- Me and my dad built this 82 Yamaha Maxim xj550 that we bought. We did a bunch of custom work here in our two car garage. The list of things done to the bike is quite long so I'm not gonna get in too much detail but if you have a question about the bike let me know and I'll try to get to you and answer it. Enjoy and thank you much for watching

I bet your neighbors love you! Nice bike man very tasteful!
badass how even back then's small engines sounded like todays sportbikes, unlike todays 500cc bikes that sound like 250s, great build my friend, keep the oldies alive :)
Hey Jorge,
I had never really thought about building a bike until I watched your video. Always loved em' always had em but never thought I would do a custom bike. Now I am about 4 months into a total over haul of a 1974 CB750. Thanks for posting.
Dan
WOW congrats on building this beautiful CRAZY machine! U really can't beat the awesome style and speed of a cafe racer
no one has the right to fault you for your creation, its the expression of your tastes. If it has 2 wheels it's kool. Remember " RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT". Peace Brother
I can't wait to start building one of these. Cafe racers like this look so sick. Well done on this one it sounds so angry. Love it!
Thanks for putting this bike on UA-cam I've been talkin with some buddies of mine on how to take an old bike a fit it with the mono shock and what we thought was the best way to get a clean rearend for a cafe racer and your video helped alot thanks again and beautiful bike!
Perfect music for this nice machine! Thanks for sharing.
seriously, you need to post another video of this bike, really really sweet, and wicked cool that you built it with your dad
one of the baddest cafe racers ive seen! good job
beautiful bike man, cleanest cafe inspired custom i've seen. ever.
had a 1982 xj550rr...traded it for a yzf600rr genesis...and i miss it...BEST BIKE EVER BUILT
That´s EASILY the best-looking XJ550 I ever saw! A big thumbs-up from me : )
I had a 550 Seca back in the day, ended up putting a used FZ600 exhaust system on it which fit perfectly. Somedays I miss that bike, lots of fun.
This is the best sounding bike I've ever heard. It's a bike-gasm.
That is awesome!! Best looking xj I've ever seen!!!!
Sweet bike guys. You have inspired me to build one too. I'm using an 87 Radian, which has the same frame, converting it to monoshock. Like I said sweet bike! It has the perfect look for the cafe style.
Wow really nice bike! Nice and linear. I'm partial to matte blacks and aluminum but this blue looks really good too! And I love the mono shock! Bravo man!
ha..your neighbours must love you !! haha.. good project to do with your dad.
That is awesome! I am just finishing an 82 xs400rj seca. It looks very similar and has a lot of the same features. Just wanted to say it is very cool and keep on building!
Really like this one. Makes me want to find an old sports bike and try something similar.
Suchhh a nice bike. Love the sound too! I'd love a cafe racer.
Great job! Get a better camera. I feel like the bike looks good enough to be in high def.
bloody hell i could listen to that all day
Damn that thing is loud. Nice job on the bike hope my cafe project turns out that clean.
ahhh yes, the sound of the space-time fabric ripping... gotta love it.
Makes a wonderful racket. Nicely done.
Awesome build. Great sound on those pipes
you got the style just perfect on that bike.
Very nice. A buddy of mine has an 81 XJ550 that he wants to mod a little. I will have to show him this.
Suh-weeeeet! Nice job, dude. She's a real beauty!
Bike looks great, sounds INCREDIBLE. I would have worn gear but whatever, thanks for the vid
that GP style shifter gives me some ideas for my youtube build bike
the rear shock got my attention! really nice!!
A cafe racer is usually a stripped bike (no useless parts ie. no fairings) with an elongated rectangular or knee (and bar clearance usually) dented fuel tank and custom (typically one seater) seat usually with the signature cafe cowl with clubman or drag style bars. Always in a lean forward riding position. You can "cafe" any bike with two wheels. The whole idea is fast and agile.
great looking and awesome sounding bike....
10 out of 10 from Germany !!! AWESOME Father and Son project ?!
You got one good looking custom ride. Kudos
OMG man. The sound. Insane.
Badd-ass bike, dude. I'm building an '81 Seca 550...different animal, same attitude!

This bike is amazing! I'm looking at other xj550 videos and its incredible how different you have made this bike look. Great work. I'm curious as too how you fabricated the tail?
more vids of it please!! sick bike dude!
back when 500cc engines were actually four cylinders and sounded like 600s and 1000s. today's 500cc not only come in 2 cylinders but dont even come close to the amazing sound of this one. im keeping it old school instead,
Looks and sounds,... great!
I'm curious.
What amount of experimental Jetting did you have to do in order to achieve (what sounds likes) exceptional performance @ WOT.
For years I labored trying to get XJ750/900 Carbs to achieve High Perf w/o Air Box. Ever try Polishing the Cylinder Walls for the Diaphragm Piston Travel. Mirror them.
Nice Bike! Good work!
I bet your neighbors freakin' love you!
