- They insist they are not Viking Metal, but Swedish melodic death metallers Amon Amarth do sing about vikings. They also sing about Norse mythology, and take their name from the Elvish word for Mount Doom in Tolkien's fantasy books. Make up your own mind as they maraud the stage at Hellfest.

Alex terrible is great at vocals, but Johann and any vocalist that don't cup the mic onstage have the slight advantage, of being able to understand what he's saying but also him being louder onstage.
Technically it is not the best voice because there are more brutal vocalists that are able to be understood. But he has a voice that is safe enough to appeal the broader scope of listeners.

The vocals of Parkway Drive's vocalist Winston are so pretty easy to understand. But Johan's vocals are crisp

All band is on point but I must say that Johan is outstanding...Man's voice hits like thunder!
Johan is still the standout performer. Guitars were messy considering how easy most riffs are and the drums have been bland and lifeless ever since Fredrik Andersson left.

I come from Thailand for Hell fest and Amon Amarth
I'm a huge fan of them and watch every live performance they throw at me. Guitars always find a way to fuck up then get the tune back and its pretty awesome how they don't care, continue to bang heads, throw some flames, keep enjoying the moment and amaze me. I always find myself raising my beer horn to them yelling SKOL!. They are always awesome as thunder!
Vocals are unreal, really, really awesome. And Jocke is one of the best (live) death metal Drummers out there

I am a big fan of Amon Amarth but have never seen them in live before. The first experience of watching Amon Amarth live at the Hammersonic Festival 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was an amazing and thrilling moment. See you soon, I hope you all sail back to Indonesia soon.

This is 🔥 I needed this. I have seen Amon Amarth many times in the USA 🇺🇸 but not on this level in 🇫🇷 France . This an epic show that I will watch many times over . Thank you ARTE for posting these amazing shows .
Amon Amarth is not a daytime band, I don't know when they gonna learn that. The stage shows, lights, fires and their performance all deserve night time. Also pretty much a dead crowd. All in all great band, nothing can change that.

I've been listening to them since Fate of Norns, they sound as good as ever. Johan's voice was made for death growls, so satisfying to listen to.

Been an AA fan since Twilight came out. I still think of Surtur as "the new album". I can't say I've liked much of anything they've made since then. I first saw them in 2011 and several times in the years after that. I can't say this performance comes close to being what they could do back then, but I appreciate their dedication to the part and the fact that they're finally getting recognized and rewarded for their craft. They deserve some fame and success for being on the forefront of the melodeath and pagan metal scenes for so long.
my exact thoughts... i have not enjoyed an album since Surturs rising. Their newest album is growing on me however...
But how about With Oden on Our Side? I wish they played one of that records' song in this set

I‘ve never seen a video where they play the solo of Twilight of the Thunder god CORRECTLY! When they play the correct notes they play in the wrong key or vice-versa.
Edit:Actually Roope Latvala recorded that solo. Maybe they play it wrong so that he doesn’t get paid from their live gigs?😂
Really? I had no idea he recorded thr solo. That's gotta be the reason, because every time I've seen them or heard them live the twilight solo never comes out right, I thought it had to do with the mixing

I love how simple their songs are.
It's because they can't play like Roope Latvala can/could. No disrespect, but Roope is just in another class entirely, posses a greater knowledge of theory and technique, etc.

I love this band and they only seem to get better over time.
Matter of taste. I have followed them since the very first album but grew tired with Jomsvking, lacking their usual power. You have to wait till the half of the album before things get started. Berserker proved even worse to me so that I called it quit with AA.

@olivierperrot9024 Yep I could agree with that. My personal favorite is With Oden on Our SIde, as their previous albums has hade some production issues that I struggle with, but the songs themselves are great, as evidenced by that bonus DVD on Surtur Rising
The golden four or so of vs, Oden , nOrns , twilight and surtur , esp as the double gigs of the tour stamped that in my mind I saw that one twice thank the Gods !!!! But the heathen record made me give the after records a shot more, they have their moments,too . .
