    These two also had that unique Russian grace, outstanding posture, and amazing dignity when they skated. Perfection we probably won’t see again.

    Only Sergei Grinkhov could wear that shade of pink, and still look superbly manly!! I always picture Romeo in a strong, dark color, but maybe the costume designer was going for the more ethereal romantic look (?). I wonder what the rationale for this choice was.

      @@rekr3316 I don't agree with you at all. Such a costume even adds to the masculinity - particularly in his case - because it shows his ease and self-confidence, his self-assurance. Men needn't be scared to wear color or whatever they like. I feel pity for men who have to dress in a certain way to feel manly enough. How pathetic is that ? It is a show after all!

      A little too much pink. I like pink, but here it seems overdone. At least, it's a softer pink than the fuchsia ruffles that they were wearing in some other programs.

    You can see through just their Beautiful appearance on the ice that it’s going to be a Superb Program. Their Skill and their Unison is so Captivating and is Unmatched. Grinkov is Very Handsome,Strong, and show’s Masterful Skill and Artistry; as does Katia. Although Katia had a minor fall toward the latter part of the Program. It didn’t diminish their Beautiful Elegance nor the Message Conveyed throughout their Performance.

But all those beautiful years they had together on the ice, I ALWAYS rooted for them! 🇷🇺. I honestly believe that when GOD calls Katia home when she is old and warm inside her bed, Sergei will be waiting at Heavens Gates with her skates and they will go off together, forever, skating beautifully in the clouds. With all the backstabbing, badmouthing, splitting up, breaking of vows, divorce, and general nastiness and unhappiness that goes on today in love, relationships, and marriage, it breaks my heart that these two people who genuinely and respectfully loved each other SO much and SO well were tragically taken away from each other at such a young age..😢. It’s almost like their nearly perfect love was just too perfect. And their tragedy continues to break my heart, even now in 2018. God, I’d love to see what their lives would be like if both were still together and alive and loving each other today...❤️

      Kimberly Bellefontaine I know what you mean. Objectively, I probably know WAY too much about G&G, and Gordeeva’s life after he died. I don’t stalk her in ANY way, but I read and watch everything I can. Sometimes over and over.
      Anyway, I was going to say...what you said may be the blessing...there’s no way to say for certain how their marriage and love for each other might have changed. Sometimes unavoidable and life altering obstacles bombard couples. They were never really tested with such things. Yes, his father died too young (and what Gordeeva wrote in My Sergei about it is very touching), but most of us will have to deal with the death of our parents. The biggest, unforeseen, unusual, seemingly unfair obstacle that landed in their path was his death. I like to think that their love was so strong that they could make it through anything.
      The way they lived their lives and loved each other inspire me. Perhaps things ended before the trials and tribulations of marriage and parenthood could soil what appears to have been a real life fairytale. It convinced me that I don’t have to settle for being loved a lot less. Also, from my perspective as a Christian, I see our world as a broken one. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t yearn for heaven. I believe that the beautiful things we see and experience are glimpses God gives us of what heaven will be like. Once there, we will all experience love that even surpasses what we saw in G&G. ❤️

    • @lisastiles1408
      @lisastiles1408 5 років тому +5

      Wendy Fiolek With the 6.0 scoring system, the only thing that really mattered in the end was the ordinal, how each judged RANKED each pair relative to each other. I’m not motivated enough to go find the detailed scores, but if that particular judge was hard on everybody, say the next highest score they gave was 5.5/5.6, and then ranked G&G #1, it doesn’t matter when it comes to medals.
      I DO see, however, regardless of whether that judge ranked pairs fairly and impartially, that POLITICALLY, it looks bad. And we want to keep politics out of sports. If I were the head of USFSA, or whoever is in charge of certifying and assigning US judges for international assignments, I would have had a chat with that judge afterwards.
