Ye olde pedals are super easy to work on. These pedals came on a crankset I bought off eBay, and they're actually pretty nice. There was a bit of play in the axle though so here's a video showing how I serviced them.

I've just bought a Univega Viva Sport with these on. They have play, the cage is bent, but they aren't great without some kind of toe strap or cage.

These aren’t old Monkeyshred mate. They are great steel bodied pedals from the 70’s. Kyokuto is also called KKT sometimes, and they make great no nonsense, decent quality gear. I’ve only watched the first 20seconds of the vid Nd I know that the spindle and cups/cones will be spotless in these...even before you open them. Nice vids by the way😊👍

Never mix old and new bearings, either use all old or all new,
they must match in size, best to use a micrometer.
for top cap, use an open end wrench do not use pliers.
What do you use to clean the parts with before reassembly?
Thinners usually.

GO TO A TOOL STORE BUY TOOLS - PLIERS ARE NEVER A GOOD RESORT, LAST CHOICE!!! Harbor Freight, Tooltopia, etc. great place for inexpensive TOOLS.
Jerry I have thousands of £ worth of tools. Pliers are never a last choice.
