  • New song - my first solo project in a long time and an ode to video game music for the wealth of inspiration it's been to me over the years.
    The song was also entered into the 2016 Guitar Idol competition and placed me in the live final out of over 600 contestants. Thanks for all those who voted!

      Thanks for coming back and the kind words! Dylan is an old friend and he made me that guitar in the early days of Daemoness. I got it in 2013 and haven't bought a guitar since! - I certainly didn't pay that for it but I appreciate that they are worth that amount, amazing guitars!

    • @andygillion
      @andygillion  7 років тому +2

      Honestly, I came off the last tour saying Austria was my favourite country - such lovely people!! Everyone is so nice :) Thanks man, I used Cubase 7.5 to record this track and an Axe FX 2 for the guitar tone, although that's more hardware than software really.

    • @ESA1996
      @ESA1996 6 років тому

      Do you use the Axe FX 2 for all your UA-cam videos (Mainly thinking of the MPE Studio Diaries)? They sound ridiculously good to be home recordings is why I'm asking. Also, what are the drums done with? I imagine you play the bass track yourself.

    This is amazing! By the way im pretty new to guitar playing and i wonder what would you suggest between alternate picking and economy picking? i heard that alternate picking is better for keeping the rythm but economy is faster so im not sure what i should do.

    • @andygillion
      @andygillion  7 років тому +2

      Hey dude, honestly you need both. It's not absolutely essential, but there are times when I use both techniques and it just comes naturally. I would suggest working hard on the alternate picking and build up that technique and almost always use that, until you're faced with a menacing run that you literally would not be able to do without cheating a little and missing a couple of picks out! To be fair there are people out there I've seen who can pick insanely fast and accurately and will never use economy picking. For me, there are plenty of runs I could easily pick all the way but choose not to because the feel takes over. Both techniques also have a different sound to them so some runs I'll choose to pick and some I'll decide it sounds better to play more legato. It's really up to you. Practice both and go with your heart and ears! :)
