Oh, the outtakes! They actually dragged the "I don't think you can name one thing about me outside this show" for quite a bit longer, and Alex genuinely could't say anything about Greg's family or personal life. Even James, who had met him only 6 times before, knew more about Greg than Alex did.
I know that for awhile in college, Greg shared a flat and he slept in the bathtub. I know more about Greg’s life. I win. I would like the camper van. Please tow it to Florida.
I feel like Greg realised how badly he screwed over Phil in the first two tasks so tried to give him as many points as possible after that, he even let Phil off the hook for breaking a glass as it wasn't a 'pair of glasses', when usually the contestant themself would have to contest that in order to circumvent the rules. It's also possible Greg gave the men's team a sympathy point since the ladies had the advantage due to being professional actresses, in the most recent series Sarah Millican was given the win in a musical task even though it was clear she was bad at singing, while actual musician Munya Chawawa scored low.
It wasn't about whether the soap itself was good - the task was: create the most suspenseful cliffhanger for a soap opera. The cliffhanger wasn't that great in theirs, despite the fact that i agree overall it was a superior performance. That wasn't the task though, so it doesn't matter ;)
It's funny, I'm doing a full Taskmaster rewatch, and I have actually been thinking about this task again. The Donnas are one of my favorite things that have ever happened on Taskmaster, but the boys maybe did have a better cliffhanger. But if you highlight the, have to tune in next week, I would be quicker to want to watch more Cul De Sac lol.
jessica's characterization of her soap opera character goes so deep with just the little addition of the inhaler, hahahahahahaha. makes me laugh out loud every time
The studio task had me in tears. It was so chaotic. Phil not letting go of Kerry's leg, Rhod screaming and swearing at the audience, Jess losing her doughnut and Greg's struggle with Rhod throughout. Hands down the best live task they've ever had!

The absolute insanity of this gang is what makes series 7 one of the best, if not the best so far in terms of entertainment. Especially Rhod and James are just off the hook. About the "bias" towards Rhod by Greg: I dont think its actually Greg's bias, but that Rhod just knows him very well and knows what Greg will either like or find funny. They've been close friends for over a decade at that point, and just knows how to either piss him off or make him genuinely laugh.
People complain about Greg being bias towards him, but hand on heart, Rhod has been consistently the most creative contestant on the show. Other than that, its a funny game show, People take it way too seriously by directing angry tweets towards Greg or the show
It’s insane that the bathtub got more points! You can tell Alex was genuinely taken aback as well, his face is shocked. Sorry but pure Rhod favoritism there….
Pretty sure the wording of the task makes it so adding his sunglasses wouldnt act as an replacement. But then again english is not my first language so i might be wrong.
@@MrLador I meant using some glasses from the kitchen /instead/ of some of the provided ones, reaching the same amount. That's assuming most kitchen glasses would have the same shape and thus stack better than stem glasses.

Two things I loved about this episode: 1. James Acaster's smile. It was the first time I noticed him smiling ever. 2. Alex just staring at Greg while eating key lime pie with his bare hands. He had a look like "Why? Please make this end."

Think of this like whose line. In the end, its all a fake game show done for a good laugh and publicity. Also Greg decides who gets the points, period. And lastly, they could argue one is different then the other.
@@showme2theexit They did argue that there are 50 different things of the same kind but that was weak. On that line of thinking what did they worry about? That the contestants would put one thing in, take it out, put it back in and so on 50 times? Of course it's a fake game show but it's supposed to be unscrpted. I don't like it when it becomes too obvious it's fake. I like to pretend it's a competition and they don't decide who will be the winner from the beginning of each episode and of the whole show. I love the show. The only reason I'm complaining even a little bit is because I enjoy watching it as a genuine competition.
In future episodes they will no longer be titled after what contestants say but from what Greg says. I think doing that is a poor choice since the majority of his lines are scripted.
phil is being treated the same way as hugh in series 4 and it's genuily so sad 😪 he tries his best and does great in most challenges yet they keep dismissing his efforts on almost every single one of them
And he looks genuinely sad too every time he gets robbed - just like Hugh. I feel like they thought they had great ideas (I think so too) and then last minute Greg calls it rubbish. He should've been the winner for the 50 different things task because he's the only one who did it right.
Phil isnt being robbed. He's just shit at the tasks because he either misses the point, or is too on point and misses that its a show about creativity. And then he looks genuinely annoyed too. Pretty much what Asim was in the last season. The losers are only funny if they can take it.
@@itsokay7989 What about the 50 different things task? He is the only one who did task and he gets 1 point for doing the task the right way? I mean come on mate, I don't know why he is being scammed out of points, but he clearly is.
@@itsokay7989 "he either misses the point, or is too on point and misses that its a show about creativity" I would argue that his "G Key" was - by far and away - the most creative entry for the prize task, yet he was given second last. Phil is literally the only person who followed the rules for the 50 things task, yet he came last. - Most seasons, there is a pretty clear example of someone who Greg unfairly punishes. I don't really mind that much - this show never even attempts to portray itself as fair - but it's definitely wrong to make out like those who do poorly are being punished fairly. Phil deserves many more points than he is getting. And by that same token, Rhod doesn't deserve nearly as many as he gets. I'm enjoying watching Rhod, but the clear and blatant favoritism he's receiving is plain to see.
@@itsokay7989 except its sometimes not specifically stated whether a task is about creativity or being literal - I just felt that when the task was ambiguous and Phil was creative then someone else was given more points because Greg felt a certain way and for some tasks when Phil took it seriously and literally then the task was won by someone else on the basis of creativity. Greg is arbitrary and I get it that that's the fun bit but that doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion about it. It makes for great laughs but I can still get annoyed at somethings and thats why I love this series, its equal parts frustrating and hilarious. Also, Phil isn't shit.
Greg and Rhod have been friends for years, so I think favoring Rhod can't really be helped, though I definitely agree with you on disfavoring Phil. He definitely should've clearly won the "50 different items in a bin" task, and to disfavor him bc of the "stock image" look - Jame's ice cream pot was shot in the exact same way; to name just two of the many times he should've done better
@Gnome Saiyan Not Hugh Dennis in series 4. He couldn't avoid giving him 1st for a few tasks, but he was last an absurd number of times. I'm indifferent to Hugh & was actively rooting for Noel, but even I could see that. Phil loses points for hurting the show's revenue. The CW bought Series 8 to show in the U.S. With the outfit Phil wore, there is no way to sell Series 7 to broadcast TV.
Phil definitely got robbed, but I feel like Greg favors Kerry a lot more than Rhod to be honest; not so much in this particular episode perhaps, but throughout the series for sure!
In the "putting 5 different items" I would have given Phil 5 for being the only one who bothered to actually have different items, and then the rest according to time. In the second half, I was impressed by what he did with it but then he got stilted a second time. I'd have put him second. Poor Alex.
I was already excited that a new Taskmaster would drop on my birthday, and then it turns out to be the 50th episode. How awesome to start the day with Taskmaster AND fanfare.

I remember seeing that, can anyone provide the link to that video I can't find it
Where can you watch them?
What's next? I got no money
I know that for awhile in college, Greg shared a flat and he slept in the bathtub. I know more about Greg’s life. I win. I would like the camper van. Please tow it to Florida.

Sweet of James to check on Kerry and ask if she was alright after the final task - 40:29
The best part of my day is seeing there's a new Taskmaster episode available to watch
Yes. Thursdays are the best days
🤣🤣 same here
I agree. I wish we had a Canadian version!
400hamburg that would be great. Who plays his little Alex horn? I would love also Martin short or Dan levy.
The best part for me is actually watching the vid xd
James Acaster is rapidly becoming one of my favourite people on the planet.
His Netflix shows are easily the best stand-up I have seen in my life.
Same! Little Alex as well lol
@@TerofiedBeats alex is very wholesome
Same.
His appearances on Would I Lie to You did it for me. I don't have Netflix but will probably get it just to see his shows.
Justice for Kerry and Jess. I massively enjoyed their soap opera, I definitely think it was the superior one.
I was just looking for a comment about this
I feel like Greg realised how badly he screwed over Phil in the first two tasks so tried to give him as many points as possible after that, he even let Phil off the hook for breaking a glass as it wasn't a 'pair of glasses', when usually the contestant themself would have to contest that in order to circumvent the rules.
It's also possible Greg gave the men's team a sympathy point since the ladies had the advantage due to being professional actresses, in the most recent series Sarah Millican was given the win in a musical task even though it was clear she was bad at singing, while actual musician Munya Chawawa scored low.
Donna: How'd you find me?
Donna: Google maps!
Jessica's reading comprehension is my favorite throughline of this series.
"All the information is on the task."
I was confused when Alex mentioned there had been one Taskmaster-baby until I remembered that it was him
Oh thanks, I had forgotten about this!
But which wedding was he talking about??
@@sihemrifiiawsh I think he meant Noel and the duck
jessica's characterization of her soap opera character goes so deep with just the little addition of the inhaler, hahahahahahaha. makes me laugh out loud every time
32:00 "Phil has glasses and as we've seen throughout the series he knows how to pack things in tightly." - LMFAO
The studio task had me in tears. It was so chaotic. Phil not letting go of Kerry's leg, Rhod screaming and swearing at the audience, Jess losing her doughnut and Greg's struggle with Rhod throughout. Hands down the best live task they've ever had!
What I appreciate abut this show is that it works like an anime: the longer the series goes on, the more of the intro sequence makes sense. Great media design right there!
As if we didn't already know this was the most chaotic group of contestants ever, this final task of the show reeeeeeally cements it.
That person in the audience should have chucked Rhod's donut down at the last second. That would have been golden.
Especially after insulting them the entire time they were trying to help him. That would have been just revenge.
This is why Thursday is the best day of the week.
Friday is challenging Thursday's title because of the No More Jockeys uploads! If you like Alex Horne, Tim Key and Mark Watson - that's a game to see!
Madalina M sounds interesting, is it on UA-cam?
@@adamarens3520 Yes, that's how I found it. No More Jockeys is the name of the channel and the game the three crazies made up to pass the time in lockdown
Madalina M I’ll check it out thanks 😊
On the topic of outtakes, after James’s prize task and Greg’s “very full boi” comment Alex called Greg daddy and made the whole room uncomfortable. He had to sit on Greg’s lap and say it full eye contact 😂
Their dynamic has just evolved magnificently throughout the show lmao
i NEED to see this.

10:20 Phil followed the direction to put fifty different things in the bin, and yet misquoted the line about putting fifty different things in the bin 😂
Phil’s portrait of Greg was definitely better than it got judged. Totally looked like Greg’s classic angry eyebrow
Other than that, its a funny game show, People take it way too seriously by directing angry tweets towards Greg or the show
Agreed. The amount of times he's given him almost no points for fing up is overlooked
@@Moleoflands people just want to get mad to suit their agenda, kind of people to dig up tweets from 9 years ago
Cul De Sac was robbed. One of the best task performances of all time!!!!
AND it’s French slang for asshole!
It’s insane that the bathtub got more points! You can tell Alex was genuinely taken aback as well, his face is shocked. Sorry but pure Rhod favoritism there….
I'd just like to say that Acaster's portrait of Greg and Alex was incredible.
-the husband is clearly agitated... What's he been doing for the past nine months?
-he's been downstairs waiting for his dinner.
I CAN'T 😂😂😂
I will forever be bothered by James not realizing he could have probably put his sunglasses in the box alongside the pairs of drinking glasses
Pretty sure the wording of the task makes it so adding his sunglasses wouldnt act as an replacement. But then again english is not my first language so i might be wrong.
He could also have taken other glasses from the kitchen that stacked better, but I don't think they would have accepted that.
Task says "Put all the pairs of glasses inside the box", so bringing extra glasses would only make the task harder for them.
@@MrLador I meant using some glasses from the kitchen /instead/ of some of the provided ones, reaching the same amount. That's assuming most kitchen glasses would have the same shape and thus stack better than stem glasses.
@@zmast333 Yeah, not going to work; the task specifically says "all glasses" must be put in the box. Not "10 pairs of glasses must be put in the box". If you bring in more glasses from the kitchen, you just have more glasses that must be put in the box.
Two things I loved about this episode:
1. James Acaster's smile. It was the first time I noticed him smiling ever.
2. Alex just staring at Greg while eating key lime pie with his bare hands. He had a look like "Why? Please make this end."
40:31 aw James checking on Kerry after she fell and was dragged around🥺
Rhod and Alex needing a break after playing tag, and Rhod just laying flat on the pavement had me dead
Also when I watched the girl’s soap opera for the first time I genuinely did not expect Alex to pop out
He's laying his face flat because that's his Thinking Position. He's done it for every episode. on a table or using hand when standing.
I only just started and Phil has already been done dirty
Phil just doesn't get Taskmaster. He's not being robbed, he's being left behind.
@@itsokay7989 BRUH, on the 50 items task Alone he was the only one who followed the rules as written. He shouldn't be the heel of this season
@@jbaby362 Yeah, I didn't understand the reasoning behind "Well, they are different stones from each other". What would qualify as being the same, then?
@@Jennyfisch Exactly! Like that's just putting in less than 50 at best. I'm frustrated for Phil
Same with Hue and “make an exotic sandwich”. He made the only edible one, ate it and came last, while other just put random shit on bread and were all higher. Both got basically “bullied” to last every time, but Phill is actually sad about it.
Every now and then theres some task with weird scoring but at the end of the day the taskmaster word is final no matter what the task says.
I thought Jess and Kerry’s soap was so much funnier than the other one, it’s a shame it didn’t win
Better written and acted too - it felt more like an actual soap opera than the other one
The first team task the women one was the infamous extension one, go figure
Edit: Actually it was that live team task, completely forgot about that because it was so short
they've gotten robbed in all the team tasks so far
@@kiiturii The men definitely deserved the win in the 'big or small' task given the criteria was 'as big or as small as possible', so even though theirs was less creative, they fulfilled the task better. The opposite happened in series 2 when Joe rescued the stuffed cat the quickest, but since the task was 'best rescue' and not 'quickest rescue', Katherine won

Hi do u know what greg/jess said at 27:45 ? The reason greg gave one more point to the boys?
Phil got robbed. why would it say put 50 different things in, if the things weren't different? shouldn't the task just say put in 50 things?
He got an extra point for that. The main aspect of the task was time.
@@madalinam6183 Exactly. why would they say 50 different things. as if one can clone something 50 times, and even then is it fake.
Agree to agree.
50 different things, not 50 different types of things.

Another wasted episode title opportunity: A-rub-a-dub-dub
RUb-A-DUB-duB?! *intense music*
He should have said a-rub-a-tub-tub instead
In future episodes they will no longer be titled after what contestants say but from what Greg says. I think doing that is a poor choice since the majority of his lines are scripted.
@@james-faulkner they are still titled after contestants quotes in season 8 and 9 so I don’t know what you’re talking about
I would have gone with "Uhh, Gus!"
i love how at the thought of a cliffhanger, both the groups individually thought of a 'pregnant lady.'
phil is being treated the same way as hugh in series 4 and it's genuily so sad 😪 he tries his best and does great in most challenges yet they keep dismissing his efforts on almost every single one of them
And he looks genuinely sad too every time he gets robbed - just like Hugh.
@@itsokay7989
"he either misses the point, or is too on point and misses that its a show about creativity"
I would argue that his "G Key" was - by far and away - the most creative entry for the prize task, yet he was given second last.
Phil is literally the only person who followed the rules for the 50 things task, yet he came last.
-
Most seasons, there is a pretty clear example of someone who Greg unfairly punishes.
“My water’s broken!”
“My heart’s broken!”
“Rub-a-dub-dub!”
Phil was underscored throughout in my view, especially for that beautiful picture ❤

If i made the show here in the US I'd go after someone in the art of dark comedy. Someone like Bill Burr. But im not sure about the co-host.

I feel like he favors Rhod and actively disfavors Phil a lot
Greg and Rhod have been friends for years, so I think favoring Rhod can't really be helped, though I definitely agree with you on disfavoring Phil. He definitely should've clearly won the "50 different items in a bin" task, and to disfavor him bc of the "stock image" look - Jame's ice cream pot was shot in the exact same way; to name just two of the many times he should've done better
he and I have that in common. I can't stand Phil. I love Rhod so it doesn't bother me, even though I get why it would others.

Yeah that made this season so annoying.
No spoilers, but Episode 9.
I don't think it's from friendship. I think Greg is more terrified that Rhod knows where he lives and worried about reprisals.
Honestly, James' picture is incredible considering how little he had to work with.

In the "putting 5 different items" I would have given Phil 5 for being the only one who bothered to actually have different items, and then the rest according to time. In the second half, I was impressed by what he did with it but then he got stilted a second time. I'd have put him second.
