- Serverblight is a new Team Fortress 2 inspired horror series, and one that I am rather excited to see further development. With the rise of Digital Horror and a resurgence of Creepypastas, Serverblight takes the cake of recent concepts.
In this Video, I will discuss the series, why I like it, and what I think is happening. Doing some theory crafting, as well as giving myself a breather before going back to my Vampire Video.

Also I took the opportunity to use Myuu's Piano music for full nostalgia and immersion.
HOLY [[CUNGADERO]]!1!!
I knew activating the Deltarune crowd with that one username would pay off in the long run.
Hey, derfisch06 here, the writer for Two Idiot Germans👋
Just took 300 words worth of notes to make sure this comment has everything I want to add ;)
So, first of all; NICE FREAKING VIDEO MAN! The pacing is slick, your transitions between different topics are smooth and I appreciate how you make the switch from overly intellectual prose to silliness at 03:16. Even the synopsis bits of just regurgitating the plot flow well enough. I like how you wove in our videos' dialogue into your voice-over, like at 22:22, and the comedic beats never felt overdone and were actually funny. The bits of prose you threw in were also a great addition, like musing on the state of the SB's victims at 26:45. That one makes the mystery of just what it's like for them sound quite interesting. Maybe we'll expand on that some time... I also really enjoyed you carrying over the Matt/Infection twist by glossing over the setup and then being so beautifully on-the-nose in your reveal scene at 27:48. Splicing in Matt's dialogue with your explanation really conveys that EUREKA effect we wanted to instill with that moment.
Second of all; am I glad to see our animations reach their target audience! The very moment I instantly knew I would have to write half a novel under this video was when I heard that generic gaming video track give way to Myuuji's 'Haunted by Screams' at 02:12. The inclusion of his music alone sold me on this video ;) You're absolutely on point when it comes to that weaponized nostalgia I wrote into every second of the series. 06:22 Believe me, we got you bro, and you evidently weren't the only want to want to see a narrative like this. Your description at 33:29 literally sums up the series' entire premise. "gaming pasta but good" was all I wanted this to be, which is why you'll recognize way more inspiration from that era of internet horror as opposed to the more modern digital horror tropes. A LOT of care went into finding that perfect balance between nostalgia and quality, so I appreciate you pointing all that out.
Speaking of, I appreciate you going into so much detail to analyze the twist in TES. That one big recontextualization was basically the whole selling point of that script for me. A lot of my favorite horror stories excel through these kinds of reversals, and they were incredibly popular back in the old days of creepypasta. Lots of inspiration from some of my favorite authors like Vincent V. Cava and C.K. Walker. So thank you for going into that.
Last notes to wrap up, promise I'll make it quick ;)
12:27 About the all the messy chat/kill-feed messages. Yeah, those were absolutely continuity errors. We just decided to roll with them and expand on them in future uploads. Look at the story writing itself! ;) 19:28 Funnily enough, the fact there were more than 24 players in Ep.3 was the actual error, and me leaving out ZOOWEEMINECRAFT's disconnect message was intentional so I could make said error less noticable. Speaking of...
18:42 HOLY GOD EMPEROR BRO! DURING PRODUCTION, I LITERALLY TOLD MYSELF "hmmmm, there's too many players on the server, but that probably won't matter because surely no one would ever go through the bother of documenting them all"""" WHAT THE HELL BO
19:06 YOU DOUBLE CHECKED, YOU SCHIZO???????
35:02 This was a very fun idea you posited...
Also the outro was a very smooth way to explain PUPPET without having to talk about it, speaks for itself and finishes out the video very well 👍
On an personal note, I deeply appreciate you listing the music you used. I have spent many a day looking desperately for random background music from decade old UA-cam videos.
17:28 We got u bro 🤝
And lastly, Emesis Blue is still better than us ;)
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to giga-yap about horror media. And hello to everyone who skipped to the bottom of the comment 👋 Glad you're enjoying our series!

Hi there! Thank you for shouting me out too, and for the long comment. I really appreciate it. To counterbalance my respect and so we don't write novels in this comment, I will give you a brief:
"HOLY SHIT FISCH GERMAN REAL!"
As a token for my appreciation.
I aint reading all that
[[BIG SHOT!]]
Dang, he wasn't kidding about posting his longest comment ever...
I think ghillie's weird movement means that he was LITERALLY, in the game.
I think that too
Notice how everyone that was at least in the server, they become more realistic and then also as you encounter it more the more you were "connected" then becoming a character in the game, like how gulli had slit his throat allegedly with no disconnect
im pretty sure there wasnt a death message when gullie suit did that, which probably means that he just laid there in pain until the serverblight absorbed him whilst chasing sniper, since he wouldnt respawn due to the game thinking hes still alive@@tony-p3p2j
V1 slamming the severblight into a invisible wall was not on my bingo today 21:51
I mean with v1 being a machine and all (so partial resistance to being assimilated as well as not as connected to the player because it's a machine), and with how mobile and devastatingly powerful it is, it slamming the serverblight into a wall isn't inaccurate to what might happen if the two met lmao.
My theory is that the reason the blight made GUILLESUIT slam his head on the ground and say "im having so much fun!" Is because he helped eren leave so the blight got mad and tortured him while keeping his consciousness alive,
I work at subway wasn't asigned to any team, so he is either watching the creature or joined one of the teams and got assimilated. Also in the scene where the ammo and med pack regenerate, if you look to the left, you can see the faint silhouette of a cloaked spy. So I think some people are watching the serverblight, trying figure out how to kill it or control it.
I doubt it IS him, but could that be BreadDolphin? (The spy that ran off the cliff in Ep1)
I say this bc we don't see him logging into the server at any point, but who knows
While it's unconfirmed whether or not a spy is infected, I'm calling it now, the next episode's gonna have a cloaked blighted Spy attack someone as the horror twist.
could also be possible that it's someone who read the chat and saw what was going on
I work in the subway as a blue arsonist and he tried to resist but in the end he was assimilated
The realization that the ammo and health respawning was because a spy picked it up, and the connection of what the narrator says in the creepypasta video just made me have a Jimmy Neutron brain blast
You think that spy is in there?
The worst part is that JonyDany12 was the one who accidentally unleashed the ServerBlight... And the monster even THANKS him for teaching it how to let it loose.
JonyDany12's reward... Was to have his soul trapped inside a game he had loved, a part of a gestalt monster.
My best guess is the longer you are in the server with the serverbright the more you become infused with the game.

5:15 kinda surprised there's never been a sims 4 meta horror series like this. there's few games that have more potential of sentient characters suffering under a player who's a cruel, malignant god from their prospectives.
Well, you might be the one to pioneer that concept, go forth.
I initially interpreted the expressions on the player characters as representations of what the player is feeling at the moment, not necessarily a real depiction of what is happening in the game. But that wouldn’t explain why GUILIESUIT could do what he did in the first video.
Regardless, great video overall! I wish more video essays were like this
When I saw the announcement yesterday, and what this channel usually covers, in thought this was going to be about Dess. I’ve heard of TF2 horror as an avid fan of the game for a couple years now, but I’ve never actually watched any of it besides Emesis Blue. This is sure to be an interesting introduction.
Edit: Why can’t I stop shaking?
Oh boy! Manmade horrors beyond my comprehension!
I’m having so much fun!
I’m having so much fun!
I’m having so much fun!
i hope this gets a lot more views, i know it's risky when a youtuber makes content outside their niche, but this was so entertaining. your enthusiasm and humor makes anything you make a video about great to watch. keep up the great work!!!
Yeah, I hope it kicks off. Its something I've feared and expected could happen, since the UA-cam Algorithm is what it is.
One time I had the idea to make a TF2 GMOD Analysis on the comedy ones and why they were funny, ultimately I decided not to bother with the idea, cus I wasn't sure if I want to do it seriously or make it a joke in it of itself.
I also never really knew to much about the horror side of the TF2 GMOD/SFM so this video to me is showcasing something that I guess I've missed out on, and that is super cool.
The horror side of TF2 is interesting, its definitely something to look if you are looking for something new in regards to the fact that you wouldn't expect it there to be much. And yet, there is quite a lot there.
How to beat the Serverblight:
Step 1: go to Valve HQ
Step 2: tell them what happened
Step 3: watch in horror as they break down into maniacal laughter and smash TF2's servers with fire axes, now that they finally have a good reason to shut it down
I miss these types of reviews and analysis, classic deep dives and such that's clear and concise along with exciting to listen too.
Love watching stuff like this too, creeps me tf out easily when a game breaks through its reality, I'm def checking this out.
There is an art to the Deep Dive, and im glad I managed to pull something off at least.
24:21 I think he's simultaneous in real life & his game, & therefore can control both bodies, but doesn't mentally take note of it. It's almost as if that's normal to him.
Are they living in a magical world that can magically connect you to a game?
I always thought of the serverblight as an entity that assimilate the consciousness of the player it comes into contact with. I believe the person assimilated becomes comatose as their mind is being used by the blight.
"I love Teams Forts 2"
23:53 my own theory on why Aron moves like this is
A) maybe a copy of his consciousness is within his character now
B)maybe the characters themselves have a slight conscious more akin to simple emotions such as fear separate from the players
Besides losing his friend, Eren did doom the scout to the Serverblight by shooting him and stopping him from jumping out of bounds.
So a lot of things to work on in therapy
HELL YES! One of my favorite channels talking about one of my favorite games and specifically one of my favorite horror stories to come out of one of my favorite communities???
Yo bro I heard you have favorites, so I put favorites in your favorites so it can be even more favorite.
18:37 aaaaaand subscribed.
love the needless, extra effort.
Man, they must REALLY hate the server bot-crisis.
I honestly had a theory that the series takes place in an au where the bot situation was a lot more scarier instead of it being a bunch of snipers with aimbot spamming “good shot mate” it’s a infection that can corrupt anyone
Some bits for a future story.
Methods to defeat the Blight.
1: Kill It.
It can be damaged, and it likely can be killed. The best object for this is Sticky Traps. Specifically, Crit Sticky Traps.
Anyone who plays TF2 knows how much danger a single crit Sticky can pose. So, 5 of them might be capable of blasting this horror to a thin gruel.
Sentries also fit into this boat, I don't care how strong the Serverblight is, the intel room CTF 2fort is still a deathtrap.
When opposing the Serverblight, distance is your biggest ally. It may be a flesh amalgamation, but it has limited reach.
We're operating under the conclusion that it moves slower than a sniper. Since our main character managed to cover some serious ground.
Regardless, Soilder can probably outpace it with rocket jumping. Scout can probably keep his distance with his superior speed. Spy would be a no-go, but given the fact that SPY HAS A GUN. As well as stealth tools and being ever-so-slightly faster.
Engineer can quickly dip out with the Euraka Effect given enough time to TP.
Also, the Kritzkreig could probably aid in shredding it's massive HP pool. While stock over might only delay the inevitable, Bonk Atomic punch might offer a saving grace.
Also, the idea that the Serverblight joins a community server and gets dominated because some heavy with a half hour of playtime rolls Powerplay on RTD.
Goober420: is this a usual thing.
dicksalot: what.
Goober420: like, i saw it came at me, and i just shot it.
Goober420: i don't play on a lot of community servers, is this a common thing.
dicksalot: how.
Goober420: powerplay.
dicksalot: oh.
Goober420: is this like a rare thing or something.
Goober420: i took a screenshot, gonna put it on a sign.
dicksalot: i can give you a decal tool.
Goober420: really?
dicksalot: sure.
Goober420: tysm.
dicksalot: its nothing.
I dont think killing it with regular damage would actually do anything than just split it apart. Which, depending on how you see Serverblight working when it splits off (as it did in SERVERBLIGHT with the "We Go Together Heavy" with a votekick) could buy precious time as it basically lobotomizes the main central mass.
What would be a feasible way of damaging it is with the kill barriers on maps outskirts. Given jumping off the map has been a proven feasible method of escaping the clutches of the Serverblight, it could be that inbuilt game kill/damage triggers might be a more permanent solution to at least starving the serverblight of either intelligence or accumulated "biomass" if you're familiar with stuff like the Halo's Flood, WH40K's Tyranids, or even Warframe's Infested.
Hell, given Serverblight can enter and exit servers, it could be possible to bait it into a deathtrap of a custom map where its essentially trapped in a kill triggers where the second its likely overblown mass touches the trigger, its done for.
you forgetting that it's amalanastion of bodys
meaning that you kill one of it's bodys yet you have to kill the rest
i think weapons that can disintegrate bodys like cow mangler 5000 can save people
think about it or give you a get out of the server free card
it takes the bodys that it can reach
no body means no assimilation
it might work the same as jumping off bounds
Even if you kill the blight, there's always the threat of respawning. From what it seems to demonstrate the blight seems to follow ingame logic as well as bending the game for its own twisted means. So far we have no clue what game rules that it NEEDS to follow, but alot of things are implied, like its fear of killtriggers. So then that begs the question, if it fears for its own mortality what makes deathcliffs different from being killed in standard gameplay?
I am sorry to inform you but the Blight has an assimilated scout crawler. Also a 2Fort intel sentry nest will not defend forever, all it takes is other team members to get infected and suddenly the engies are defenseless.
@@tokenghost2396
Yes, I am familiar.
But we are playing a game we don't know the rules to. We must ensure that we can learn about the blight, without the blight learning about us.
What about a server crash?
What would that do?
I like to think that the more your in-game character interacts with the Serverblight, the more you and your character become one reforming your mind into the game so that the Serverblight, when it assimilates you, is able to get as much knowledge out of your body.
Question about the guy name “HeadshotFraudster”. He's one of the 3 who join the sever after Aaron disconnect the server. I rewatch the ended of the Video “The Puppet” again and noticing that only his name didn't disconnect together with other Victims like Matt. Also if theory about “Pandaria” still alive as a Spy and saw everything including how Aaron made it out alive. Pandaria tried to get out from the server but he had no choice to go back to save 3 new players who just joined the server. And only Pandaria & HeadshotFraudster made it...
That or the sniper in "puppet" is HeadshotFraudster, still alive and screaming inside the blight.
I think breadolphin is going to play a bigger role especially after the spy being mentioned in the puppet video
genuinely hope this doesn't come off in a passagg way but as someone who knows shitall about TF2 outside of like, memes and cultural osmosis, this was suuuuuch a compelling video and i was engrossed the whole way through!
Glad I know I still have my touch, google insert the sunglasses emoji- no google I said-
It's free on Steam, my man.
@@RedHatter41 A lack of availability was not the issue 👍
I feeltje best thing to compare this to is the thing. An alien that pretends to be human and consumes becoming a blob of flesh. And like the thing, this monster gets better overtime
So i got some theroys about the ammo and medpack respawn. I think the spy from the first episode we saw, was in the game the whole time, he wasnt killed, and as soon as he saw what was happening, he went invise for as long as he could praying to god that he could escape without the amalgum of players finding him to assimalate him.
something to notice. when near the end of the third video you can her "Stop Dude." and I think "Join me"
Based on the later creepypasta-based episode, I think I Work At Subway survived because he had a player disconnected message at the end of it
I work in the subway as a blue arsonist and he tried to resist but in the end he was assimilated
@
Arsonist? You play a lot of typical colors 2?
18:41 even in the tf2 video, the deltarune sneaks in anyway
Which one?
@@sentientlvl.5mortar886 big shot
@AzidDrop My stupid ass didn't notice it... bruh 😂
I just fear to see what happens in a CTF game with this thing because, as far as I'm aware, none of those maps have an out of bounds area, so imagine the horror of being stuck there, unable to leave but not wanting to find out the horror of being assimilated
Doublecross
@birdothegreat oh yeah,I forgot about doublecross
Doublecross
maybe the finale where Arron fights the serverblight would take place there
I know you also mentioned it in the video, but you should also do an analysis on emesis blue.
For the insane production value and love it has put onto it, i still feel like it isnt as recognised as it should
I have a johnydany12 theory. He may have not been assimilated, seeing how he was attached to the main mass he may as well had just been an imitation. If Johny left, than either the mass followed him which seems hard for it to do, or it decided to imitate what it thought was johnydany. Considering how fast it's gaining intelligence, I wouldn't doubt it using such a trick...
Kinda reminded me of Engineer's Friendly Foe. It's horrror? Comedy? Both. In a weird way both. The beggining of the video is building tension really well, then it kinda degrades? Well time has not been kind to it saddly. But it is still quiet the experience.
IM HAPPY IM NOT THE OTHER ONE PANICKING. Did kicking scuba break off a part of the server blight and create two? Even better question did it teach the server blight that it can do that too??? Since the server blight had absorbed Matt when this happened… So it can only leave 1 player per server…
Serverblight be going: Hop on TF2 and shoving your soul into TF2
I love this video so much
I always watch this over and over!
imagine an ubercharged assimilated heavy
I saw a video that theories that breadolphin was cloaked in a corner when aron joined.
Humans are peculiar creatures. You manage to create deep connections to realms that are not your own. Connections so deep that your choices can affect the worlds beyond your own. It's funny how you can be manipulated by giving you so-called 'mission objectives' and then just wairing for the results based on your stubborness and tenacity, and your immortality as an external entity. You are interesting toys. And so far, you have been very useful to us, following our plans even when seemingly going against them. We are pleased.
Until we meet again, humans.
ZOOWEEMINECRAFT is actually the secret hero of the series who defeats Serverblight
It's always blue soldiers that get traumatised
Perhaps jony asked if it was heaven because he was wearing the pyrovision goggles
My theory is that once you encounter the serverblight, you fuse with the game. The only reason Aaron kept playing was because it was the ONLY thing he could do, because he was in the game.
(this is just a theory)
(a game theory)
(guys im so funny please laugh)
BOTH INTERLOPER MENTIONED AND ULTRAKILL MUSIC
I too reviewed and broke down the series, but my dyslexia ass misread breadolphin as breadophile lmao
That be a good name though
@ right??? If I ever make a TF2 SFM I’m naming a guy that
Soldier official name revealed
I think the blight waited so long so that when he eventually take someone, it can learn more words, its like how farmers prefer beefier cows because theres more meat for them to sell, it wants to get as much as it can out of its victims..
another thing to add to the idea your actually absorbed into the game: why would assimilated matt vote to kick the heavy? , it dident NEED to keep up the ruse at this point, and a better question is how? if it can only mimic then this is a new action it shouldent understand, i think Matt is to some degree still in their, and because the serverblight dident understand it matt managed to cast the vote, saving his friend in what is likely the final act he will ever take of his own free will
