Who remembers when commissioned hit and how they took over the younger generations from the Winans.😁
👋🏽
Hahahaha. Where is the lie. LOL
I love commissioned too. But the winans had the touch. They never missed. They created the contemporary male group lane
They didn't take away...just added
I remember, the Winans were still good but I remember when Commissioned kinda drew more of the younger crowd back then.
FAVORITE GROUP 'THE COMMISSIONED'👑 FROM 1985' TO NOW 2024'! EVERYYYYYYYY SONG ENCOURAGED AND SHINED THE LIGHT & ATTENTION BACK ON GOD AND HIS LOVE FOR EACH ONE OF US!!!❤❤❤ GIVING ALLLL THE GLORY TO GOD ONLYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! Helped me get through some rough times! YOUNG MEN AND NOW SEASONED MEN DEFINITELY ANOINTED AND CALLED BY GOD.🙌🙌🙌
I do remember when they were out but I didn't listen to all their music. I must say I really do appreciate it now they were on a whole other level. Glory to God. Serious young men who loved the Lord and sang from their hearts
Mitchell Jones vice was very smooth and silk soft vice
"Who do men say that I AM" is STILL one of my favorite Commissioned songs. It's one the most powerful songs that they have ever done! That message is so dynamic and they did a dynamic job arranging it into a powerful song. Miss these days.
This is the THE definitive Commissioned concert video.
I still bump commissioned to this very day.
I've been a supporter since album one and will be here until they're done, God willing!
And I still weep like I did decades ago almost any time I hear their song Ordinary Just Won't Do.
This is awesome to see men real men worshipping and praising God unashamedly. God I thank you for making me worthing
My sentiments exactly what a Blessing
So so true
Fred Hammond's voice definitely aged well, it got better and better. Modern Fred rendition of Running Back to You runs circles around younger Fred, he brought me to tears years back at a concert, even caused me to sponsor a child in Africa... Yup, that powerful. I got to perform with Commission at an event benefitting the victims of the MOVE bombing in Philadelphia, I was awestruck. 🎹🎙🎹🎵 Memories.
Yes Fred,Marvin and each one of their voices are still superb🥰❤️🖤💚🙏🏽❤️🖤💚to God be the glory from a forever fan🥰
Ps l saw them as well 🥰 I also saw the Jackson 5 and New Edition live 🥰❤️🖤💚🙏🏽❤️🖤💚so when it's my turn to leave this earth l can go being a happy woman thank God❤️🖤💚🙏🏽❤️🖤💚 Blessings to everyone
They were soooo anointed and sang from their hearts music had messages that could be preached!!!
Fred sounded amazing here😭
Young slimmed down Fred....lol.....He looked so different here.
We’re in 2023 it would be awesome to make an audio and video restauration of this so the younger generation understands WHAT was Commissioned and understands their legacy.
AMEN and AMEN
Who are these 8 people that actually "thumbs downed" one of (if not the greatest) contemporary Gospel groups of all time?!?! In my opinion there is NONE better than Commissioned.......NONE!!!
I don’t know who the 8 are but you can tell they aren’t disciples. 😂 I’m sitting here having flashbacks of making sure my tape didn’t pop and then I bought the collection CD and tried to keep it from getting scratched. This was music was music.
None better. None!!!
People who do know good music
😂 🤦🏾♂️
The Commissioned was given to me as a weapon in my spiritual warfare. I really had no idea how anyone else felt about their worship on this level. Feels new to me again.
The blood 🙏🏽.
Still here August 2022
Me too!
I came into gospel music during the early 2000’s, which I always say was an extension of the explosion in the late ‘90s. I was blessed to be able to absorb that because it was a great time including the period when Tye Tribbett & G.A. came and just changed all the rules, that was for us the last great explosion of music originating from the 20th century. During the time when Fred Hammond had went solo from Radical for Christ, Christmas 2003, my mother bought me this VHS, I was too young to realize what she placed in my hands, but to this day I praise God for letting me witness this powerful experience, taped back in 1986 and released in 1989. I had a TV with a VCR included, living in the last days of constantly having to track to get a perfect picture lol 😆. I watched it everyday for years, and learned how the contemporary gospel music originated and Commissioned are truly apart of that list of pioneers, they took would some would risks tremendously, defying technology, music styles, fashion in a time when the church look down on much, but the chords we play today, using tracks and midi, synths, the way we sing, and so much more trace back to these multi talented anointed trailblazers of gospel music. They established a lot of what we have now musically, they made it hip and urban while still keeping their anointing and conviction. This VHS was beginning of a musical journey for me, the more I watched this, the more I wanted to know so as I grew up I learned as much as I could and ended up immersed in it, to this day while I listened to some of my own generation’s music, I love music way before my time, it’s real, anointed, and solid, like good meat on the bone, it sticks to you. The history and evolution of gospel music especially within the 20th century is so profound it’s haunting, but that’s good , you know it’s with you, through good and bad. My mother has since 11 years went to glory but while she lived she exposed me to some of the greatest powerful gospel music I’ll ever know, and these men were part of that.
That was a lot to read but I relate, I was born in 83 so I was raised on the Winans but I remember when my mom played commissioned and I was hooked. I’m so grateful for my mom to introducing me to this type of music
Well before Commissioned was Andre and Sandra Crouch, Edwin Hawkins. Lenny Williams, who was the lead singer of Tower of Power tells one of the greatest stories of the influence of the Crouch family. Williams was well known for the R and B classic "Cause I love You." He tells how he knew the leaders from the Black Panthers and they told him not to follow that white man's religion Christianity. Well when Williams was in the studio making the song Andre and Sandra were there and they inspired him to sing with passion. These sold out to Jesus believers had a impact on one of the greatest songs in black music! That's real power.
@@fothgt Wow, that’s a powerful story on Andrade & Sandra Crouch’s influence on Lenny Williams famous hit, “Cause I Love You” because he sang the breaks off that song, the song itself is powerful even though it’s R&B, the way he did in studio and live it makes sense now, seems like their influence was on a lot legendary artists records outside of gospel, Michael Jackson just to name one of many, the Andrea Crouch choir and friends have contributed their voices on a few of his songs about making a world a better place, brought the gospel out of MJ for sure, just goes to show how far reaching their ministry was and how it can be. Thanks for sharing.
Keith staten voice is very much smooth
Keith Staten is very underrated.
Greatest intro of all time
With the old school tracking at the beginning (too much nostalgia) thanks for posting

Fred Hammond in my opinion never got enough credit for his bass playing. I don’t know a better bass player.
My favorite bassist.

Wow! I remember being at my first Commissioned in 1989 on SC State College campus (now SC State University). This was the first time I heard them and fell in love with the music and worship. They were my all time group since then. I got blessed to see their reunion tour in College Park (Atlanta)a few years ago. They are timeless! God bless them all!
I love commissioned every since I was a little kid

I’ve always loved Commissioned ! I was introduced to them in 85 .. I patterned my music playing after Michael Brooks. People used to ask me, where did I get certain styles to line up with choir music ? Can you imagine Michael Brooks playing, “Oh how I love Jesus “by Thomas Whitfield ? That’s basically how I played lol
Best band of all times ever!!!
The Winans sound every day all day
Fred Hammond started as the Winans bass player.. took their style and started his own band..
Thank you guys from the 80s to 2023 we are still team commissioned

35:55 Hide The Word
YOU CAN REALLY SING A LOT OF THESE GROUPS WHEN THEY'RE PRETTY BOY HE'S JUST THERE TO SHOW BUT YOU CAN REALLY SING.
You all are welcome because obviously God sent them as an answer to MY prayers! (Just kidding) Like most of you, I too have been a fan from day one and continue to love and play them to this day. My wife and I brought them to our little city in NC in '90 and '92. I may post the footage once I confirm permission.
00:19:50 Go and tell somebody
fred
Yo Derek Brinkley was niice 😂.
Am I wrong if I call this RNB Quartet music?
I can see how this was popular coming out of motown.
The smoke is the most best part
Different
Very different
The message in the songs is the most best part, Jesus Loves you and died for you ❤
UNITED WE STAND.
I
SO MUCH PRAISE,
SO MANY OCCASIONS,
SO MANY CHURCHES
OF DIFFERENT PERSUASIONS
THE DEVIL SURE HAS BEEN BUSY
DIVIDING AND CONQUERING AS HE GOES
ALL THESE DIFFERENT CHURCHES,
ALL THESE DIVIDING WOES!
II
SO MUCH PRAISE
SO MANY BASTIONS,
SUCH DIFFERENT CHURCHES WITH DIFFERENT NATIONS
I THOUGHT WE WERE MEANT TO BE ONE BODY OF CHRIST IN THE SPIRIT
WHY THEN AREN'T WE UNITED?
WHY THEN DON'T WE LIVE IT?
III
SO MUCH PRAISE,
SO MANY OCCASIONS,
SO MANY CHURCHES
OF DIFFERENT PERSUASIONS
THE DEVIL SURE HAS BEEN BUSY
DIVIDING AND CONQUERING AS HE GOES
ALL THESE DIFFERENT CHURCHES,
ALL THESE DIVIDING WOES!
IV
SO MUCH PRAISE
SO MANY NATIONS
SO MANY DIVIDED CHURCHES WITH DIFFERENT STATIONS
WHAT HAPPENED TO BEING ONE BODY IN CHRIST
HOW DOES THE DEVIL PREVENT US FROM DOING RIGHT?
UNITED WE STAND,
DIVIDED WE FALL,
CHRISTIANS COME TOGETHER AS ONE NOW, ONE BODY FOR ALL!
V
TOO MUCH DIVISION
TOO MANY AT ODDS
COMING TOGETHER IS NOT HARD AT ALL
ALL BISHOPS NEED TO DO IS SEE US ALL AS ONE, NOT HUNDREDS, NOT TWO
THEN MAKE A SIMPLE CHARTER BASED ONLY ON THE TEN COMMANDMENTS,
GOD'S LAWS ARE ALL THAT'S NEEDED FOR ME AND YOU.
BEAT THE DEVIL AT THE GAME HE PLAYS
UNIVERSAL AND UNITED WE BE
AND UNIVERSAL AND UNITED WE STAY.
NOW YOU MAKE MY DAY!

A MINOR
More like ‘87-‘88
Never realized how much of their sound was influenced by the Winans
Fred played bass for them.
This bro who sings here ,whos that? Good vocalist WOW .Not part of Commissioned
Just the accustics of the hall,a bit bad.Job well done inspite of that
