  • Trying to fix my wife's Philips Lumea Precision Plus SC2006/11 IPL Home Hair Removal System. It stops working a week ago, and apparently it's a very common issue.
Trying to save some money here instead of buying a new one.

Firstly - you DO NOT USE metal spatulas or screwdrivers to open plastic case of any device. Secondly - HEAT UP EDGES of case and use plastic tools - it opens without any issues and does not cause any damage to clips or plastics itself.

Can't do much about it, cos this device is too expensive, and can't go to thos laser treatment centre, 1. is too expensive 2. the lock down. And I can afford to buy another one, since the device is so expensive. Like I said if they can just make the device with a replacement battery compartmnent, they will make more money. Be it, if its only using their own batteries. Ppl will buy to replace the batteries.

You could access the batteries from the bottom of it. 1. Pry out the bottom bit first where charger plugs in. There are 2 screws underneath the oval plastic cover
    2. Unscrew the torx screws

Hi everyone ,if your device (Philips Lumea Precision)stop charging after you did not use it for
more than 3 month ,batteries go to sleep mood and just need to awake them, you do not need to replace batteries only spend £1 to buy resistor (RS PRO 180Ω Carbon Film Resistor 2W ±5%
)from uk.rs-online.com/web/p/through-hole-fixed-resistors/7078833/ and again no need to open the device as this man showing on this footage ,At the bottom of the Lumea there is a little bluish cover where one inserts the charger. This is easily pried out with a small screwdriver or tool alike.
Then, two screws are exposed and by removing those and prying out once more the bottom case from the front side of the tool, you immediately see the red and black cables.
Push one end of the resistor into the inside of the barrel of charger (it’s easier to do if you bend the resistor lead back onto itself to make a snug fit)
Connect the other end of the resistor to the red (positive) terminal, and hold it there with e.g. a clothes peg.
Plug in and turn on the plug for the Lumea charger.
Leave charging like this for about half an hour.
Disconnect your resistor from the battery pack, and try plugging the barrel into the usual socket on the Lumea. It should light up and charge normally - if not, try repeating the connection between barrel, resistor and terminals in case you didn’t get a good connection the first time.
Once charging normally, let the Lumea charge up fully. And you won’t forget to keep it charged every couple of months again, will you?
If you need help please let me know ,i am hapey to help you ,my device was not use for near 5 years and i did fix it as above method. for pictures go here lazyadmin.nl/diy/fixing-your-lumea-battery-charging-issue-for-less-than-11e1/ thanks.

You don't need to change battery or open Lumea.
It happened to my Lumea as I did not touch it fir years.
When I will connect it to its charger, it will show as if its fully charged but this charging will not last more than a minute.
I kept using and charging it every time, perhaps 20 times and slowly the battery now revive and is taking full charge, this charge is lasting quite long even better than new latestmodel lumea I bought which even doesn't work on light brown skin but the old model does work on Asian skin colour on bikini area.
