- The Young and the Restless has been running on CBS for nearly five decades now. Over these years, the show has created numerous fictional residents for the fictional town of Genoa City. However, not all of them have met the same fate. Some of the actors joined and never left while some of the actors left despite making a good impression among the audience. How do you kill off Brad Carlton, then bring him on as a guest from B&B as "Bill Spencer?!!" As if anyone didn't know his character played on Y&R!! That was a STUPID MOVE!! Give me a freaking break!!! Y&R get your writing skills together, you guys are loosing your abilities to stay focused and realistic!!

Michael Muhney and Billy Miller's portrayal of Adam and Billy were exceptional! They made the show worth watching.

after watching this video and remembering many other controversial exits and recasts throughout daytime t.v., i know it's fair to say that the soaps are just as messy and dramatic behind the scenes as they are in front of the camera. the actors always have to give a nice, carefully packaged exit speech when they are fired. the only one who really told the truth was BRENDA DICKSON. she let them have it in her book. i own it. it is VERY messy on these soaps behind the scenes. hollywood is NOT for the faint of heart. some of those people are something to behold. and yet,...i love the show.
That's hollyweird full of mess and other nasty going ons these actresses and actors have to do things they're ashamed of to be on these shows and to get screen time i don't envy them at all
I had a funny, confused moment when Diamont recently did a YnR crossover. Jack Abbot is mentioning his sister Tracey to Dollar Bill, saying something like 'I don't think you've met my sister'. My mind went 'Wait. What? They were married.' before I realized that the scriptwriters were messing with us

@@rosearmstead4585 I know. And my mind played tricks with me, seeing him in Y&R. And I think the writers knew some of us might flash back to the past so they wrote the script to point out that Dollar Bill had never met Tracy. Subtle.

They forgot one, Donny Boaz, the guy who played the part of Chance. He was really good and they just decided to fire him. Gina Tognoni was also really good. She was the best Phyllis, but they fired her too. It makes you wonder what the real reasons are.🤔
I don’t understand why they fired Donny Boaz, he is a very good actor and so was Gina. It is a shame she hasn’t appeared in anything else. I would watch her!

My two favorites Daniel Goddard and Gina Tognoni - loved Daniel with Christen - just a beautiful couple and I wasn’t watching when Michele Stamford was Phyllis but I saw Gina take on a role and made it her own - both actors are terrific here’s hoping someone else see’s their worth and hire them 🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻

I always wished they'd brought Victoria Rowell back. Dru could have had some crazy amnesia story and caused drama for Neil's life. Sadly it never happened.
It would be great to bring her back, she was one of my favorites. Would be an interesting to see how she would react to Devon's decision to file for custody.

Brenda Dickson was probably asked to leave because she wasn't a very good actress. I remember when Jess Dalton took over. She was much better suited for the role & a better actress. Jess was so much better with Jeanne Cooper than Brenda.

They were let go because the writers, producers or whoever was in charge doesn’t have a clue to how good these actors were in portraying their characters? Most of these shows have to be feeling the circumstances of their actions because they are greatly missed and no matter how long they have been gone or who you try to put in in there place , your show will never be as good as it was with them on these stories. We tune in each day because of how great an actor or actress that they are in the character that they have made their own? Just because you writers write them out doesn’t mean that they are forgotten? Disappointed in so many storylines that you all have ruined and just stopped, because we don’t want replacements as they can never pull off the chemistry or personal touch that they bring to their storylines!!!!!!

After Billy Miner and Michael Muhney left Y&R, so did I. I haven’t watched the show ever since. This was around the same time when Jeanne Cooper sadly passed away. After watching this show religiously for over 40 years, this show is no longer relevant nor important. It went downhill and I had to cut ties.
Justin Hartley played adam and he was matched with Chelsea and they were a really good couple. I cant stand Chelsea after she got with nick. They had zero chemistry to me
Don diamond is more enjoyable on The Bold & the Beautiful than he was as Brad on the young and the restless.

Also kiling off the John Abbott character. Though the character was brought back from time to time as a ghost or subconscious spirit it's just a sign that the character never should have been killed off in the first place.
They broke up Cane and Lily?? That sucks!

A great soap opera back in the day but presently it is not as good anymore my biggest complaint about the show over the last decade is the lack of drama in the show they have changed writers as most people change their clothes but you still have the core veteran actors on the soap opera at what point do start holding the actors accountable they have the best cast that money can't buy but when some of the veteran actors get tired of playing a villain it's very disappointing lets face it to many heros not enough villians i like heroes but the point of having a soap opera is to have some bad characters to root against look at the greatness of Kimberlin Brown. She won a emmy playing a detestable character CERTAINLY the villians get all the fun she said in emmy win it is good to be bad but that is nothing it also transcend in motion pictures look at some of more coveted oscar performances in the history of Hollywood. Kevin spacey a bad husband in american beauty denzel washington bad cop in training day kathy Bates a psychotic fan in misery and of course sir Anthony Hopkins in silence of the lambs Javier bardem no country for old men forest whitaker playing a dictator in last king of Scotland and my personal favorite oscar performance is Michael Douglas as iconic gordan gekko as destructive corporate raider in oliver Stone's wall street so that should tell you the importance of villians as well as heros cause it keeps the drama going a keeps the stories fresh you dont have some drama in the mix it is not going to be nothing more than a hallmark program a lastly i dont want to forget the most iconic tv villain of all time this man is the undisputed goat and that is Mr Larry Martin Hagman that proves my point rest in peace Larry you will be missed but then again they already miss you

I love billy miller ! However I wasn't much of a fan of Michael muhney ! Justin Hartley is just a dream come true ! He is the best among them. Billy I have been a fan ever since he came on the show as Billy Abbott. Omg pls writers n producers let Justin n Billy come back. This is their forever home.
These casting changes were are so sad... I do prefer the original Phyllis, Adam and Billy, sorry not sorry. Bill Spencer/Don Diamonte, well that was a big loss too. I really hated seeing Victoria Rowell leave. Brenda Dickson, the first Jill, well to be honest, I recognized her as a brunette not a blonde. I loved her storyline up against Catherine Chancellor and it made for great watching. All things good eventually come to an end. I will say my all time favorite is Victor Newman-Eric Braeden. I guess change is inevitable, doesn't mean we have to like it!

No mention here as to why Terry Lester left Y&R. He had problems with Bill Bell and felt that Lauralee Bell got most of the air time while his character was diminishing.

This is nothing personal to Daniel Goddard because he might be a nice person, but he was an awful, flat actor as Cane Ashby, with virtually no range of emotion. I couldn't understand anything he said either, and it wasn't because of his accent.

I used to make fun of him whispering to my oldest granddaughter who would sometimes watch with me, and she'd laugh like crazy, because of course I overdid it for entertainment purposes!
I had to either rewind DVR to hear him or read his lines in closed caption so I didn't see his acting when I did the latter.
The producers must have had a lot of complaints about the same thing, although they should have picked it up much earlier. Friends and family who watch Y&R couldn't stand it when he came on, and if he was saying something that might have been essential to the storyline, we all did what you did, which we shouldn't have to.

You have the right to your own opinion, and it's ok that it's different to mine. I couldn't stand the actor who played Cane Ashby. He was unconvincing and had no depth. Also, I couldn't understand a word he said, and it wasn't because of his accent.
Thank you for this video about previous actors from y&r but I have something I would like you to look into currently what Jennifer Finnigan the original Bridget is working on she had a short-term series four Summers call Salvation that was finally canceled by CBS I think she was also on several other things she had her own show called close to home right after leaving Bridget which lasted maybe one or two seasons then she was on Crossing Jordan for a while and assorted other things she's a wonderful actress I like very much and would like to know if she's currently or has plans on working sign phone excuse the typos lastly I'm a big fan of Victoria Rowell with the death of Neil Winters Kristoff st. John sadly and myself Stafford back is Phyllis I think nothing would be better than to have Victoria Rowell returned even sporadically for her family as Drusilla I would like nothing better sincerely Joe Cooper

The one actor who repulsed me more than any other was the guy who played Cain or Cane---whatever his name was spelled.
I am glad Michelle Stafford is back on Y&R----I am anxiously waiting Melissa Eagan to exit!!! Do not like her---never did. Her short stint on AMC was a relief.

Agree and do not pronounce the town's name and some of the characters, like Devon correctly. It is irritating. I find myself yelling the narrator. LOL
Whatever the real reason some these Actors did leave, I'm not surprised about those who were fired. BUT to blackball 3 of these Actresses from soaps says that Bell & Josh Griffin are NO different then the BIG TIME PRODUCER/ CEO of I think Paramount Studio who is not serving time in Prison for his Role in Abuse toward women & some where also black balled as well. But one could tell that the same head executive writer for Y&R created by the BELL FAMILY, also writes for B&B because the STORYLINES are not to far fetched.Y&R you got the Abbotts & the Newmans. & the writing consist mostly DIANE. B&B the Logans & the Foresters. Who are in & out of bed with each other. Plus you can almost Predict what's next on both shows to the point that its become RIDICULOUS. So Happy GH cares about its Fans & listens majority of the time, Thats why they recieved 19 nomination. Really sad about DOOL & its Controversy of abuse toward Majority of the Female Actresses by ALBERT FLARR, all who have just let the show, should be Fired. Not all top men, but those men who Take their Power to the Extreme by going overboard with Mistreatment toward Females & some Males need to be exposed & fired. The yesterday Beauty of The Real Orginals soap opreas that gave you good Storylines & Value their Actors are NO MORE. Today's CEO'S & head executives have in someways gone beyond the Standards once created from those of the Past. Now the way they write ✍ has lost its true meaning of how to keep the audience excited to tune in everyday because you don't know what going to happen next & thats why Y&R & B&B are like a broken record, for the storyline isn't great & when all you see is the same 10 or 12 actors over & over, it become none interesting to watch. HOPE all these Past great Actors are doing well & finding other ways to contribute towards the entertainment world. You are Missed.

As a fan of Gina Tognani, I wasn't seriously a fan of her as Phyllis. While she definitely pulled off Phyllis' fiery nature, there were just some things that were jarring for me with GT in the role, namely that she wasn't old enough to have an adult son and a granddaughter, or to have had an affair with Danny all those years ago. I mean, how old was she when she met Danny? 16?? 17?

She has been on Bold& Beautiful for a number of years now. I liked her better than this Victoria but I doubt she'd probably would not return to Y&R if given the opportunity.

@Sandy Gan I hated it when the writers decided to do this to Cane. Yes, he started on the show with a sketchy past posing as Jill's son but he cleaned up his act. He won the favor of Katherine and Jill who thought of him as part of their family. Even though he pretended to be Jill’s son, when the truth came out, Jill still thought of him as her son. Then he met Lily and they were great. He was a great husband, supporting Lily through her cancer, the twins birth, etc. The twins call Jill their grandmother. But I guess Cane and Lily were too perfect so the writers had to make his character as ugly as possible with the lies, cheating on Lily, getting another woman pregnant, etc. It was like the writers were taking Cane farther and farther down a dark hole were the bottom would be his dismissal from the show. I hated it.
I never really got the whole Cane is Jill's real son storyline back when it started. It just seemed SOOOOO out there and messed with so many other characters who were not ( at the time) on the show ( Nina, Chance). I mean Cane and Philip were not even close to age appearance-wise. Terrible story, Y&R.
I didn't like Goddard he was a creep. I like& miss Gina who played Phyllis the nut who plays her role now Is sickening fire her please!
