Love the wooden rings! Thank you for sharing your ideas and talents!
Thank you!
And you're welcome 😊
I've been turning opal inlayed metal rings on my wood lathe for about a year but have never wanted to bother with turning wooden rings because my methods would be too rough on wood and the overhead for lathe accessories that'd make it possible are a little out of my price range. Your method of coiling veneer never occurred to me and opened up so many awesome possibilities! Thanks for the awesome tutorial and ideas! The end product was absolutely stunning too!
I'm glad I helped
This method is better in so many ways compared to rings from a solid block of wood.
I've been making wooden rings for 3 years now but new to creating videos
How do you inlay opal? My gf loves opal
@Less Than A Home yes I have wooden ring with opal inlays on my shop

Hey Matthew, thanks a lot for the instruction! Looks like you really brought that process to perfection.
What tool (chisel) do you use to flaten the ring?
Wow so Amazing !!
Thanks!!
Good job! 👍
I've also made a few rings, mainly from eucalyptus wood.😊
Thanks
Thats a lovely wood, I use that for some of my rings too
What a craftmanship! Congratulations!
Thank you!
I will be making tons of these and using old guitar strings for the inlay. Thank you for such an inspiring video.
Guitar string is a great looking ring inlay, happy to help, good luck with them!
Is beautiful
Thank you 😊
Great video! I made my wife and I our own wedding rings but was looking at making a new set. I didn't finish with CA glue or polishing compound. Do you recommend certain ones?
Davvero bravo
Thank you
Ficou muito bonito! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! 😊
👍👍
😊
Ficou lindo esses anéis, pode me falar o nome desses produtos que você usar por favor
Thank you
Which product would you like to know?
Most are linked below
It's very nice. What is this coated with?
Thank you
I use Everbuild superglue with an activator spray
Hi, how thick is the veneer you start with ? Amazing video I'm really inspired
0.6mm veneer
Thank you
@@MatthewFlowerDesign thank you
Thats a very nice looking ring you made, what did you use as polish at the end?
Thank you
I use "Glass polish" a plastic & acrylic polishing compound
@@MatthewFlowerDesign Looks great!
@@boopadoopie9897 Thank you, I've been making and selling them full time for a few years now but this is my 1st video tutorial, planning to make more, hopefully a bit better quality
Very cool, but I don’t know about that super glue finish; a nice oil or wax finish would look better and be safer for skin contact.
Hi, really nice ring. How thick is the wire you used? And what glue did you use to glue the vinyl? Thanks a lot for the video. Cheers from Austria 🇦🇹
Thank you
I use 0.8mm for wide rings and 0.5mm for slim rings
And I use CA superglue for glueing it together and as a finish
@@MatthewFlowerDesign Hey! just wondering how you source your wire? I've been trying to get 0.5mm square gold wire and find it to be pretty difficult to get this smaller size. I've also looked at rolling mills but none seem to go less than 1mm. The rings look great btw!! Thanks for the video
Thật tuyệt vời
Thank you 😊
What superglue do you use?
Hola. Dónde se consigue esa madera?. Gracias
Thanks so much for sharing your skills.
May i ask what Kind of glue and activator spray you used?
Happy to help 😊
Everbuild CA superglue and activator
What was the tool that you used to trim the sides? It looked like a caliper but what kind?
They are woodworking spring calipers, but I can't remember where I got them from sorry
I have found the calipers I used and I have linked them in the description under affiliate links - Dividers
Hi!! what lathe do you use? may be proxxon?
Yes, it is a proxxon
Красиво! Какой это материал? Дерево? Шпон? Спасибо)
Thank you
It's made from rosewood veneer and copper
Dude, at 2.03, whats that tool you're using? Thanks
Not actually a tool it's just wire that I cut to a chissle like tip to carve
S a l o m o n sliman larach good dezayner 11 ,10
Sorry I don't understand
what wood did you used
I used rosewood for this example
I'm really urging fellow wood turners to stop using CA glue as a finish. It's designed as an adhesive. Start using brush-on lacquer. Four coats of lacquer, which is a finish, has the same thickness as ten coats of CA.
For ring making, I've only ever heard of people using either CA or resin as they are such hard hearing products
I will give lacquer a go as I'm interested to see how it compares
I would be interested to know if there is an alternative to CA glue for gluing the rings.
Cool buddy, how long does each of those coats of lacquer take to dry?
@@markustiemann6748I've done a similar method as I didn't have any CA glue on hand at the time and I used traditional wood glue which worked aswell
What size wire is the two inlays?
I use 0.5mm for slim rings and 0.8mm wire for wider rings
Thank you so much
Man the sand paper doesn't make machine noises dang
Just noisy dust extraction
How much ?
