Phase reversal / aligning is risky because it may work on yours nicely, but on variable sound systems of a listener it may be pushing inverting the cone inward, while pushing it outward at points. Use judiciously. This is what mastering is for correcting, so if mastered by a competent person afterward, less worry.

Huuh?? A ton of engineers do this all the time, it’s almost like it should be illegal not to do it. I’ve NEVER heard about the downsides, do you have a link/person I can check out? 😅 I know all kinds of weird stuff happens with sub frequencies on a live stage, but then I would probably blame the guy who set them up 😂

    • @tangibleblockofwisdom6386

@@R3BBiT I know, but phase inversion literally pulls the cone when the rest are pushing and vice versa. Hence “use judiciously” statement. I means it compromises the efficacy of all frequency reproduction on the speaker on which the inversion is taking place. Just a thought. I know phase in / out at different frequencies has less of an end chain issue, but but if it’s something taking most of the power like a hiked up bass to mid frequency, then you’re going to be compromising the cone’s capability to reproduce the rest of spectrum. I mean, fuck around / find out. Buy a cheap pair of headphones, adjust the curve to match, see which frequency you have to sacrifice to get reasonable reproduction, then invert phase on one of the tracks, or even the whole track, you will see what I mean. Watch the cones invert and struggle while other frequencies try to seek opportunity

@@meeppeep4113 let's just say this one thing : ANY sense of spatial depth you have ever heard in a Mono Record is solely down to use of polarity inversion, or diddling with phase. Polarity inversion is 180 degrees phase inversion. Aka, exactly backward from original signal. Phase is 360 degrees playground and if you want to hear you favourite singers cough or inhale air between verses and takes, please - fade through those degrees. Male a submix in stereo with a main in mono. You may have to feed it back into itself if you don't ha e summing stuff already etc etc

Flip vertically only flips and mimics the kicks sidechain waveform that you have setup on the bass but idk if it aligns in phase naturally with that step

I tell you a Super Pro hint none talked about, because that's the best secret in this case ever.
Anyway, yes, but only if the baseline tone is always the same. lucky wise this whole problem occured less then 0.1% of all tracks.
there is a 10 times better solution that works for this case.
measure the tone of the Bassline with some special EQs. some EQs does this well and fast in real time, then filter this tone out of the kick drum. instead of up side down the solution.
you can do this with soundradix EQ. trackspacer is not able to, because the EQs bands are working in a extremely wide range, or octaves.
cableguys, why not creating a plug that does it automatically instead of talking about. the frequency ranges for bass and kick are so low, you can measure with nearly none CPU cost.

Question, how about cranking the amplitude of the phased signal only when phase gets detected? This situation applies dynamic notes for the bass.

So my ears where right after all. I quickly started to side chain gentle in general and just use it more like to give it some extra driving rhythm that's like more subconsciously then straight into your face but also if you over do it, it will sound kinda like 2010 -13 like....

  • @baymax001

    Two questions:
    1) If I'm flipping the polarity, do I need to sidechain it after?
    2) Should I bother about the key of the kick?
Because in I saw somewhere that if you use the same kick as your key it can led to some phase issue in low end, But I can see if I reverse the polarity the all the headache is gone.
Please tell me the facts 😭

    • @samuelemanta
      @samuelemanta Рік тому +2

      1) sidechain kick and 808 and then check phase though a spectrum... when the kick has a fucked up waveform means that you need to invert the polarity on the 808, after that the kick has a beatiful waveform and the 808 is louder
      2) tune the kick to itself and then try all the pitches on the piano roll

It’s just for optimizing the punch for electronic club groovers. It doesn’t have to do anything with the vibe of your track. That’s why musicians are musicians and mixing engineers are mixing engineers. Why don’t do both?

    • @midsfb
