Black parody. Seriously.
Yeah of the original one!
I love that the prize is $7.00!
Wow, went through the ages. Minus the recessions thankfully.
I don't know man but Jason makes every sketches better.
not what i was expecting but great
This needs to be made into a cohesive game. It's brilliant.
This was brilliant
The whole sketch was funny(!), but given that I just moved to New Jersey, the "can I get some wooder?" part got an out loud laugh. Cause you know, wooder comes from the woods. 🤣
Where the heck has this channel been all my life?
The Sicilian refusal 🤣🤣🤣
This is what I needed
The subtly of his move at 2:40 and her reaction is the best part.
1:52 the pawns gambit 😂😂😂
The slights to other sports are amazing XD
Congratulations on winning $7!
Funniest part of the sketch!
Reminds me when I'm playing Chess with my Grandpa as a kid.
Grandpa : Why did you move your pawn 5 steps ahead?
Me : It's because I'm healthy and I'm faster than any other kids!
Grandpa : Then why did grandpa can only move 1 step per turn?
Me : It's because grandpa is old, so grandpa can't move well now.
Actually loved it!!;
this was hilarious xD
The Cold War, simplified
This was so creative 😂
“But it look like the tower from Tangled”😭
Those are some next level strats.
I think this is the kind of chess that should be played!
Lol that knight move at the start is insane, her knight and rook are both hanging so she attacks the Bishop that is attacking them (And you'd take the hanging Knight with check no less!)
Wow, that got intense
Bro that check ain’t even enough to cover the $10 registration fee!!
