Internal growth is the biggest mention on this video. A core 6 of lottery picks and lottery potential players have no excuse not to develop their games into what this teams needs. Jalen, Bari, and Cam should all be shooting 37%+ from 3 next season. Get in the gym fellas!
Stay the course, keep the young core together and build through the draft. If you want to address shooting, pick Sheppard or Knecht. If you want additional size, Kal'el Ware, Eddy or Clingan. If you want versatility, Buzelis or Risacher. If you want defense and flexibility, Castle (he seems like a Udoka-type player). Rockets are playing with house money, have fun with it.
I like trading down to get Knecht but that is just me. Dude is Dan Majerle 2.0, I love him.

May not be able to trade down and get Knecht. I’ve seen mock drafts with him going as early as #3 to as late as #7.

Rockets are three years away from contending. Rockets biggest need a a rim protector.
@@greglyon1402 One thing to consider: most rim protectors become unplayable in the playoffs when teams go small. A dead-eye shooter (that can defend) has more runway in the long term.
That being said, the Bryce Drew comps are too similar to ignore.

Although I like both Kentucky guards…Dalton Knecht should be the pick. Knecht is the most electric player in this draft, the best scorer in this draft, and the most NBA ready player in this draft. He’s a walking bucket and should help the Rockets in every shooting category.

Good pod Jackson. the problem IMO with free agents is who's minutes are they going to take. I agree with you Brooks is more than likely odd man out over the short term. however we are better off trading Brooks for any upgrade we want to make to the rotation. bring in a FA to ride the pine? something about that don't sit right too me. considering how thin the FA market is this season I would rather look at the trade market. armed with Brooks and the #3 pick we should upgrade the SF spot. while Brooks did have a good year last season he isn't in long term plans. we brought him here to help change the culture and he has done that, but now he will likely become a roadblock to younger better players. I agree Jackson he likely doesn't spend all 4 years of that contract here. he is our trade chip IMO. plus it doesn't add to the minutes crunch. I want these youngsters to play, especially Cam, Amen and TarI. I'm expecting jumps from all 3 this coming season. everyone seems stuck on shooting, but I expect some of that to be resolved by the young players getting better at shooting as well as other parts of there games. I think for Cam and Tari there is a real good chance both become above average shooters and Amen to develope the midrange.

I want Amen at the 3 spot but let him run point guard and have FVV run the wing. And let FVV run the offense during half court sets or give a different look.

Jackson hit on pretty much every target and then ends with a whimper with EG. Why bring him back when he’s a streaky shooter that is no longer an average defender and STILL wastes time complaining about not getting fouls? 2018 was a glorious run but let’s not try to assemble a reunion tour at the expense of our young core

we already have Whitmore and Green - how much overlap is there already with Monk?
I wouldn’t mind Buddy Heild Gary Trent Eric Gordon all the names you mentioned but the problem is that if our roster is healthy do these guys want to take the Aaron Holiday Reggie Bullock role where they only play 15-20 minutes that’s going to be hard for any high tier player to do.
But yeah I wouldn’t mind any of those guys but let’s see what happens
Eric Gordon is an older player so I can see him taking a back seat. He also has mentioned that he loves Houston.
The Rocket should poach Isaiah joe from okc. Look Okc needs a back up big. So If I were Rafael stone I would try make a trade deal that would send jock landale to okc for Isaiah joe. Then Rafael should also go for Malik monk, he would be a capable back up PG and a very good scorer as well. With this two signings and with improvement from our guys we would be in playoff. I don’t want buddy or EG in Houston please
Perfect scenario.
Love our ability to sign a decent vet. I'd like to lean more that way to fill out the rotation next year and have the ability to play 9 to 10 really good guys every night. Need vets for the playoffs. Then just draft for upside, Holland/Matas/Dillingham.
Rockets need shooting and a quality backup point guard so you may as well get one player that can do both. And he has to defend too. Most of the playing time is already allocated so I don't see many changes coming up in the playing rotation. So I see us trading down to get that player. Kel'el Ware might be our backup center choice. Maybe he will be the next Dereck Lively for us. The guy probably can play a switching defense instead of drop defense which I'm guessing Udoka will want. Hield and Kennard are not defensive players so I don't think they have a chance to be Rockets. Eric Gordon is too old now but he can take Reggie Bullock's minutes.

The Rockets can’t afford to go after a player like Monk to sit on the bench. After how he played this past season…he may be looking for at least $100 million contract.
This team needs a true rim protector that can spread the floor and get out the way for out driving since we do had big guards. SENGUN IS NOT A CENTER.

If Sarr falls to us, take him + need an EG type to run the 2nd team. If not, take Reed and get a rim protector / rim runner with the MLE.

This makes no sense. we're not going to have 5 guards in our rotation. That leaves at best 4 players for the other 3 positions. The math just ain't mathing. Good teams don't play 10 guys a night.. 9 is a max rotation. And that's stretching it.
The core 6 FVV, Dillon, and the #3 pick give you nine. The Rockets are still three years away from contending. Best to draft wisely and develop what you have.

Udoka ain't waiting 3 years to try to contend. And the West WILL continue to progress also. NBA isn't static / waiting for us to catch up. Ain't no guarantee the entire core 6 will be here for 3 years. Rockets need to be bold. Scared money don't make money. They need a star player to compete or remain a fringe playoff team either barely missing the playoffs or making 7/8 seed and getting bounced by the #1 or #2 seed

There isn't enough minutes to add more players to the rotation. NBA rotations are usually 8 deep If they want to move the needle they'll have to make a trade period. You can't get around that. Get Mitchell for Green plus picks.
Yeah, and in three years when Green is leading the lead in scoring, the Rockets will bemoan the shortest back court.
Even if you go to nine, you already have FVV, Amen, Green, Cam, Eason, Dillon, Smith, and Sengun. Rockets need a backup point guard and a backup big. Using the 3rd pick would give you a solid nine.

We have shooters, wtf is everyone talking bout? They just didnt shoot good last year. Do we have anyone with elite 3 point shooting no, but we have guys capable of shooting the 3 good.

We been like bottom five of the league in three point shooting three years in a row. We don’t have the guys that’s aren’t consistent enough or they are just awful three point shooters.
If we want to get back to playoffs this upcoming year the shooting needs to be addressed

Other than Alek Burks, others all good to me. Burks can easily shoot you out of the game, and he makes some uncharacteristic mistakes on the court.
After watching the Celtics smolder a small kyrie and completely destroyed the the mavs, and you still think that the Rockets do not need Donovan clingan, then have a good night. Clingan is huge and would serve many purpose in playoff. I don’t know why the Rockets are trusting Steve Adam who is injury prone to contribute much next season. Look the man have lost athleticism if there was any, to jump, chase down and block shots, and to roll to the rim and dunk. There’s a reason the Memphis grizzlies allowed him go and now wanna replace him with Donovan clingan at all cost.

What you are saying is that you would trade Dillon, the third pick, and Wemby for Bridges? The Nets are going to be lottery bound and we could be passing on the next first pick in the draft like Flagg in 2025 or Boozer in 2026.

You do need a shooter but you need to bench Jabari Smith. He’s a weakest link and needs to package him #3 for a good athletic center!
Typical “kill them before they grow” mentality. Dude may not be Duncan or Garnett or a superstar, but he is 1-2 years away from becoming a dang good player. The model of drafting these teenagers and then whining about them needing SOME time is weak. Internal growth needs time. Relax on the prematurity!

Guy is one of the youngest players in the league plus being a big man presents a huge learning curve. Give it another season or 2. He still has a big time potential
Jabari out rebounded Porter and Gordon. Scoring was about the same. He is only going to get better. Soon he will be a 20/10 guy.
